I have been using tubing mascara ( L’Oreal beauty tubes) for about 20 years (before they became trendy), and you have to use the primer if you want to get the volume! It’s not unfair, it’s meant to be used that way, I’ve recommended that drugstore fave to anyone that would listen for decades. And as far as your first place pick, the Maybelline Sky High seems to be exactly the same as that Tartlette first pick you chose, half tubing with a little bit of smearing in the removal, however, the mascara looks beautiful and it’s super cheap. I hope that helps anyone out. I tried the Caliray mascara and I love it

Totally agree. It makes no sense to use it without the primer. She said it would be unfair because "of course" a mascara will look better after applying a primer, but come on. 🙄 It comes *with* the primer. You can't buy it without the primer, so why not use it as intended? Deduct points just for the fact that it's a two-step process, if you want, but give it a fair shake.

I tried a mini of the original Tarte Tubing mascara. I wasn't overly impressed, but thought it was just ok. I just tried the Elf and was greatly disappointed. It was dry and so I couldn't layer it. I totally agree about the mini Tarte. I was soooo unimpressed and couldn’t figure out why people liked it so much. I bought the mini mascara value set from Sephora a few months ago. It comes with a coupon for a full size of one of the included mascaras in the set. I have always liked the Rare beauty mascara and was leaning towards getting that one. Maybe I will try the full size Tarte instead? I know sometimes the way the mini and the full size may perform differently…

This might be my favorite video ever!! I have only ever tried the L’Oréal and Blinc tubing mascaras, and have only just discovered Elf! Hated Blinc, L’Oréal is only OK, as I feel like when you use the white primer, it leaves a weird white cast that you can’t totally cover up, and it gets flakey for me. Elf has been a GAME CHANGER! I am not a big fan or user of Wlf products in general because I feel like the products don’t really jive well with my skin chemistry, but the Elf tubing mascara is IT!!! Maybe I should expand my horizons and try some of these other tubing mascaras from other brands. I had no idea there were so many options!!! Thanks Abby!! ❤😊

I have been using the L’Oréal Double Extend for at least 15 years now- I’m tempted to try out other formulas but I keep going back to this one bc it’s such a tried and true affordable and easily accessible drug store product for me. I even wore it to my father’s funeral and crying didn’t ruin it or smudge it. I agree that the primer does add to the experience of the product - and I love that I don’t have to fuss with 2 separate tubes to get my lashes done in the morning. Last year I tried the KVD one and I agree the brush is AWFUL and it doesn’t wash off well. I also find it disappears throughout the day so your review was spot on! Thrive is my all-time favorite tubing mascara. I've tried a bunch, and I've found the Thrive formula is superior to the others. I have naturally longer lashes and love length and volume. The Thrive is amazing and gives me length but no volume. So I use the L'oreal Lash Paradise over the top of it to achieve what I want! Great video. But I do really enjoy the Tarte mascara as well. It'd be rated as my 2nd favorite. And I agree about the removal of it.

Wait, so how do your top tubing mascaras compare to your regular mascaras? Tarte over Maybelline Lash Sensational? That’s what the people want to know!
@CelesteGarcia719915 ай бұрын
I know you're asking her but I'd say that her top tubing mascara isn't really a true tubing mascara, since it smears when removing and comes off in flakes rather than "tubes". It's closer to the Maybelline Sky High (which is also not a tubing mascara but is pretty easy to remove). If the top 2 "tubing mascaras" are hardly tubing at all and are better than every true tubing mascaras on this list, I would have to conclude that the non-tubing ones are better. My opinion, obviously. Personally I haven't tried any tubing mascara (and I've tried her top 3) that outperformed my other drugstore favorites like Maybelline.

The L’Oréal NEEDS the primer-it’s not optional. That’s what allows you to get length without it ever clumping. You apply the black mascara while the primer is still wet (do one eye at a time, all coats at once before it dries). It may seem unfair, but they did that on purpose and it makes the formula unique. Glad to keep gatekeeping this one though so it doesn’t sell out or increase in price! 😂

3:16 - i honestly LOVE this mascara; Milani Highly Rated Lash Extensions. I live in Louisiana and we have HEAT + humidity here (if you know, you know🥵) & maybe it’s just me, but I swear it doesn’t transfer after wearing it all day like most mascaras do. I also layer it with Milani Highly Rated Anti Gravity bc it separates better (anti gravity first & then lash extensions). I will say that I do wish Milani Lash Extensions wasn’t as dark & SOMETIMES I don’t like the how clumpy it can be, but it doesn’t always bother me. I just go in with a mascara brush & it looks fine! it’s my fav mascara. I really don’t see myself switching anytime soon. oh and I have short, straight, but curly/wacky, stubborn lashes, so I truly mean it when I say these mascaras have tamed my lashes a lot when I wear them.

