Couldn't care less about the Amico at this point, and Tommy's probably going to prison in the end, but the one thing that really pisses me off about the whole ordeal is the limbo that Earthworm Jim 4 now finds itself in. I was genuinely looking forward to a new Earthworm Jim game hearkening back to the franchise's actual 2D roots with so many of the original devs attached to the project. I can only hope that somehow the game finds a new publisher, though if what I've heard is true, the game never actually saw any substantial development to begin with (comparable to much of what was promised regarding all things Amico), so there's probably no real loss there when all is said and done.

I also had one pre-ordered *YEARS* ago and have canceled it. I couldn’t care less about “Amico Home”, I wanted an actual console that hooks up to our TV. Mobile games are already oversaturated, so I certainly have no interest in them. The new Atari products are AWESOME (I own both the 2600+ and the Game Station Pro) and it’s a shame that Intellivision didn’t follow this path.

Are you aware that Amico Home can be installed on countless consoles that hook up to your TV ? I'm playing it on Nvidia Shield TV Pro on 50 inch TV. I agree the Market for all games is oversaturated. That's what makes Amico Home special. They filter the boring games out. Amico is aiming for mobile gamers because they number over 3 billion people and growing. Console gamers are much less and declining fast.

Sounds like you're a retro Gamer. Amico was never meant to be a "retro console". The fans of it today are only Innovators and Early Adopters. It's going for a different market, and even though you may not like Amico Home, it's better suited for its Mainstream market. But, you can still play Amico as a traditional console. An nVidia Sheiled IS INDEED a console. Not a proprietary IE console, but a console nevertheless. Amico will indeed be a better product on it.

I'm just a kid of the 70s who loved gaming and no bs. The Amico would have done fine if they could have put together something within the year (2019) and made 10 games. It could have died by now, but we'll never know. It's a shame the Intellivision is just going to have to bear this weight of Amicos failure as a brand. Let's hope someone can actually do something other than phone games in the future.

As a dad with little kids, I was totally on board. It was a great idea and I was pretty disappointed when they canceled it. On the flip side, I love my VCS, which I was 100% sure would never see the light of day and now I have two! Crazy how it all turned out in the end.

Amico wasn't cancelled. I'm playing it right now with my family and its the best gaming experience in decades. The controls are amazing even on a cell phone. And the games are top notch fun for local multiplayer. The only thing that changed was the footbath charging station was cancelled. Instead we can play Amico on all the latest more powerful consoles. Heck Nvidia Shield TV Pro can play Amico. And its specs are better then Switch.

Its really hard to believe all 4 of your grand kids wanted Amicos, I think you were an Intellivision fan back in the day and wanted to get them one. More then likely your grandkids like all kids these days either have the Nintendo Switch a Xbox, or a Sony Playstation. The Nintendo Switch is by far the most family friendly system, the Amico controller was basically a carbon copy of the Nintendo Wii controller with the addition of a disc instead of a D-Pad and Joystick. The D-Pad has been used on every single video game system since the NES . The Intellivision disc pad was one of the worst ways to controller a video game. The Nintendo has actually been around since it was first produced in Japan on July 15th 1983 and Oct 18th 1985 in USA and has always released a new system every 7 - 8 years. The Playstation has been around since it was first released in Japan in December 3rd 1994, and in September 9, 1995 in the U.S. While the Xbox was first released on Nov 15th 2001. They never would of been able to compete with the big 3 even if if was released. Also Tommy Tellirico took out a stupid loan that sunk the company and how he agreed to pay it back was he had to give this Sudesh guy $100 from every unit sold until he paid back $800,000. That would of forced them to increase the price of the console which was basically a 2016 smart phone in 2024 market technology. It would never been able to compete with the PS5, Switch, and Xbox graphics and established Triple A gaming franchises. Also 2 weeks ago Intellivision sold there rights and all there video game properties to Atari. They claim there still going to make the amico but its officially dead in the water, and has been years ago. It was suppose to come out in 2020. The Technology in the console is already 9 years old if your count 2016.

It was a cool idea but soon spun way out of control. They should have never targeted the big 3, and should have never had a price point as high as it was. A 150 dollar price, pure handheld that maybe can hook up to a TV using HDMI and uses Wifi for Multiplayer (with each player needing their own device) would have been fine.

I feel like they should have gone the pure retro route. Make a console that's JUST for retro games, not these low end 3D games that look like mid 90's Mac games. That visual style is so unappealing. Give us pure retro gaming with a normal controller, not a gimmicky one. It could have been a $50 console. Do achievements, online co-op/versus, leaderboards, etc. Something like that would have been great.

Well right now the Amico Console is free not $50. Because you can install it on devices you already own. I was very skeptical of the Amico controller idea. But after playing Amico Home with my cell my mind was blown. Now I look at Amico controls as vastly superior. And gamepads as old and outdated tech. Agreed online play would have been sweet. But local multiplayer is more fun anyway.

The amico but its officially dead in the water, and has been for years. It was suppose to come out in 2020 and its mid 2024. Now that Atari has purchased the Intellivision and all of its games, they claim there still making it. The Technology in the console is basically a 2016 smart phone, and is is already 9 years old if your count 2016. Modern video game companies like Nintendo, Sony, and Xbox are already releasing a new console after 8 years. Amico home is pointless since your need multiple cellphones to play crappy cellphone games on. As fof June 9th 2024 none of the Amico Home games have reached 500+ downloads on Google Play, there all at 100+, and Side Swipers is a 50+ downloads. They don't nor will ever have any triple A titles like the other major 3 consoles have. The cheapest cell phone is $270 - $300 so your paying $540 - $600 to play Amico Home plus the price of the game.

I didn't like the original console idea either. It's more for aging shelf collectors. Right now with Amico Home the hardware is much more powerful. So it can play the same games even better. And for a much lower cost. You don't even need to buy a new console anymore.

Totally understand Brett, but I'm sure most of us Supporters still like you and will welcome you back when you're ready. The console was always just an Android based hub for the controllers, and has become largely unnecessary due to the MILLIONS of existing and reliable Android boxes right now out there. Amico's now better. Look for Sega, Neo Geo, Atari, etc, to come out with "consoles" of their own on them too in the future.

Exactly ! Atari Creep confirmed the Amico controllers can also charge with USB cable if you don't have the console. So it wasn't ever really needed. 3DO also showed that a company doesn't need to make its own consoles. If Sega Home came out on Nvidia Shield TV Pro with a new Controller that be amazing. Needing a new console for everything is a concept for people stuck in the past. It's not like the 90's when the hardware for each was so vastly different. A lot of young people don't even have space for them. Having a "games room" in a house is a dream most young gamers will never afford.

Your falling for the troll comments. Everyone got refunds , it was a joke started to make fun of Tommy that he wasn't refunding. Amico Home is the exact same as the original console that it can play the games. The only difference it allows far more powerful Android Boxes to run them with better graphics on your TV. The original idea included using phones as controllers. I'm glad they didn't go with cartridges because the games are getting expansions and content updates all the time. I thought I wouldn't like using my phone as a controller. But to my surprise with a stick on Disc its amazing. The games are still local multiplayer. They never added any online play even with Amico Home.

Most people still haven’t gotten refunds. Intellivision is trying to get backers to apply the $100 downpayment towards Amico Home instead. You need to jump through hoops to get that money back.
