My Languages Day VLOG in Tbilisi // Learning Georgian and finding home as a Russian immigrant

I've been feeling out of place in Georgia as a Russian immigrant. I don't feel connected to the Georgian culture, I don't speak the language, I don't have local friends and my life revolves mostly around other Russian expats. But recently I decided to change that, so I went to Georgian classes (again) and I started learning German at the same time because why not. So in this video I will share with you my impressions from these classes, show you my favorite Russian-activities places and explore the yards of Tbilisi. I hope you find this vlog interesting!

The sign of a great storyteller… you frequently find things on your walks that speak for themselves, no commentary needed. Like the chair chained to the tree or the woman telling you to leave. It’s great how you include these things but don’t feel the need to speak to them. Great video. Thanks.

Hi Natasha interesting video, regarding the number quoted by yourself of 100,000 this was in the first few months of relocating, official numbers quoted on Georgian tv are now at 1.2 million and native Georgians are at about 4 million so over a quarter of Georgia's population are from Russia!

Thanks for posting. The walking meditation on the city reminded me of some of your old videos from your home region. I love your eye for detail, your sense of irony, and your kindness to animals - and your analysis of the places you go and your place in them. I encouraged you to take the Georgian-language class in another comment, and did so for exactly the reasons you cited in this video. Connecting with the place through the language, interacting with people while you learn, and keeping your mind active with work on achievable goals are all good things - and adding German classes doesn't hurt at all. So it seems you are making progress already with Georgian, which will only improve with time, opening more possibilities for enriching your time in Georgia. Whether that turns out to be a long or short time really doesn't matter right now - you have to make a good life wherever it is you live. Do what you can manage with the videos without worrying too much about a rigorous schedule. I am interested in knowing what life is like in Georgia, but I also enjoy hearing your views on society in general through the lenses of your experiences with social issues in Russia and in Georgia (and other places). You have said those sorts of ideas require more scriptwriting, but you are well capable of doing such things, and you have done some of this sort of work in the not-distant past. I am happy to watch those types of videos too. Be well, and keep us in mind when you feel alone. There are a lot of us here for you.

Georgian language sounds good to my years and the writing is the most aesthetic, my opinion. Your future plans may not include Georgia, but for the moment it is a country where you were able to live, relatively quietly from what I see, so it may be part of you forever, so it is good to learn the language.

The quick cut to the squirrel in the tree was classic, wasn't it? It made me laugh. I'm glad to see that other people appreciate the artistry and humor in Natasha's videos, and that the little creative sparks she inserts get noticed. As you point out, they've been there since her earliest appearances on KZbin. I admire the way she's able to present these funny little snippits and fleeting observations in a way that makes them seem like tiny gifts, just for us. Good to see that you are doing ok. You keep yourself occupied, and learning is really the best way to do that. You are not only learning two new languages, but also a new writing system, apart from the two you already learned. That makes it so much harder! It also struck me how different you and Roman (NFKRZ) are experiencing your stay in Georgia and how you personally deal with the hardship of having to leave Russia. I can see where Roman is coming from, but I think learning the language, do community work, enjoy nature, etc. like you do is really the best way and will keep you sane through it all. The Georgian script is relatively unique. It's one thing to learn another language but then to also learn a new script can be quite challenging. Learning German may help in your European ambitions, but don't let your English fall too far behind. I always like watching virtual tours of interesting places. I like seeing food & drinks from other countries, too. If you know how to make any interesting dishes, I'd like to see that, too. I made borscht, but, as an American, I made it the easy way in 2 hours in an Instapot. It didn't come out very good. I have never eaten anything with beets that I ever liked. It always tastes like some small amount of dirt got spilled into the soup.

I'm French-Canadian and my first language is French but I work in English, from home without speaking to anyone for days, I watch KZbin mostly in English etc. I took a temporary job outside at the winter carnival greeting people (pays less but gets me out of the house and I felt like I had lost my French LOL.
