My Last Cycle of Chemo

This is a raw vlog of my fourth and last cycle of chemotherapy for the time being until my MRI and Pet scan where i will find out if my body is responding to the treatment. This will tell us if the tumor has shrunk and if the cancer is contained. Vlog 408

There's a coolness that's rolled in across the desert as the sun rose this morning. It's one of those things that you can feel inside you. You don't need to go outside to feel it. You innately know it's arrived. The birds have a different song and the clouds filter the morning light and create a new shade. The heat no longer rules the morning here, it's gone on its annual journey on down to the southern hemisphere. It's time to open the windows and let the wind flow in and give us new life. We tiptoe downstairs, open the sliding doors wider and put the coffee on. It's beautiful here. It's one of those mornings that open us up to lessons and parables that life puts on in front of us. Let's see what there is to take from today's offering... You use the term "Raw Vlog" to describe simply filming what is going on around you without the artful editing that turns it into something more cinematic and pleasing to the eye. I don't know, but the rawness of it all appeals to me. Real life... at least for me... is not soft and smooth as expensive pillows or high thread count Egyptian cotton sheets. It's not a sea of milk chocolate that I can swim in for infinity. It's more like an unsanded wooden floor with little shards of wood that can give me painful slivers as I walk over it barefooted. I kind of like the rawness of real life because it forces me to be aware of contrasts. I can't be aware of the sweetness and the softness without feeling the rough edginess in my day. The rawness is a good thing for me. Man... you have such wonderful things to be grateful for... To have that one quiet friend who hangs in the background, but "shows up." The small, simple gift of a four leafed clover was huge to me. That was a great mental image of a friend searching through an entire field to come up with a simple token... I want to be that kind of friend. That is a lesson that I can learn this cool and quiet morning here. It's time for me to be a part of life here. It's an exciting day here in Casa O'Brien. I get to bond with my daughter and take her to a concert. I'm going to be the dad I want to be. Thanks for letting me learn about the sweetness of life... Keep on keepin' on.

Man, you can definitely feel how Alodia is such a positive vibe althrough out the family. I'll be honest, I've always known Alodia for years now being me closely following the gaming scene but seeing her differently like this is very special. I've always associated her with cute and cosplay stuff but I never knew she is elegantly simple and humble behind the costume until you molded her out of her bubble. She's got it all fam.

Love the cancer squad. LOL. Your reaction to water is similar to the bizarre nerve reactions I have experienced since my 10.5 hour spinal/brain surgery then followed by my radiation treatments. After the surgery where my Neuro surgeon realigned my vertebrae and widened the spinal canal so that my spinal cord could move freely and wasn’t being crushed. To keep everything in place he created what kinda looks like scaffolding around my spine with titanium rods and screws and carbon fiber mesh forms that replaced the disks. One of the most painful experiences ever. About a week after surgery I started having nerves firings that went to random places as my body and brain tried to reboot and send messages to the correct locations. I could be asleep and suddenly get woken up because my foot started doing like your hands. Another time I was sitting up and one leg starts bouncing up and down on its own and you can’t stop it. We tried many times. During the night when there was severe thunderstorms I kept being woken up because my legs, hands kept going crazy and I had bitten my tongue around 7 times which was a very bad thing as my tongue had been severely injured during the surgery and was still very swollen. They thought I was having seizures. But no it was being triggered by the power flickering on and off which made the cap I had to use because I have sleep apnea keep turning on and off so it was a strange chain reaction made weirder due to the nerve craziness. I love how your family is. Mine was very similar and crazy too. Will you will find that most families are nuts/crazy and just unique. Keeping you in my prayers.
