I was very ill when I was about 12 and the doctor said I had to be in bed by 8:00...The Our Miss Brooks film was playing that night on TV and I begged my parents to stay up one more hour. I loved her so much...and still do! ❤

SO How many radio stars failed to make the move to television, but not Eve Arden - totally translated her character. And then twenty years later she's in Grease - still totally on her game. What an amazing gifted natural performer.

She was in many movies, too, beginning in 1929.

She’s been doing plays with her husband, nightclubs, and I don’t think they ever really stopped working. Her husband was also an actor, Brooks West. And they adopted for children. They met while she was doing the television version of our Miss Brooks.
@maniacallaugh17534 ай бұрын
@@seankelly260 Eve and Lucy both made a smooth transition, though Lucy and Desi changed the name and changed the way television shows were made. Our Miss Brooks is a Desilu production, so was Star Trek TOS. That’s so cool. Lucy was the head of the studio for some time and knew almost everyone by name. Aaaaah…. The golden age of television. 📺

Like many baby boomers, I enjoyed watching Richard Crenna's career skyrocket as he became not only well known but well respected for his ability to assume a variety of roles. And I can not comment here without mentioning what a national treasure Eve Arden is...I've loved her since I was in kindergarten.

I lived on the economy, in Germany in the mid-1970's. We would frequently listen to The American Radio Broadcasts, a US Military radio that plays wherever there are bases. My favorite was the 11am airing of Our Miss Brooks. It was amazing how the jokes and skits held up

When I was a kid in the 1970's, my family moved from Colorado to Missouri. I got to meet my new Elementary Principal. She said her name was Mrs Brooks, just like the TV show. I had no clue what she was talking about. I only knew Gilligan's Island and the Brady Bunch. Throughout my life I have heard references to this show. Today I was watching an Elinor Donahue interview and she mentioned the show again. I'm 58 years old., and decided I was going to finally watch an episode to see what this show is about. Today was the day and this video was the episode. 1955 is when my dad graduated HS so this is more from his era. I can now say I've seen the show.

Thank you for the Our Miss Brooks episode, This is Your Past, from May 13, 1955, on the CBS Television Network. BTW, this episode is based on the Ralph Edwards show, This is Your Life, not Groucho Marx's You Bet Your Life, as mentioned in the above description, hence the bringing out on stage of Brooks' friends, co-workers, and one student. Classic comedy sitcom.
