This is the way my grandmother would cook before my grandfather went to milk the cows at 4 am, I loved waking up early to get breakfast with him before he left. This is also the way I cook for my boys. Making food from scratch is so much more rewarding. Using your hands for growing food, canning, knitting, sewing, or praying are all useful task. As a young mom (28 this year) that Homeschools, these are skills I want to pass on to my sons. Getting back to the basics, I loved it!

My grandparents, who lived across the road from us, had a wood cook stove. One of my earliest memories is waking up to the smell of homemade sausage and biscuits with a fried egg and oatmeal. I still heat with wood and raise a garden. This took me way back, to some really great times. We didn’t play music but spent many hours sitting around twisting tobacco or hand rolling sausage to cook up and can. Thanks for the wonderful memories.

Her family raised meat livestock and raised a large garden. As a cild I never understood why grandpa never had electricity or indoor plumbing. My mother would tell her children how she was raised. Life was hard, but very rewarding. The girls of the family would always help out in the house & garden. The boys would tend to the livestock or father firewood or coal to heat with. They would hunt everyday and it wasn't unusual for grandpa to have fried squirrel with biscuits & gravy for breakfast. They provided everything that they needed just by the things that they raised. I have been blessed by learning the way my mother cooked. I miss not being able to be a child again and enjoy grandpas way of life as an adult.

My fathers family came from Lenoir North Carolina and at one time they lived in Boone, NC. He played the drums, his brother played the piano as well as his mother. My brother & I did not learn an instrument. My grandfather on mothers side played the violin and his family came from Ashville, NC.

If your name is Taylor then you are Scottish and a descendent of the Scottish clan Cameron of the Highlands region in Scotland and many of them come from the Vikings.

@@carolynetter8046 Thankyou, so interesting. I know that one of my great grandmothers is of Scotish Heritage. My mother in law was born in Scotland. She wondered where I descented from and suggested English. Yes

@@shirleytaylor186 As the name comes from Scotland you have ancestors or relatives from the Scottish Highlands and the Taylors go back to the Scottish royal clan Cameron of the Scottish Highlands. You can order coffee mugs and other items with the Taylor royal clan Cameron coat of arms on it from Scotland on the internet. There are lots of Scottish clans. The word clan comes from the Old Testament and means children of God.

Tipper, this was just wonderful! I didn't want it to end! I have had so much going on and somehow missed when you started this series, but so thankful I had time to sit and enjoy it today. The production of the video was great, also. Just SO enjoyable to watch! I told Zach you cook breakfast just like I do. I loved it all and am so thankful you all put so much into doing these. God bless you and your family this Christmas season!

Oh my goodness! I live in Colorado, and this lifestyle is foreign to me, so this was so interesting (and mildly exhausting watching the incredible work you do in your every day lives!) But the music! Oh, that music! What a beautiful moment that added to my morning today! Thank you so much!

Y'all sure gave a pretty definition to: the family that plays together stays together. We sure spend a lot of time workin' on food. Then again, we know how it's grown and where it came from. Many blessings to you and yours from the Midlands of South Carolina. ~Sherrie

I had no idea that other little girls made mud pies or played in the dirt. Or played music around the kitchen table. Brings back good family memories from 50 and 60 years ago. Thank you this is Jan 23, 2021. Love this video especially breakfast and the musicians playing the music. It is 3:00 am. And the.music will serve as a lullaby as I drift off to sleep. You made my day better and it is easier to fall asleep.

Wow! The music is awesome. The song is haunting. I could hear the Celtic influence. And it's so well played! To be able to make music is a wonderful gift. You tell your girls and husband I said so. BTW - I love cream gravy. I make it every time I cook up chicken-fried steak. It's wonderful on rice as well as biscuits. This whole video made me feel at home. ❤
