My life is about to change...

The key is creating a surf lifestyle that is sustainable long term. For that you need a house near the coast. Renting and buying are both now ridiculously expensive; therefore the reality is you need a good income, which is going to involve working full time in a job that pays reasonably well. If you don’t create that income, you’re left with shared houses, living with family, or lodging - and even that isn’t cheap now. That does of course mean less freedom owing to work, but it means you can sustain the surf lifestyle long term. March to October you can get out in the sea before or after work. Travelling around is great, but not sustainable because most people want to settle down. And the truth is that settling near the coast now requires a solid source of income owing to rental and house prices. Therefore to make it a longterm lifestyle choice you really need a career that pays reasonable well. Whilst living for the moment is fun, living a surf lifestyle longterm means you have to find a sustainable way to permanently afford living by the coast. That may mean you miss some surf sessions owing to work, but the big benefit is that you get to enjoy more sessions over the long term.

Good luck. You're never too old for change. Life is short, enjoy it! We're in our sixties. I know, ANCIENT! We're going to downsize, maybe buy a caravan, AGAIN. Hit the road, see where it takes us. Definitely try and find the sunshine in the winter! Canary Islands maybe. Can only go for 90 days due to Brexit. 90 days is still better than 0 days! Safe journey home. It’s funny. I went through the exact opposite 1,5 year ago. I was so into the normal life. Having a bf into only saving money, saving for a house and not living life. It sucks tbh. Now I am living my life, traveling around, working less than 5 hours a day. And buying a house? No thanks haha. But you do you! And if that feels right than go for it 🙌🏻🚀 Goodluck!

Yeah figuring out finances as an adult is kinda hard to begin with but happy to share my journey! Yes defo bittersweet but I see the light at the end of the tunnel! I feel you soooo much!!😅 For years I had this dream to live in Norway, and when I started dating my bf we started looking for jobs there and he got an amazing job opportunity in a small city up north, so we moved there. After two months I could only find a waitress job with really bad conditions, away from our family and I really hated my life back then. After almost 1 year in Norway we decieded to move to a place where it was easier to find a nice job, and when we took this decision I was sooooo sad, because it was my dream and I felt like giving up :( but now, 4 years later, I know it was what I needed and it increased my selfsteem and made me much happier 😄 So yes, it does't matter if your dreams change, the most important is to follow your heart 🥰🥰
