Works brilliant with my new Pi5. I enabled the overclock settings. The system ran at 46 degrees 55 max when using it normally. Great stuff and a thumbs up for all your pi videos. Always very useful

Thunar is running as root in the video so I would say of course that works and the other one doesn't, if you ran the default file eplorer as root I would expect it to work as well as Thunar

I don't have a Pi5 to test if it is working there, but on Debian KDE, you can install kio-admin with apt (from terminal) and that gives Dolphin file manager a right-click "Open as Administrator" option. Just a note, that the option only appears in files that need root access to change things (so it won't appear if you right click in Home, Documents, etc., but it will appear in the root folder and external drives). That may save the need for an extra install of the Thunar file manager. Thanks for all the awesome videos!

Thank you for your image as it was helpful. there is one problematic issue that I found with KDE plasma and the build you provided. Using KDE plasma I find that with all the updates with your build that was on Pinn OS and also in your videos there is a keyboard problem with the @ sign that makes it too difficult to sync using Google (can't sync with a correct @ sign available for usage or for that manner using an @with your email. Do you have a fix regarding KDE plasma and the @ sign? this is very critical as using Google sync and an@for email is absolutely essential?

For Transmission, you should have installed the Qt version it offered you, since you're using KDE. Instead, you installed the GTK+ version (GTK is associated with Gnome). It can still work, but it means more dependencies and less seamless integration with your preferred desktop environment.

Using KDE plasma I find that with all the updates with your build that is on Pinn and also in your videos there is a keyboard problem with the @ sign that makes it too difficult to sync using Google or for that matter using an @ signwith your email. Do you have a fix regarding KDE plasma and the @ sign?

Good day! Came across you channel looking for Pi5 related info. Your channel is outstanding. Thanks for sharing the hard work. I'm running your image on a pi 5 8gb and impressed by plasma. A few nuisances as to be expected but have you had any trouble getting VNC server working under kde plasma Wayland (default environment)? Need ability to remote into the pi but looks like this is broken. It would probably work in x11 but really trying to stick to my guns with Wayland. Thanks for the hard work.

Currently Wayland is not supported if you logout then login to a non Wayland session it works. VNC mentioned working on support for Wayland in the future

Downloaded the KDE Pi5 leeps put on Google works great on the Pi 4 SATA drive. It is "pretty". Just had to adjust a bit for the "Americano" version )

The 2nd image is exactly performing the same as the 1st image on a Pi 4. Obviously there's a lot of magic that Pi 5 brings to the community. From reviewing both images I'd say there's a market for building SOE's on Pi 5 and distributing them to Pi 4 users, can't speak for lesser versions because this won't work however there's enough proof from the tests I've done to establish the potential for others to test and review. Don't have a Pi 5 myself to create images to share however in the future that a possibility.

Do you know why firefox has that weird icon on the window title at 2:38? It looks like a white "W" in a yellow circle. I've been playing around with this from scratch and thought I had done something wrong. It looks OK on the Plasma on X11 desktop so maybe something that Wayland has caused (W for Wayland perhaps??)

I've followed your last guide of installing kde plasma desktop and almost everything works fine. Just one thing seems pretty annoying. I'm trying to use VNC viewer to remote connect to my pi5. It works fine in Raspberry OS, but it only shows the log-in screen correctly in kde. After I input my password and hit enter, it turns into a black screen. Same scenario for VNC and Windows Remote Desktop. So I think the remote connection does work. But there might be some issue within the kde desktop environment.

Log out and log back in to I think x11 Raspberry Pi OS. VNC doesn’t work currently with Wayland. They say it’s being worked on

Thanks for the image, but the piKiss seems a bit obsolete / not working on the pi5, for example retroarch was simpler to install with a sudo apt install retroarch.

Great video! I downloaded and install on my 4b ; 5b still hasn't arrived. took some doing to figure out how to delete the 'kde' user and replace it with my own... but was able to figure it out. One thing I have always used is 'conky'. would be great to do a video on how to install and get working on kde plasma / bookworm. Nothing I've found online gets me there. Because bookworm , and Rpi5 are so new; I'm assuming compatibility issues will be there? thanks again for your videos ... always enjoyable.

Have installed Conky on the 1st image with no problems, this was on a 4 8Gb and running perfectly. Normal install via terminal and custom /etc/conky/conky.conf

I can’t think of a Pi 5 running anything beyond 60HZ apart from maybe some fps games on Linux. What are you trying to run beyond 60Hz?

Aaa, I thought it would be max 60hz on 4k and more with lower resolutions... 1920x1080 with 100hz would be nice, well cant have everything, still great little thing for its price. I only have a 34" ultrawide that I use with 3440x1440 100hz with windows. I guess I need t ask around if anyone has a old hdmi monitor laying around, then I can use both at the sametime when I need help :)

please can you make a tutorial on how to install debian bullseye on an orange pi 5b, i have been trying and followed the tutorial for the orange pi5 but when i put the sd card (with linux on it) before i turn it on it just stays stuck on the orange pi logo, i think that it's because it's trying to launch orange pi os droid (which was preinstalled in the pi when i got it) and launch kde plasma from the sd but it stays stuck. if i could get any help it would be great

I upgraded my RPi4 8Gb to Bookworm and installed KDE-Plasma and so far it's running very well. I'm running the Wayland version of KDE-Plasma. Lee's instructions for the Pi5 should work just fine.🐵

How to point the Pi to boot from the M.2 sudo rpi-eeprom-config --edit change; BOOT-ORDER=0xf416 then shut down & remove other drives leaving only the M.2 To get Gen3 speeds on the M.2 sudo nano /boot/config.txt add; dtparam=pciex1 dtparam=pciex1_gen=3
