@MrNorthNJ5 күн бұрын
Agreed. This is what Hasbro should do with the Retro collection. There are plenty of characters from the OG trilogy that never got figures. They could even do variants with some of the originals (like Greedo) to be closer to the film version. Most importantly, they need to make the individual figures available and not have the boxed set be the only option.

Id love it if theyd sell these like that recent Sabine/Chopper set on Pulse - indivdual figs, but with a made to order window with no limit on orders. just let folks order as much as they want with no fear of scalping!

Great news on the Blade Runner line, Mr Maclunkey! As someone who's customised the hell out of a 3rd party Deckard to finally make peace with having a reference representation of him in my collection I'm super excited to fill out the cast in 3 3/4". Million dollar question: Are you going to give them bended knees (a'la Kenner Raiders figures of the time)? And also, are you going to include variations that one can add softgoods to? ... That said the classic Kenner vinly cape could be shaped into a Deckard collar pretty easily! Options would be great, if that's a possibility. If you're looking for reference material I highly advise looking up the Dark Toys Rick figure thread on CollectorFreaks. A tonne of research in there was compiled for Deckard's wardrobe and accessories all in the one thread.
@funkymaclunkey4 күн бұрын
Thanks for the suggestion of that CollectorFreaks thread - lots of good info in there! I have been debating the "hard-sculpt" vs "soft goods" issue but I think the solution is to just offer both options. We'll see how the sculpting goes! As for knees, I don't plan to make them bend. Not because I wouldn't LIKE to, but because most people will be printing these in resin and frankly it's just too brittle to be able to reliably do bendable joints without rivets. And most people would rather not deal with that so far as I can tell!
@P3SS3SSOd4 күн бұрын
@@funkymaclunkey Ahh excellent, yeah, that's why I was wondering about the knees. Not a lot of sitting requirements for many of the characters anyway. I really love the idea of options for sculpted and then the opportunity to add your own coats. Thanks so much for that. I have the ReAction Kyle Reese that I bought for the softgoods coat that I was going to hack into a Deckard but never got that far.. that coat could still come in useful now with a dye job and new collar. Best of luck on the journey!! Really looking forward to seeing these develop and If I can help in any way please reach out!

I will definitely pick up one set of these if it's a multipack. However, if they also make the rebel fleet trooper and sandtrooper as singles, I will buy a 6 pack and at least 10 more sandtroopers and 6 Rebel Fleet Troopers.

Have you considered a Captain Eo figure in the retro style since Skeleton Crew gave a nod to Fuzzball?
@funkymaclunkey4 күн бұрын
Funny you should mention that, because I designed an entire series of Captain EO figures and will be putting them up for sale in January. My pal and collaborator on the project Josh Izzo has pictures of them all fully painted here: instagram.com/p/DDZs450v1lV/?img_index=8

funky, on your etsy page the figures look all grey , but i saw colored ones on victorias cantina, do you color them before you ship them?
@funkymaclunkey6 күн бұрын
I usually don't sell fully-painted figures - I sell 3d-printed figure kits that you paint for yourself. The Captain EO figures you saw on Victoria's were sculpted and printed by me, but painted by Josh Izzo. When I sell my unpainted figures, there are a handful of dudes out there who will paint them for customers for an additional charge.

Where did you get those cases you used for the Droid cartoon figures?
@funkymaclunkey2 күн бұрын
They're baseball bat display cases from Michaels! They come with some mounting pieces on the inside that are meant for bats, but once you remove those and add some LED lights...they look great for displaying figures. Here they are, currently on sale too: www.michaels.com/product/baseball-bat-display-case-by-studio-decor-10174362

Interesting it's going to be what impact these Hasbro figures have on already existing Custom figures and comparing them with each other. Stan Solo Rebel Fleet Soldier is going to be very hard to top. Unless Hasbro makes a removable Helmet one, I see little chance Hasbro making a better one. Stormtrooper Han should be easily obsolete, since it's literally the same sculpt of Luke Stormtrooper. Procustom Yavin Luke will be obsolete ,since Procustom figures are just too expensive to compete with Hasbro 10 dollar figures. Even the sculpt isn't too unique. Sandtrooper will be interesting. Can end for either side. Next17 Dr.Evazan will be one shot KO'd, that figure is just pretty cheaply made. Wether if it's the body mold that is reused on multiple figures, or the quality of paint which is absolutely not what Kenner used, I see Hasbro impossible to release an inferior version. Interesting it will get what visions they have for Walrus Man. If they rerelease the 1977 sculpt then it's a big L for Hasbro, since it wouldn't match with Dr.Evazan at all. I would go with detachable arm and movie accurate Ponda Baba. Even the original figure isn't really hard to acquire. Nobody would shed a tear of not having a Rerelease of that figure
@funkymaclunkey6 күн бұрын
It will be interesting for sure, and I think a lot will depend upon how easy/difficult it is for people to get the figures they want. The Stan Solo Rebel Trooper is great but it's also $37 loose. If the Hasbro version is $13 on card, it will attract a) people who want it on a card and b) people who want a half dozen but would rather pay $78 than $222. Also consider that many collectors won't buy from SS because of his business practices. A $13 Han Stormtrooper is a great deal for most people who don't want to head-swap an expensive vintage Luke. PCF's Yavin set wasn't very well received so I'm not sure what the impact will be there. The thing about SS, PCF, and Next17 figures is that they don't have factories constantly churning out additional volume - the bulk of their sales come from when it is initially released (and pre-orders), and then they sell inventory until their stock runs out. It just means that once Next17's Evezan stock is gone, he just won't order anymore. Totally agree with you that the only reason to include Walrus Man in this set would be to make it screen-accurate, otherwise it's just filler. I'm choosing to have faith that it will be executed well...I'm being optimistic!
@JustMe-tm5dc6 күн бұрын
@@funkymaclunkey I said this the very first day I discovered Custom Figures. Better make an extremely good figure because if Hasbro decides to make their version, 11 dollars a figure is going to be hard to beat. I don't know about anyone else, but to me it would hurt if I had spent like 40dollars for a figure only to replace it with an 11dollar one. I've been saying all the time that The Retro Collection is nothing but an appetizer for the Vintage Collection ,that's why I don't think Hasbro will give you a way to army build any of these except of acquiring multiple sets
