I notice you apply using both right and left hand. Wow! I can’t master that. I end up doing the whole crossover thing with right hand and never can get the second eye to look as good as the first.

Try switching up your dominant hand throughout the day with things you normally do. Maybe it will build a pathway and then it will come easier for you.

Hi Mandy! I have a few follow up questions: (1) Do you wait for the primer to dry before going in with your mascara or is it just a matter of moving onto the other eye with primer and then following with mascara on the first eye once you've finished priming the second? (2) Also, what do you consider a "coat" of mascara to be? Is it making sure all lashes have been touched or is it when you dip back into the mascara tube? (3) Should you allow lashes to dry between coats before going onto another coat? (Timing of this may be different if using a tubing formula since they don't seem to be as amendable to multiple coats like regular formulas). (4) In addition to looking down into a mirror to avoid mascara on eyelids, I've heard some folks rave about blinking into the wand to really get to the base of their lashes. I've also seen that some coat both back and front of lashes with the wand. Any thoughts or experiences with these techniques? I have fairly short, sparse, straight lashes that point down so finding a technique and a mascara that will hold my curl and dry quickly are key. (5) Any advice for those of us with that lash type? Thank you so much. I've always admired your lashes (#goals, as my preteen would say!) and found this video helpful. As someone with challenging eyelashes, I'm always trying to improve my lash game. I just recently started using a lash serum again, so I'm hopeful that by summertime, my lash problems won't be as bad as they are currently. ❤❤❤

Hi there! 1- I personally don't wait for the primer to dry. I feel it works easier for the mascara to layer on top when it hasn't completely dried down. 2- For me, a coat is when I have used up all the mascara on the spoolie, sufficiently "coated" my lashes and would need to go back into the tube to get more product. 3 - It will depend on the formula as to how much time you wait. Drier formulas, I like to apply the second coat right away so it doesn't have time to fully dry down. If it does, it is a bit harder to build it up. Wetter formulas, I can do one lash, then the other, and then go back to the first lash for the second coat. 4- You can definitely blink into the wand to help coat the lashes. For me, I find that sometimes I blink too fast, and because of the length of my lashes, it can transfer to the lid in the act of blinking. I sometimes coat the top and bottom of lashes of my clients because I am above them and can access them better. For me to do it personally, I find it transfers, and is a bit messier. 5- For short, straight lashes, I highly recommend Asian mascaras. They are INSANELY waterproof and require a special remover, but they will hold a curl like nothing else. My fave is from the brand Heroine Make. You can get that and the remover for less than $20 total. xoxo

Being able to remove the mascara at the end of the day is just as important to me as how it holds up while it's on. I love how Lancome's Lash Idole mascara makes my lashes look and learned recently that it comes off with just water. Since I learned that it is now my current fav. Not an expert on mascara by far! I loved hearing your recommendations...thanks and God bless!

Oh for sure! I tried a drugstore one yesterday for the first time, and while I liked the way it looked, it was a nightmare to remove, so I likely won't reach for it again.

I’m a gigablack girl at your recommendation! My favorite primer is Lancôme, and my favorite mascara for my top lashes is Super Hero by IT cosmetics. My lash enhancing serum is Babe Lash, but I’m going to try the one you’re currently using. I pitch my mascaras every 2 months. My tell-tale sign to replace my mascara is itchy eyes, and when I’ve tried to make my mascaras last for 3 months I can never quite make it. I use the Urban Decay waterline pencil, but I’m going to try the one from Pixie that you suggest to change it up a bit. Hugs to you, Mandy!

MAC Gigablack is the only one I’ll use on my lowers also, even when I use a tubing on top. There’s just something about that brush that hits different. I’m tempted to try Lisa Eldridge’s new Kitten Lash for uppers. I wish I could tightline but my eyes are too sensitive. I’ve tried the one you use and pretty much everything else.

Yes to the gigablack! It's something special for the bottom lashes for sure.

My favorite eyelash curler for many years has been the Kevyn Aucoin and you are the first person I've seen on KZbin to recommend it. I recently purchased a rèphr lash curler recommended by another KZbinr and I have to say it is every bit as good as my old favorite KA curler.

I love the Chantecaille faux cils longest lash. It is so crazy expensive but it’s the best I’ve found. I wish I could find something more affordable. I’m not into tubing mascaras. I feel that living in a dry climate makes my mascaras dry out quicker.

Mandy, I just learned late last night that there are heated lash curlers. What are your thoughts?
@kt94957 ай бұрын
I learned a trick from LuluBelle Hale- instead of using a curler, apply your mascara and immediately aim a blow dryer on cool up at your lashes for about 10 sec, doing each eye separately. It works better than curling them imo.
@MandyDavisMUA7 ай бұрын
They personally scare me. I don't like the thought of heat so close to the eye and I always envision burning my lashes off (even though I am sure that isn't a thing).

Oh, man... I like the lash curlers that have the wider, flat, grippy type handles (similar to the Dior Backstage curler). Too many times I've had the loopy handle ones accidentally flip sideways while curling my lashes and riiiiip!!! there go four or five lashes and river of tears! I'm better able to sandwich the flat handles between my fingers while curling and haven't had the issue.

@MandyDavisMUA I clicked on it because I was curious as to what a "lash routine" was! I thought maybe I was doing something wrong by using a gentle soap to take my mascara off or using a cleaning balm and using a lash serum at night. I love your videos and have learned a lot from you! I bought the Jane Irdale powder foundation because of you and I love it, so thank you! I hope you have a great day as well! 😊