I'm so thankful to find this video! You have saved me a lot of time and money! As someone born with heavily hooded eyes, regular mascara, even waterproof, smudges horribly under my eyes and I constantly look like a raccoon! Tubing mascara solves all of this and I wish I'd known about it long ago! Why is it such a secret? It is mostly not in the name or advertised, so reading the ingredients is often the only way to know it's tubing. I love the ELF Lash Xtndr and the L'Oreal. You should have tried it with the primer separately, as it greatly improves length, volume and wearability. The only drawback is the texture of the primer, it's like Elmer's glue! But it's ideal for special occasions and wears really well. I also really liked the brown (amazing colour) Wowcombo mascara, but it is expensive outside of the USA, so I will not reorder. Added bonus, I tested mine in the middle of 40° weather, so I can say both the L'Oreal and ELF are sweat proof. I have yet to see a review or try the newer L'Oreal Panorama mascara, so that will be next, along with your top selection ☺️

My eyes smudge like crazy with all mascaras unless they're tubing, but fair warning that some of these don't fully tube so they smudge. I hated Tartlette, it gave me raccoon eyes, and ironically the no panda eyes gave me panda eyes. I also hated LA Girl and Caliray, they smudged a lot, and Maybelline Sky High was pretty bad right away. Best for no smudging, true tubing, has been L'Oreal Double Extend, ELF, Clinique, Blinc, and Milani (but not a big fan of that formula). Hopefully that helps from a fellow person with smudging issues! 😆

@@q5130 Yes, her #1 smudged on me. It took longer than others like LA Girl and Caliray (I threw those out within a couple days) but it only lasts a few hours before smudging under my eyes and I don't even wear mascara on my lower lashes! I kept it as backup in case my other one wrecked, because it did give great volume and I liked the brush, but I just can't use it as my main mascara. I even tried layering a better tubing option over it that doesn't smudge, but it still have me dark eyes by afternoon. Hope this helps! If you could find a mini, you could always test it out. I'm a huge fan of true tubing mascaras, and it just wasn't one! My go to is ELF and I still will always love L'Oreal for the extra volume when using the primer.

Sweed and Victoria beckham are both fantastic tubing mascaras, would have love to have seen them compared. I have the Tarte one but these other two are definitely way better for me.

Your number 1 is a zero for me. Don't know if I got a defective item. The mascara was to dry, flaked off into my eyes, and was very irritating. In some areas, the mascara would not tube off and fully remove. Thank you for all of your hard work.

No L’Oreal Panorama? I was expecting that one! It’s really good. I also love the Caliray (that one is my gym mascara; I never have the wear issues you did and it performs better than my old favorite waterproof during a workout), I just really wish they had a brown version!

Have you ever used Kevyn Aucoin’s tubing? I believe it his Volume Mascara.

Wow! TY for your thoroughness. Thrive introduced me to tubing and I’m excited to try your holy grail. Have you tried the Tarte one with a lash primer underneath?

I have! I actually think it performs better without

I've used a lot of tubing mascaras and I have to say my favorite by far has been Tower 28 Beauty MakeWaves Lengthening + Curling Clean Mascara. I am obsessed with it!

I am currently using the Tartelette XL, and I agree the original is better. I’ve heard good things about the Victoria Beckham tubing mascara, so that’s next on my testing list - need to find the perfect one 😄

The elf has been my FAVORITE lately! It’s probably the best I’ve personally tried. I haven’t tried them all, but I’ve tried quite a few! And the elf has definitely been my new “Go To” lately! I even packed it in my hospital bag for when I go into labor! 😂 I personally do no like the heimish mascara AT ALL! I found it to be entirely too wet and sticky and mad my eyelashes clump together horribly. I had such high hopes for it, too!!😕

Thanks for doing this! I’m curious if you use the mascaras right upon opening for the first time or did you open them and let them sit a couple days. Because many people find that mascaras are not the best upon first use and take a couple days to let the air hit the formula enough.

Thank you so much! I love the hourglass one but will def be trying the Tarteless one to compare!

Yes!! My fave is #1 😍 one day I just picked it up for no reason, all I knew is that I wanted a tubing mascara and clearly I picked well because it's amazing. Makes my tiny lashes look stunning.

I have loved the double extend for over 20 years as I hate the messy removal of mascara. I actually wear it without the primer most days unless I’m glammed up. I feel my lashes are heavy when I use with the primer. I just wish L’oreal would offer a dark brown. I tried the dark brown Thrive and it made my eyes itch and it’s clumpy. Wish I had returned. Excited that elf offers brown!

Very informative. Thank you so much! I'd be curious to see you take your favorite wand and try it with each formula to see how that changed the performance.

Wow I was about to reorder my Milani and maybe I won’t. I loved the Thrive forever and then switched to Milani (easier to get) and I had liked it more. I have no issues with the Milani but I didn’t realize there were so many other options. May have to pick up something new to try!

Love this content!! I appreciate all your hard work in compiling this. I can't wait to try a few on the list! I've been using Thrive for a a few years and love it, but am always looking for something a little more budget friendly. I do really love Wow Combo my amazing lashes, performance and budget wise, but hate removing it! I literally dread taking it off. Fingers crossed your #1 and #2 will work for me! Thank you!!
