One visible sign of a self realized person is the peace and joy he exudes. Swami Kriyananda exudes this peace and joy. A truly self realized person has no attachment for anything except being immersed in his true Self which is God. Kriyananda exudes all these true qualities of a truly self realized person. He also displays in this lecture that a self realized person need not be a serious recluse, he can be very much human, with a great sense of humor and yet be one pointed in being immersed in God. His humility is another reflection of his self realization. A beautiful lecture. Thanks, Swamiji.

No human being can truly approve of selfishness. In our hearts we all know selfishness is ugly. We all know it's important to take care of one another. Somehow, when people become "spiritual" they think that putting their own "growth" above everyone else's wellbeing is ok. But that's so OBVIOUSLY not true. Thanks for responding.

Dear students of Yogananda and Kriyananda; I think most of you will agree that all truly great teachers want their students (disciples) to go beyond them. For example, if I were teaching the piano, what I really want is for my students to get better at playing the piano than I. If you accept this as being true, the time has come for you to understand that God Realization is not the end; it is only a beginning, a new kind of beginning. A beginning for those who are willing to do so... to enter into the highest degree of samadhi they can... and now no longer shut their eyes or fall over in ecstasy. We can now stay conscious in samadhi. And yes, we can learn to walk in samadhi, we can learn to talk in samadhi, learn to eat in samadhi, etc., etc., in ecstasy. This (next) level will allow each student to graduate beyond the world-of-polarities and/or the world-of-opposites. We no longer have to suffer in order to feel joy or be unhappy in order to be happy. Up and down, up and down. That time is over. We can now live without all those seeming opposites. In a God-born ecstasy, one will soon realize that God doesn't have to an opposite. Life doesn't actually have an opposite. The opposite of death is birth. Life is Eternal. God knows it. Your great teachers like Lahiri, Donald, and Babaji are knowing it. So why not know it yourself. It's not a matter of great effort or good works; it's a matter of Grace. Sincerely, Rt. Rev. Charles Vincent Davis, A.T.O.M.

Livia C. de Freitas kriya yoga is Lahiri mahsaya, not yogananda. He was just a messenger for the teachings and a realized master in those teachings. And is open to all, given by any kriyaban regardless of organizational ties. Heck I have seen highly advance people who learn kriya from books. God does not make disticntion of people or organization.
@boardsandstuff50088 жыл бұрын
Livia C. de Freitas the first yogi was initiated by God himself. You need grace, without it kriya yoga is useless to a point. You will reach a level where God opens the door. Truth universal is open to all at any time, in any place. Small truth is confined to people, places and organization. Look at the essence behind the form.
@boardsandstuff50088 жыл бұрын
Livia C. de Freitas Gods will was to all to return to him. Master was aiding that goal by bringing kriya to the west, but as he suggested there are several techniques similar to kriya, that is it was a truth revealed to many men who seek God with sincerity, not a copyrighted information to be held in a monopolistic fashion. Any kriyaban can initiated others in kriya. Master did befor having his training with Sri yukteswar. Look beyond, It is God the goal the masters are guides in the road to the sacred wedding. If you love the organization more that him, you are not worthy of him.
@boardsandstuff50088 жыл бұрын
Livia C. de Freitas dear one sorry that your delusions don't let you see. God nor master make distinction of persons, if you see in autobiography of a yogi Kriya yoga was given by babaji to Lahiri Mahasaya, he then ask this avatar if he could give a kriya to even those who weren't all that ready spiritually but have a desire. He consent. There is even stories of master teaching kriya to alcoholics. Because God love all and all must return to Him. He makes no distinction we breathe the same air and have the same water criminals and saints alike. Swami kriyananda is was not perfect but he never claimed to be, he never claimed to be above master or remotely close. His fruits have been for the most par spiritual in nature and kriya has been a gift for the world all of the world but not a select few who delude themselves to think that they are better. Let go of you ego or it will keep enslaving you and your organization loyalty is your heaviest chain. Your words show the level of your spirit. Sorry my the divine bless you every day.

It should sister. And, my heart goes out to you. Many of us in the western world mistake the life path that was laid down for the sage. In ancient times, a person would live life, raise a family, have a career, etc. in the first half of life. Then, once the children are grown, and they retire from work, they would then renounce the material world, and become a sage. Think, how else could one be wise enough to counsel people. Unfortunately, these days, some mistakenly see it as a way to escape.

I appreciate your comments. You're right, it's up to me to be okay for the sake of those I care about, & for my own sake. You said, "There is no one who can help you except for your own soul." Human beings do need love & support from others, AND we need to be self-responsible, both. You also said, "There is no question of meditation drawing a person away from his loved ones." In this case, my husband's selfish desire to be fulfilled drew him away. He chose that OVER love and responsibility.

Leo, you're right. To become bitter will not help, and I have a responsibility to my kids not to. I am only left with plenty of questions. I myself want to live a right life, and be united with God. But I see that oftentimes people who take to the spiritual path -- especially meditation it seems -- become very self-focused, often to the point of being selfish. It seems to be a path with many pitfalls, and most people seem to fall in them. I want to find a path where love and humanity MATTER.
@monamainguard941111 жыл бұрын
Ran out of space so I'm continuing in a second comment: Anyway, feeling into it, I am deeply convicted that to love, and be compassionate, and to care for everyone and everything within your scope is of utmost important, and that far too many spiritual seekers skip over that, and go straight for the "gold" of enlightenment-whatever that is. This is the only thing I am sure of for now. That, and also that I WOULD be very unwise to spend my life being bitter about this. ;-)
