Superboy was a favorite of mine in the 70s and 80s, so I naturally had plenty of exposure to the Legion, too. This was a really fun video.

Fabulous video and what a treat to see some of your Legion collection while spinning a great tale, my cheeks ache from that smile on my face. Some sad news for you .. there was a 13th volume of the DC Archives and I think it fits perfectly upto Superboy & Legion of Super-Heroes hardcover volume 1. I'd buy compendiums and I'm looking forward to DC Finest's line of Legion, I missed out on Archives and Showcase Presents only went so far. You cool kids rock.

Well, it's certainly lonely NOW, when a) there's no regular comic, b) the writers & editors don't know or like the book, and, of course, c) Lightning Lad Has Two Mommies. But once upon a time, Legion fandom wasn't quite so hopeless!

Always love it when you talk about comics Steve (and bless you a few times!) and am always baffled once again by DC and Marvel machine gunning their feet to jelly… the last two decades have been opportunity after opportunity to revive comic books, why didn’t they do it, why… I feel the same with mass market paperbacks too, more and more publisher are even moving into POD books (eg Necroscope, Saberhagen, Vance’s delon princes, Brust’s Dragaera novels are now POD and always trade paperback size for some reason) but there was really no reason for that to happen and eg books in supermarkets still sell though they are garbage and overpriced but anyway… Thanks for the video again, one question, is there a good starting point for the legion?

I'm a huge Legion fan and still have some of the comics from the 60s but there is another comic I am a huge fan of but which you don't hear much about anymore and I only have one issue with them in it and that's the Atomic Knights who I think should have been featured more prominently

My start with the Legion of Super-Heroes came with the September 1964 issue of Adventure Comics, after my cousins introduced me to the world of DC superheroes. I was dazzled by the variety of super powers displayed by the Legion and their adversaries in that issue. I was a regular reader from that point forward. And don’t worry. I did save that issue and I still have it, along with the others.

The Legion Archives 10 book's cover was not original, either. It's a collage of Dave C's costume reference guide. I almost always wondered why there wasn't an Amazon, if not Diana herself, as a Legion member (re: Diana [hey! She's now bisexual! And pro-violence!]: once the Legion accepted adults. But why wouldn't the Legion go back in time to collect her as well as Clark and Kara?). Lots of people have theorized that Supergirl joined the Legion before Superboy did, because of background members appearing and the order in which they joined. Did I miss it, or did you leave out the live character Legion appearances in Smallville and (I think) a few other TV shows? If the Legion were so popular at Point X, why did DC allow John Byrne to eliminate them? Why don't you like Cockrum's costumes? I designed one of them! They were spectacular upgrades. And it's okay to have LGBT+ representation in the Legion. Better if they fit in these qualities to the legacy or hand it to new members, though. It's also okay to have non-white members and to make the male-female ratio more equal. Well, DC doesn't know how to publish exciting fantasy any more. There are bits and pieces here and there, but not enough to keep up with 'em. Someone once told me (in a conference) that at the core of fantasy is good vs. evil. It is this that truly excites readers. DC forgot that long ago.

The three Legion founders did indeed make their first-ever live-action appearance on "Smallville" - when Cosmic Boy starts gushing over meeting Clark Kent, Lightning Lad immortally quips "You're acting like a sub"!
