A hall of famer coach said b4 MJ was in the NBA "The kid is just an absolutely great kid. If I were going to pick the 3 or 4 best athletes I’ve ever seen play basketball, he’d be one of them. I think he’s the best athlete I’ve ever seen play basketball. If I were gonna pick 3-4 with the best ability I’d ever seen play the game, he’d be one of them. If I’m gonna pick the best competitor that I’ve ever seen play, he’d be one of them. So, in the categories of competitiveness, ability, skill and then athletic ability, he’s the best athlete, he’s one of the best competitors, he’s one of the most skilled players. And that to me makes him the best basketball player that I’ve ever seen play”

Air Jordan was a gift from the Universe. My eyes were blessed watching that era. 👍🥃 Cheers from Australia.

God bless you guys. Im only 42, which you may consider old, but trust me, it's not. Born and raised ChiTown. Grew up blocks away from Jordan's house. Met him on several occasions. Was blessed enough to have been able to see and watch him play in person from the ages of 7 and 18, between the old Chicago Stadium and the United Center....maybe 80, 100 times. No cap. But anyhow, I digress. What I want to express is that you two fellas are wise beyond your years. Color me impressed. You guys get it. Basketball, the way it was played (dictated by the rules the NBA had in place at the time) by Michael Jordan and as a league as a whole back then was pure basketball AS IT WAS INTENDED. One of you said it and you were 100% correct: what Mike was doing oit there, the way he played the game in which he unequivocally mastered on every level in every way in the mold of Bruce Lee, it WAS more exciting! By a country fuckin mile it was. Everything you see today in the NBA is cheat code bullshit. It ain't hard for these guys now nor any professional hooper from any ERA to score the basketball when you're wide open - 3 point line, in the paint, 94 feet from the basket...hell, EVERYWHERE - and more or less have zero physical restraint from stopping you from moving and manuevering around anywhere and everywhere whenever and wherever the fuck you damn well please. It sucks for your generation that this is the product you're forced to watch. It's like shooting around and dunking the basketball in an empty fucking gym. That isn't impressive for 6 to 7 feet tall people with world class hand-eye and overall athleticism to put the ball in the hoop under those conditions. I'm sorry, but it and the numbers today's players put up as a result of it, it's just not that impressive. And certainly not as impressive as MJ who was basically not human, he was that fucking good. It's as if the NBA put shit on easy mode and made the game far EASIER for the world's best players in what is supposed to be the highest and most challenging level on the planet. I can't even begun to tell you how ass-backwards counter intuitive that is. It's a got damn shame. That's what it is. But Mike though...you guys like or what? Prettaaayyy Prettaaayyy good, right? Man was it fun to be a routine nightly witness to this shit. Could watch Jordan a thousands times over for days on end and never get tired of it. The man...was a genius. A legend. Like Leonardo DaVinci, or Michelangelo, Benjamin Franklin and on and on...Michael Jordan was like that. JUST like that. Not a national treasure, but rather an all time historic forever and ever WORLD treasure.

man first off I wanna thank you for commenting this much . This means the world to us, much love ! And yes MJ , man I don’t know how he did what he did , definitely a alien lol.

Was thinking the exact same thing as I was watching this. So many young kids watch these videos and miss so much about what he was doing vs the league and the differences between then and now. These two genuinely seem to understand that and it makes watching their reaction so much more enjoyable.

Great comment, BTW how were those encounters with Jordan?! He's known for often being rude

Check out the Michael Jordan Voyager rare video of you haven't already. There's also a video of nothing but circus shots and reverse layups. He did that almost more often than dunking. A true talent

Lebron might be 2 or 10, because the distance between 2 & 10 is closer than 1 & 2. If 6/6 in the Finals while literally MAKING 2-3 of your teammates HOF’ers isn’t enough? Then you go to the eye test, which is the most pro-Jordan argument. Give Mike 3” and 50 lbs? But the why he’s the GOAT, no question because he accomplished far more being “smaller, slower, and weaker” than Lebron could dream. Mike never joined a super team, so take away the Miami days and him joining AD? 1 ring? Lebron joined future HOF’ers, MJ made HOF’ers…

Agreed, it's MJ then the rest and there's some good arguments to be had there as to the rest of the top 10.
@marvinmarshall92573 ай бұрын
I agree but not with the slower or weaker MJ posted up everybody even big men . I’d say prime Jordan is faster than lebron

I think Jordan's bounce runs in the family cuz his brother is 5'9 and he could dunk pretty easily

MJ lay package was/is unmatched. Kyrie Irving, Ja, to name a few honestly don't compare to me. Michael's hands are what separates him from the rest. His ability to palm the ball with ease gives him superior control around the rim when facing multiple defenders and hands trying to contest the shot. He can maneuver the ball, readjust, contort his body while maintaining balance and touch because of his athleticism and hand size. He's 6-6 with hands larger than CENTERS, and legit 46 inch vert (I would be willing to bet 48 in a controlled test). He can take contact while keeping control of the ball PALMED IN HIS HAND. That's not normal...

Players would get hurt for showing off when Mike came in the league they had players that would check in just to lay guys out an try an intimated them on a psychological level with the threat of physical injury or something career ending ....guys didn't start stretching out like they do now until the league made no tolerance an the fines an suspensions could cost millions.
@Carl-gj4ed Жыл бұрын
Centres back in the day actually played defence and were paid to do so. You stop MJ for pride and you stop MJ for a paycheck regardless if you get posterised or not. Nowadays big men are paid to shoot 3s. Dennis Rodman wouldn't have a career in this era because he couldn't shoot but he was averaging 20 rebounds a game. Shaq would have a hard time too along with Barkley. It was a different game and it was physical. You earned your buckets back in the day when no one was shooting 3s.

That's right. Kawhi. I grew up in the MJ era, and you're right, Kawhi plays the most like him. Maybe not quite the grace, of Mike but all around player.

Think Ja being three inches taller, huge hands, better fundamentals, and much better defense, that's basically Jordan

I believe you guys are mistaking Muggsy Bouges (5ft 3in) with Spud Webb (5ft 6in), whose vert was 46.5in.
