My grandmother (also named Margie), was presentable -hair done, a bit of makeup, dressed for the day-until the day she died. Not fancy, just nice. She was a good example on so many levels.

Loved this show! It was wonderful seeing the beautiful English actress Hilary Brooks. She had a running role in this as neighbor and girlfriend. Her clothes and hair in this episode were timeless and so elegant.

Gail Storm born in 1922 was also a recording artist and had numerous top 10 hits. She recovered from alcoholism in the 1970s and wrote an autobiography about it. She had 4 children and a long life. She died in 2009.

I was born in 1958. I remember watching this in the very early 60s. Never saw it again growing up. All I could remember was the name of the show. Thanks for showing me it wasn't just my imagination.

That's how businesspeople dressed at that time. men wore suits and ties; women wore dresses and stockings. Having your hair done was all part of it. And tennis shoes were NEVER worn except to play sport games, or to work around the yard. A far more elegant time.

I used to love this show. How disappointing it is to realize now that it was so manipulative. I wish I didn't see this. It ruins my memories of how much I used to enjoy it.

I like the modern decor in their apartment. Dropping by for breakfast must be an old 1950s tradition. Margie's always "teaching dad a lesson." I love the backstage activity as Dad is given his lesson.

It was a tradition during and before the 1950s. The 60s had lots of cultural changes. Though some parts of the country still have the tradition; especially if someone has just a big life event: bought a home, lost a loved one, etc. I try to bring breakfast; it's more kind.

OMG! I haven't thought of this show in years. I was born in 1949 and this was one of my favourite shows. I loved Gale Storm. This show and Love that Bob with Bob Cummings, Hey Jeannie about a Scottish immigrant girl arriving in the USA and Spring Bride (?) oh also my Mum's favourite the Garry Moore show with Durwood Kirby. Wish I could go back to those days I was so happy then not knowing anything about the world!! Also wish my older brother was still alive so I could sent him the link to this site he would have loved it. Miss you lots Dave!

I was born in 1960. but I remember the reruns of this during the 60s/70s along with I Love Lucy, Honeymooners, Father Knows Best and Superman. Only broadcast TV back then, so you were lucky if you got more then 4 or 5 stations. Fortunately, I lived only about 20 miles from NYC so we received quite a few stations, seven in all. Which was a lot for back then.

I watched some episodes in reruns in the 60s. Always liked this programe. The apartment is fabulous with that post deco "Moderne" style just prior to midcentury modern. Everyones so well mannered and dressed. Of course this wasn't life for everyone back then but so delightful.

This show makes me want to go to the beauty parlor, wear a pretty dress, and smoke a cigarette. I know women weren't always "put together" in those days, but we have fallen far regarding our dress and manners.

The wardrobe and the manners are very admirable, but they are severely overshadowed by the actual plot which highlights just what a totally unnecessarily sad existence women were forced into in those days.

@@angieherrera1850 What was sad, bordering on pathetic was how the girls desperately got plotted together to "trick" him into going back to a woman that he CLEARLY did not care about but waited for him anyway since financial security could not be found by any other means. Very sad....well written but sad premise.

It's nice to see Gale Storm. For many years, she and her then husband Lee Bonnell owned a house just outside of Elkhart, Indiana - my mother's hometown. Bonnell was originally from South Bend. In the early 1950s, she and Jean Hagen (Tee Danny Thomas Show) put the South Bend-Elkhart "Michiana" area on the map!

@ millenniumman75: Interesting. Elkhart connection here. Like most commenters here I remember watching this show as a kid in the 50's. Huge fan of Gale Storm. Don't forget about Beulah Bondi from nearby Valparaiso, Indiana George Bailey's mother in It's A Wonderful Life. I played in a varsity basketball game against Elkhart Central in 1964. I think they were ranked number one in the state at that time and we lost by six points. I also was the lead architect for several renovations and expansion projects at Elkhart General Hospital in the mid 2000's. They were a very demanding client but we developed trust in each other. Unfortunately the town has declined in the last two or three decades due to the common plagues of many American towns but experienced a bit of a comeback lately. Apologies for the rambling off topic comments. My Little Margie was a jewel of a show to me. As I have watched brief clips it has become a really great cultural bit of charming and innocent nostalgia filled with nuances of the day. God Bless

A "humdinger"...a dollar for a bowl of soup...dig that crazy vapor..."well, whoopdeedoo"...when 'gay' meant 'happy'. ๏‿๏ I'm just in awe! Have to show this to Mom, who'll remember! Strange tho, how our human situations haven't changed content very much in all these years. Just a different way of living. Those huge petticoats were cool - and the gloves too! 💙

I use to really like when Margie would make that" gi..,.,rl" sound when she was exasperated with a situation she had to deal with,especially with her father! I liked Mr.Honeywell,too!

Nice to see Margie, Freddy, Roberta, Vern, and Mr Honeywell again. I missed sering my favorite 'bit' at the end, tho. So sweet, the camera would zoom in on the photo of Margie and her dad, and the photo would 'come to life', and Margie and Vern would make final comments, ending with Vern saying, 'Well, that's my little Margie.' Thanx for the nostalgia trip!

Women were put together better then than now. My mother never went out in public that she didn't look her best. She was absolutely beautiful and looked like a combination of Ava Gardner and Liz Taylor. Besides that she was the Martha Stewart in her day, and very kind.

We didn't own a TV until 1958, but I definitely remember this show because Roberta is my name, too. Another show called "Harrington" with a catchy theme song was one i looked forward to warching. Of course, Our Miss Brooks was always a top choice in those days. Thanks for the memories!

Holy crap! This takes me WAY back- to the days of Captain Kangaroo, and the Howdy Doody show, and Romper Room. I couldn't have been more than 5 or 6 that last time I watched one of these episodes! It looks like this was actually before the days of (what used to be called) "canned laughter".

I watched the reruns of this in the early 60' as kid. Now watching it as an adult, I still think Clarence Kolb is the biggest gasbag on the screen. He was a character actor on the silver screen & tv. You have to see him in the movie "His Girl Friday" with Cary Grant as the corrupt mayor up for reelection and his scenes with Billy Gilbert each upstaging the other. Thanks for posting this....

We didn't have a TV when I was real little and my dad worked nights, as well as days, a lot. We would go to our next doors neighbor's and watch TV with her. My Little Margie was one of our favorites.
