You've got a lot to answer for you have. Tried paramotoring a few years ago, got my Parajet and a Dudek wing in the hope of flying for pleasure. All the gear and no idea you might say. Booked my week long course in Spain and on day two, after the groundhandling stuff, we tried to run with the wing. Hopeless! Couldn't run from a pack of lions. I had two dodgy hips (which have since been replaced, I'm soon to be 66) but I still can't run. I'd given up hope of ever flying, other than Easy Jet :( . Here I am 4 years later and I found your journey to Flexwing. Your first solo flight in your own machine has got the fly juice flowing again and I've booked my first lesson in a flexwing dammit ! ! Weather permitting I fly on the evening of Thursday, 5th Aug with Cheshire Microlights. I hope your happy now !! 'cos I am :)

Oh wow Clwyd, I hope your hips are OK. I really hope you enjoy your lesson on the 5th. It's a bit spooky, I literally bumped into the gentlemen that took me for my first ever flexwing flight this Saturday, only by complete happy accident. I really hope you enjoy it.

All my adult life I've wanted to be able to fly and, now all the kids have flown the nest and the mortgage is done and dusted I'm flying. Been a long but so well worth it. I'm so pleased with the progress I'm making. Like to thank Mark and John, the instructors at Cheshire Microlights who have a lot of patience with me as I struggle to get into the front og the Quik. I usually end up tied to something with the com's. cable. The hips are better but still not as good as the one's your born with :). Would like to see you flying up in Cheshire some time.

Hi Giles, creating nostalgia, enjoyable video, looking forward to when you can launch with your new category mods and licence. Having watched your long version of your test, one interesting observation. When I was learning to fly, some 47 years ago, great attention was drawn to the importance of constant look out scans. Hi John, yes I'm looking forward to getting back in the air with my SSDR PeaBee. Yes Shelley never stops looking. I found it really hard to keep concentrating on the lookout while also being tested. Hi MJOTD, I gained my PPL (A) back in 1996 but due to a career change it lapsed. If you look at one of my playlists my NPPL Journey, it covers my conversion to NPPL flexwing. I just don't have the funding for Group A or 3 axis flying. Now my Peabee is Single Seat Deregulated, I can carry more fuel so I can fly further and carry more fuel and weight. Its an exciting prospect once I can get out flying again. I hope that gives a bit context and background.

Hi Giles, about the flat approach when you hold off there seems to be a good bit of daylight between the control-bar and the forward strut. Could you put on a speed bar (Talking hang glider speed bar) and gain the extra down angle?
@GolfFoxtrot222 жыл бұрын
Since I've modified to the Adam wing the HOT is further forward so I do get much closer to the front strut on landing, and the nose is higher as well. I can also get very close to the VNE with the bar fully back so I don't think I'd be able to uses a speed bar. Having the bar get all the way forward does help the trike unstick on takeoff, so the straight bar is the only real option.

Nice vid! Why did you want to convert to SSDR?
@GolfFoxtrot223 жыл бұрын
The main reason is it will allow me to carry more fuel. As a Sub 70 machine, the 11 litres only give me 1 3/4 hours max, with my new 25 litre tank and 6 lph consumption, I can actually fly somewhere and fly back without having to worry about sourcing fuel. The UK Sub 70 ( Licence free) flying machines are brilliant but it does restrict the duration unless you have a very light machine.
