What surprises me is why most African Americans who are choosing to settle in Africa are not going to Liberia,but are instead going to east Africa and Southern Africa.most of their ancestors are west African and so it would make sense to go to west Africa and settle there.they could also help to develop places like Liberia and Sierra Leone.mind you Liberia was set up to accommodate African Americans.
@tinawalker67703 жыл бұрын
Some àfrican Americans want to go to places in àfrica that are far much developed like Ghana, South Africa, and other places but not places like Liberia or Freetown. Secondly, Liberia visa is too expensive compared to Ghana. Traveling to Ghana the regular visa is $100 for 3 years to 5 years, where as traveling to Liberia for the same regular visa is $120 to $150 for just 3 months. Ghana is even more developed than Liberia now which is not a surprised because of the civil war Liberia had. How do you aspect people to travel back and forth, and help boost the economy when 3 months visa price is more than Ghana. Even 1 year visa to Liberia is about $200 plus. Someone can travel to Ghana twice or more within a year for just their regular visa that cost $100. Liberia is not really safe especially with electricity problem. It is very scary as an Àfrican American to travel to any Àfrican country and have to sleep in darkness. There is also water problem and the roads are hardly paved. Most Àfrican American like the country side to buy land , establish their own small businesses. They can not do that cuz everything has to be done in the city and the city is already conjested. Liberians themselves don't mind but even with that on mind there is still fear going to Liberia. so these are just few reasons why most Àfrican Americans are not traveling to Liberia as they would have wanted to travel to Liberia. Àfrican Americans have done their homework and Liberia is one of the Àfrican countries that is not a safe place to go or live. Lights and water are very important in any country. The former president, stayed in office for 12 years and she never electricfy the city, Monrovia. It is not even the whole of Liberia. Now president Weah is the one carrying the burden, yet he is not being credited for his efforts and folks don't want to be patient. More foreign aids were given to the former president than the present, president Weah.

This is a city? The contrasts I am seeing in what some people are able to build and what the standard of life of the majority of the population is strange! This apartment would be an outstanding apartment even in America . But look outside and you see a very underdeveloped country . The inequities are extreme!
@liberia-totheworld96283 жыл бұрын
You’re right That’s the downside of developing countries, right now building codes aren’t being enforced so you’ll see that a lot I can tell u thought that it’s changing slowly, more people are now replacing their zinc round house to standard ones Thanks for watching
