I love that you and your sister are having this experience together. My sister is 4 years younger than I am and we lived together a couple years before beginning our separate lives of marriage, traveling for work, and in her case starting a family. We still laugh together about those couple years.

Those shots of the old kyoto streets on the hill bring back memories, i stayed at a ryokan just around the corner, so expensive but i thought i may never get to come to japan again so why not, oh and also i bought a fan for my daughter probably at the shop that you showed, i went in late august so humid as hell.

Just one mention about Nakano Broadway's US military surplus store(s). None of the items in there are real US military jackets, helmets, etc. So if you're looking for real items that isn't the store for you, however if you're just looking to buy for the fun of it and don't mind spending a couple extra bucks for something that isn't legit then you should find that it's not a problem. Just thought I would mention that for those curious :)
