I most definitely don’t mind your voiceover as long as you leave us subtitle, aha. As a deaf viewer, it is very rare to see content creators caring enough to caption their videos :) so thank you so very much for that ❤️ beautiful pony, as always, her hair is gorgeous. Got a chuckle out of me when I saw you applying milliput in the pony’s ears, because it looked sorta like she got hearing aids now! Very coincidental, but still a cute thought to have a deaf pony
@RetroGeekCrafts2 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for your message, I really appreciate you taking the time to write it ☺️☺️ I now always try to add subtitles, unfortunately this is something I hadn't realized before so there are a couple of videos with small intros and no pasted subs (I think they have CC but I will double check!!). I'm really glad you enjoyed the video ♥️
@milktea5432 жыл бұрын
@@RetroGeekCrafts Nah, no worries! The auto did a fine job on these, I think, since the intros were so short and clear. the auto captions generally only have issues with much longer voiced videos and with harder accents. You might be able to see if you can take the auto and tweak them though, but I have no experience with those. Regardless, nah, just go forward. I wouldn’t worry about the older videos.

Closed captioning takes a lot of time and so many KZbinrs don't have the time to edit and also caption. I used to work for a company called "rev" that does a LOT of KZbin captions but I don't know if it's contracted by the creator or what, and what it costs.

I really liked the voice-over ! + I didn't feel glued to my screen + you add some elements I'd never discovered before (think of the "glory pose" : I wasn't aware the poses had names beyond "one leg up pose" hahaha - those are details I'd like to hear more of). For the rest, very solid choices, as ever : great music, great pacing, lovely restoration (I was okay with the red hair, but I can see why you chose to replace it with the softer hue of the pink hair). PS : speaking about details a connaisseur might know... are you aware of any details about the cutie marks? Like, what do they mean, is there always a link with their names, are they copyright-protected, who came up with them, etc. That's also stuff that might be interesting to discuss
@RetroGeekCrafts2 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for your wonderful message ☺️🥰 I'm really glad you enjoyed the video (and the format test). All the ponies had a story, they usually came written in the back of the cards. There was a little background info that also had to do the cutie mark (I have to confess I know very little of the cartoon, so I'm not sure if the stories were taken from there in any, some or all cases! The stories I know talk a lot about the personalities). This is something I'd love to investigate and include in future videos - along with your idea of the little note, which I haven't shown yet because I prerecorded these videos before going on a little holiday. Again thank you so much for your feedback, I always love reading your comments ☺️☺️
@meinhartfrancois2 жыл бұрын
@@RetroGeekCrafts I suppose the cartoon & the cards were part of the marketing, and as such, not tied directly into the toy itself. That would perhaps explain why there are different versions of the same pony. I'm very curious to see what you'll write on your note

I liked the voice over, it made me relax and enjoy the custom without feeling like i'm about to fall asleep(i have ADHD, TDAH en español, which means my brain is really hiperactive sometimes so i can relax or get bored very easily and experience a fake "sleepy" state without things following my bee-full-brain), so, to me, it's a plus, something positive. Also am i the only who saw her hair and body colour and thought of Star Catcher from G3 movies? I love her, she's my favorite pony of all G3, so the similarity makes me feel happy and joy when looking at this sorta "custom" moondancer.

I haven't tried restoring a Breyer model but from my experience doing other toys, I feel it should work well! I'm not sure what the material is. I have done Polly pockets and Star Wars figures (both made of hard plastic) and it worked great, however you have to be careful with any painted areas. I know GI Joe figures can fade with peroxide. I think it depends on the type of paint. I would cover the painted areas with paper tape or tempera paint, just in case! If you check the channel's history there is a video on how to make s UV box, it might help! ☺️☺️

@@RetroGeekCrafts Thanks a bunch! We often use a bleach-water mix soaked into paper towels and placed on stained areas, but fading can be an issue there, too. For age-yellowing, we use painter's tape (aka masking tape) to protect pink areas, which uv will fade. Your techniques are great, and we have MLP fans at our business, too... Is it okay if I post a link to one of your videos on our Facebook page?

This was my favorite pony. I had the mom and baby together.

Poor Spike, he never did get that present to Moondancer. S1E1 G4 reference 😸 Nice job, like the hair colour you chose. The voice over was nice. I agree with Meinhart François, I never knew that the poses had names. I love learning little facts like that. I like the ASMR, the little sounds that accompanies the work. Tend to watch these as I wind down for the night, find them to be very relaxing.

Thank you for your message Jason! I think I will do (or try to do!) versions of the most popular videos, so there's a sound-only one and a music/voice. I'm working towards updating my camera so I can do ASMR, hopefully soon! ☺️☺️

Thanks for adding the warning about removing the pony's head. It seems insignificant but kid me would have been super creeped out because of toy story. It gives you time to skip it or shut your eyes. Also your videos are so calming, especially with the voice over.

No problem ☺️☺️ I'm glad people let me know, now I add notes every time I'm going to cut the pony with the exacto too. I was so use to it it hadn't crossed my mind. Thank you so much for your message 🥰

Hi! Love your content! Since you asked, I enjoy much more the non-voice over videos. For me is super relaxing seeing them, like with those Japanese kitchen ASMR ones. Maybe you can upload both versions :)

Thank you for your feedback! I'd love to do ASMR versions of all videos (I will when I finally update my camera!). I love those knife videos 😁

I am very much new here, but I tend to watch YT restorations of all kinds when just relaxing, I love to hear the voices behind the creators, you have a great voice for this too, calm and explaining. I say keep it that way, but then it all comes down to what you are the most comfortable with doing with your videos. +1

Thank you so much for your comment 🥰😊 That's really kind of you. I love doing the voice over so I will mix videos with an without (my goal is also to do ambient noise only videos, soon I hope!)

the voiceover was really nice! and as always i love what you did to the pony so much. it was probably not intentional, since pink, white and blue go along very well, but a quite transgender pony came out hahah
@RetroGeekCrafts2 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much 😊😊 I didn't realize it was the trans colours but I'm very glad they are 🥰 (I'm working on a trans custom, I need to come up with a cutie mark, please feel free to let me know if you have ideas!)
@satinizer80212 жыл бұрын
@@RetroGeekCrafts ohh that's so cool! if it wouldn't blend too much with the base color, i think just blue, pink and white stars scattered around would be very cute!! or a small "rainbow" coming from behind a cloud, but instead of the rainbow colors, there would be trans flag colors. but honestly basically everything works if the palette is right!
@madderandmadder2 жыл бұрын
@@RetroGeekCrafts You could do a little Easter egg styled marking! Some trans people refer to the moment that they realized they were trans as 'cracking the egg'. And then it's also still a cute pony that fits easily into the MLP world!

gesso is also reversible and water soluble! it's much easier to remove than acrylic paint, and won't damage the factory paint. I would still recommend sealing before and after, but it's a great option imo.
@RetroGeekCrafts2 жыл бұрын
I have never used gesso! (It makes me think of Moriah Elizabeth 😁). You mean for covering the eyes, tict? Sometimes I use tempera paint but I go back to the tape because it's so easy to remove. But I have to give it a try. Thank you so much for the tip!

appreciate the warning for removin the heads ! it doesn't bother me personally, but when i see it happen without warning on other channels it's a little jarring LOL. i love yr videos, im glad i found them !
@RetroGeekCrafts2 жыл бұрын
No problem 😊😊 I was so used to it I didn't think it would be valuable but some people appreciated it, especially those that watch with kids. And that made me more sensitive to it (now I feel bad every time I have to cut the plastic or drop a pony!)
