I had an Egyptian supervisor in Los Angeles, and she felt I was too low level as a Black person to work in the office. She had her law degree, and I had worked there successfully for almost 15 years, but she worked very hard behind my back with management for 2 years to get rid of me, and she was successful after those 2 years. She had only worked there for only about 3 years herself! But she made it her mission! I believe what everybody is saying 😢.

Cairo is a lot for the senses. the people at the hotel very nice but it can be a completely different world. The people of Aswan - the vendors, had so much more chill - I found that city to be the easiest. Although I had one vendor changing the price and making a scene all other vendors were scores more chill than Cairo and Temple at Kumoumbo- which I found to be a straight up nightmare- I ran and literally to avoid vendors and one ran after me - a completely ridiculous sight - I didn't stop until I got to our boat.

I wish the country would get its act together regarding tourism. But it doesn’t. This behaviour is rampant among those who deal regularly with tourists. @@Snowfox23 🙄SUDAN, ETHIOPIA AND "LOWER" EGYPT ARE ALL PART OF ANCIENT KHEMIT/KUSH. All were ONE EMPIRE, ORIGINALLY. But, I'm sure you need fair-skinned officials to "validate" history....for you to "trust" the information 😐 (and not "ignorant, Black Americans"😐). So, many European scientists discovered VIA SATELLITE Nubian pyramids which pre-date Giza. The pyramids are buried under tons of sand. FURTHERMORE, 10,000+ years ago, Nubians migrated from ancient Kush to Saudi Arabia. Their artifacts were discovered, 16 years ago. I traveled with a group to Egypt almost 20 years ago so I can say there’s safety in numbers. One day, while on a tour of a papyrus store, I was checking out the artwork and a salesman tried to kiss me. He got angry when I refused his advances. Another time, I got sick from food poisoning and needed some fresh air by the sea in Alexandria. The group asked a policeman to take care of me while they went for lunch. He was polite but when some of his coworkers stopped by, they made me feel very uncomfortable with their leering. We were advised to dress appropriately with long loose clothing and scarves but the fact we are black women doesn’t help much! The only reason I want to return to Egypt is to finish seeing everything in the large museum in Cairo as there wasn’t enough time. I do a lot of solo traveling but Maryanne, your recent experience in Egypt has made me think twice! Hopefully, I can return in a group again. Enjoy the rest of your travels safely. I admire your courage as a young woman doing what makes you happy as you are an inspiration to others!❤😊

You should have a travel network. There are plenty of good brothas who live abroad who would be willing to support you the way your brother did. It's true that being a solo traveler sucks sometimes. I have done it solo, and I have suffered for it. And I'm not a woman. So, the same can be true for men and women.

One person told me that they liked Egypt but this was over 10 years ago. Every one since then told me they didn’t like it much. The two times I’ve tried to go 2 separate cruises 1 was cancelled and the other a hurricane hit my area and I couldn’t make the trip. I look at this vid and said thank you Lord I would have been so disappointed.

I heard another world traveler who said the same thing about Egypt being his least favorite country. I’d never go to Egypt maybe for like a day or 2 through passing but just to say I went. I think it was you that said the lady told you that no matter how much you wash your hands your skin will still look dirty ..

I was moved by your travel around the world and sad some in Egypt had to subject you to such cruel treatment. As a Kenyan I am also not happy with your unpleasant experience in my country. I hope you will give Kenya a second chance, you will enjoy our coastline, safari in our game parks, the great rift valley, rainforest in the lake region, tea plantations, semi desert in the north, geothermal and hot springs and many other Kenya can offer. Be blessed
