🛩️ My last flight from Helsinki-Malmi Airport EFHK

My first flight of 2020! Took of from #EFHK #MalmiAirport and went to check out the city of #Helsinki with a Cessna C150. Probably the last flight of mine from there as the City of Helsinki is closing the airport. Included some views from the air traffic control tower.

Airport takes a lot of space, and when it's in the city the land is wanted for residential buildings, parks etc. Kinda short-sighted to dump a century of history for that when there is plenty space around the city.

The airport is located in the heart of the capital. I think a new one should be built near the border of Helsinki

There already is a huge airport in the suburbs of Helsinki, we dont need a new one

@@obamabinladen4109 For general aviation i think it would be better to have own and smaller as alternative for bigger. ITs very expensive to have your plane stored in EFHK.

I frequently visit the surroundings of Malmi airport just to watch the planes fly over and over. Too bad they want to close it. Ehh..

Indeed, let's hope for the best - but I doubt it. No more general aviation in Helsinki after the highest court of Finland agrees with the city ☹️
