Hey ya’ll!
First off all thanks for watching!
This video was not made to offense or spread bad vibes toward anyone. This is me telling ya’ll how I faced racism in my childhood till my adult life here in Belgium.
I tried my best to highlight the things that I could remember the best and things I felt comfortable sharing.
I could talk hours about racism and discrimination not only in Belgium but around the whole world.
It’s a sad and an ugly thing but it’s up to us humans to make the best of it and unite as one against those people and situations.
I hope this video touched someone in a positive way or helped someone.
Know that you are not alone and seek help in time!
If you have any questions don’t hesitate and contact me.
Much love and positive vibes LesleyLiliana ♡

I had the same experience. My brother and I were the ONLY black children in this elementary school in NY. When I was in third grade...my teacher read my private journal too, out loud in front of the class. I was humiliated; I was only 8 years old. Also, a different incident, an adult dressed up as the Easter bunny (because of the costume, I did not know who it was) punched me and knocked me to the floor when I was in first grade! All kids went up to him in excitement to get a treat from the basket he was holding. But any time I tried he would push me away from him and say mean things to me quiet enough for no one else to hear but me. Each time I went up to him he would be stronger and stronger and by the fourth (last) time I was on the very hard floor. I'll never forget that experience. Every adult who saw pretended they didn't see anything so I waited until I got home and told my father. My dad came up to the school the next day and raised hell!!! 😘Thanks dad; love you!!!

I don't know if it was the content, his tone or the fact that he spoke to you at all that you found offensive but, I don't see how that experience is equivalent to what my & others experiences you've read were. You might not have liked hearing that but, at least he told you the truth (something EXTREMELY rare coming from an old white guy). Please stop laughing.

Kids are kids, they annoy eachother. They look for the most obvious physical difference in others and use those to bully. Wethere it's color of skin, having red hair, freckles, glasses, not having a certain brand of cellphone etc. They'll always find something. This is typical behaviour for children, and the vast majority grow out of that phase. Schools are also working more and more to combat bullying, but kids are kids, they are gonna do kid stuff. At a certain age, bullying due to skincolor is pretty much the same as being bullied for having red hair, kids simply aren't aware of racism. They are just jostling for position in the pecking order. When it comes to police etc the same mechanic is still at work, they focus their effort on "others", and that doesn't necessarily mean ppl of different skill, when i grew up, there were virtualy no ppl of colour around, but I was the buy with long hair, so i got stopped by police all the time. In areas where there are more ppl of colour those ppl get focussed on instead. We need to adress this instinct that ppl have to focus on "others", as this is at the root of racism and any form of institutional discrimination.

Why the suprise, Belgium is an extremely brutal colonizer history. Many of these countries have never been held accountable for these deeds, so how can we/you move too these places and expect differences and acceptance. History of these places and people repeat & repeat this behaviors. I feel they will never change, so be careful where you move your black children, feeling it's less violent. Always be aware of these choices.

The issue is there's so many ignorant people in Belgium... (and all other ex-imperial white countries). Our school system doesn't teach us the nasty stuff we did in the colonies, when talking about the Industrial Revolution all I've ever heard was that it was due to our improving technologies, population growth, a self-sufficient growth while not talking even one minute about how slavery made Britain great and how imperialism gave us access to the riches of the world. And then I'm not even talking about how colonialism is still alive, reflected in the unequal trade system which still sustains the exports of high-manufactured products versus imports of cheap primary resources. Or how many ex-French colonies are still in debt to pay back for "the destruction that decolonisation has brought to the French achievements in the colonies". Our world has not decolonized yet, racism is still the underlying factor behind relationships between different states on so many levels. And meanwhile racism is transmitted from parent to child. Me too, I am white and my parents have never told me when I was young about how I should be respectful towards other races. Not that they were racist on purpose but they were just not aware. Because I was interested in this topic from a young age and am studying history I have educated myself - but so many people just accept what their parents are telling them without being critical. Ignorance is not bliss it is dangerous!!!

As far as the TMJ problem, that might be because of an imbalance between the muscles groups left and right, possible. Unless the ramus was fractured on one side and grew shorter. The imbalance in the muscle group, like the pterygoid, can be treated. Imbalance can cause wear and tear on the disc and early arthritis and you’re still young to get something done about that.

I remember the first Africans in our school in a Flemish village. Some kids were horrible to them, monkey sounds, bananas on their seats and stuff like that. After I went to school in Brussels and there it was totally different. They were treated as anyone else.

Yow, I am so sorry to hear about everything that happened to you. I am truly sad about all the racism and discrimination in Belgium and I actively support the need for change. But for the love of God, can the people in the comments not judge the whole of Belgium based on a part of its population. There are many bad people but there are also a lot of good people, as in every country. It saddens me to see that people don't want to visit Belgium as if every single person is evil here. I have never met such assholes as mentioned in the video. I'm not saying that there aren't any, I'm just saying that we're not all bad and many of us want change. (context: I live near Brussels)

Both my childhood and my adulthood (i’m 19) have been great so far ofcourse there’s the black pete thing that pops up every single year but it’s not only black people that are against it, but also many whites and they’re actually trying to change it by calling it root pete instead of black pete so they’re really trying to make it work

I also experianced something like that in Brussels. I am an Indian and was on business trip to Brussels in last May. During my leisure time in the evening, I was walking through streets and asked an aged couple for direction to a station (In English), he replied with ugly expressions : " I don't speak french". I didn't understand at the moment but after reading through I came to realize that as I am dark in skin, he may have thought I was of african origin. That was dumb. :D. One another was, I saw a young couple (probably kids) high af with red deep eyes and laughing hysterically, walking past by me, pointed towards a hugh garbage dump and asked me, "Monsieur, Do you live in there ?" I can only say. Before going there, I was under impression that the city will be clean with good people. Brussels proved me wrong.

You are very articulate. Some blacks tell about their experiences of racism but they do not tell about the specific horrific incidents. They will not be direct, because they are too timid to offend any viewers. You are giving viewers a real view of what their experiences might be like if they come. I have met Belgians in Miami, and they are very different than other western Europeans. This is from my experience as an African American.
