Thank you so much for sharing your life in Capacities. Could you also do a video of your daily/weekly/monthly workflow capturing the notes and updating it in your other objects? I'd love to see how your Object Type Goals are connected to your Home Page and other periodic Objects (week/monthly/quarterly). It would be fantastic to have a mind map for a visual representation of the relationships and links between all your objects and your Home Page.

I love your transparency in moving systems. I battle myself as I use Obsidian and Standard Notes but I am relooking at Capacities now that they have a Local-first Privacy mindset that they are shifting too and I like that the exports are still in Markdown so I can always use Obsidian if I have too.

I really enjoyed this. Thank you for taking the time to share your LifeOS. I have been trying to figure out how to remember more of my life as I too have a habit of forgetting large chunks of it and I don't want to do that. Especially while my kids are young and the chaos of life can be overwhelming. I really love your set up. You've inspired me to move forward with getting started in Capacities and I definitely want to include the essence portion as well as add a 'daily stories' component where I write down stories from my day or anecdotes so I don't forget them!

Thank you so much for sharing your setup. It is really helping me wrap my head around how I want to set up, which is by Personal Sprints. I like to break my goals and habits into 3 week sprints plus 1 week of retrospective and planning for the next sprint. I break each sprint down into (3) areas of focus - Health and Key Relationships, Quality of Life and Personal Growth and Career. I do have weekly reviews to apply learnings and course corrections and to make sure I’m staying on track. And I maintain a backlog of areas/projects to consider for future sprints. I’m currently using 4 different apps to do this, but a LifeOS would be wonderful!

How did I miss seeing this. I love your content Beth. Watching this makes me lean towards Capacities again. The back link in the daily note to see what you have been working on is huge. I leant to Anytype because you can have Galleries and Kanban views etc. Then I was reminded about Timestripe and got distracted 😂. I love your idea of essence, you described it perfectly. I swear you are the person I would be if all these digital tools existed when I was your age.

Hi Beth! Really interesting video, as always, thanks! I found the Essence idea very relevant and resonated a lot with your motivations about living more consciously by doing this whole Life OS practice. How painful/easy was the transition process from Notion to Capacities ? Did you do all the work manually to transfer your data? And if you were one day to switch to another tool, would Capacities allow enough data ownership and interoperability to do so easily? Also, I think it would be awesome for Capacities to enable object-type inheritance like Tana does, to add specific properties to sub-types as well as grouping types together in parent types (Tana even allows for multiple inheritance). Bon courage dans ton apprentissage du français 😊
@PKM_Beth8 ай бұрын
Thanks for your comment! Amazing to hear essence resonated with you... I've not moved anything into Capacities yet, I've just started fresh. The export from Notion is a mess and I'm very confused by it, so that's a project in itself. But Capacities allows useful exports into Markdown (settings > backup) which I've done loads of times so I'm happy with that! We have had some requests for inheritance so do upvote the canny ticket if you haven't already so you can stay up to date about it :) capacities.io/feedback/p/sub-databases-inheritance-object-inheritance Et merci beaucoup!!

Hey Beth! Thanks for putting these videos out. I too am migrating from Notion to Capacities so these are very helpful Question for ya! Why do you have a separate day object? Couldn’t you put those relations onto the daily note Capacities has? Thanks! Edit: Actually now I see why. You can’t actually add properties to the daily note. So clever. Going to adopt this.

I have "Date References" in my Daily Note - perhaps something has changed? Although I can see my linked "Day" under the calendar in the right bar because it's linked the date, there is no expandable list under "Date References" like you have with all the properties I added. Does your view still work?

Add a date time property to any object type you’d to create from a button on the daily note :) so my sparks and milestones object types have many properties, a date time property is one of them.

Thank you for opening up our minds to what can be done in this great app. I recently came across a YTer that created a "forever journal" in apple notes. I really liked the idea. I can imagine that their is an easy way to do that in Capacities but I am not sure how. Can you provide any insight? ref: kzbin.info/www/bejne/g4TZY3mAf7p9gck. The key thing that appeals to me is to me able to see past journal entries naturally arise each day. If you show me a way to do this I will move all of my journal entries that are all over the place into one central location.
@PKM_Beth5 ай бұрын
Thanks for your comment! Because Capacities is centred around a calendar, you can go to any day in the past or future and begin a daily note. If you want multiple journal entries per date, create a 'journal' object type with a date property. That will give you a button to quick add a journal entry from the calendar. The workflow would be to use the mini-calendar on the right hand side to choose a date to write on, click "journal" and get writing. That will automatically fill the date property in too. When you go back to the central calendar after writing one or more journal entries, they will all be visible in that one central calendar page. Check out this video to see some of this in action: kzbin.info/www/bejne/n4Csi6uYbpumqposi=T2aWVZTZ_mQvuqOY hope that helps!

Worst of all, without realizing it I created an account with the same email as last time and the tool simply accepted it. How can an application create two accounts with the same email? It is an application with critical errors and low confidence
