Why is there a second D instead of a E ?

Its in Drop-D tuning, so you just tune the low E to a D. Tho it's literally used just once in the entire song.

can I clarify something? watching the original it looks like she has the guitar tuned to open E or maybe open D. thoughts?

Very nice. Let me suggest a set of chords that I think could be a little closer (IMHO) to the original but without retuning. 100220 (this is my) x00253 (least favourite) 100231 (life...) 600760 (...up) 500650 (in smoke)

still rough on a few of these but heres what i got based on a video intro is p intuitive once you're in the tuning so ill skip notating that verses go 000442 000875 000000 555555 bar x02000 riff starting on the fretted string bridge is something close to starting from bar at at 5th then x02000 (she strums it this time, it might be x02200) 8 8 8 9 10 8 0 0 0 0 0 0 8 8 8 9 10 8 0 0 0 0 0 0 7 7 7 8 7 7 0 0 0 0 0 0 8 8 8 9 10 8 10 12 10 11 10 x 3344x or x2344 its very hard to see in the video then back to the top
