I loved how you had set up and used your Quad Cortex! That's exactly how I would have done it (if I owned a QC 😁), with the different scenes and effects under one preset. Sounded fantastic, and you really got the crowd moving!

I have been using my HX Stomp in a lot of gigs and in the studio. It's pretty awesome. It has replaced 6 of my pedals and I can do a lot of things I couldn't with individual pedals.

Really insightful video, modellers into back line amps feel like the way forward for these sorts of gigs. I’ve been using both a modeller and a valve amp connected to a load box with IEMs only. The amp sounds better but the modeller is so much easier to travel with

I’m probably gonna be playing over in-ears for the next couple of gigs due to having a smaller bus during the next trips. Looking forward to checking out how the QC performs this way 😁

@@IvanBassist the QC probably sounds amazing, I’d love to try one. I really enjoy IEM only shows, especially ones where the whole band is on them. Getting a good bass tone is a bit more difficult but blending in a direct input from your pedal board really helps, using either a small mixer or some IEM receivers have 2 channels

Man, how are u, thnanks for the review, but the cuestion is, is it worth it the money? saludos desde Uruguay
@IvanBassist2 жыл бұрын

Hey man! I'm also a quad cortex owner and I just wanted to give you a little hint to use the whole capacity of your QC's CPU. Top two rows and bottom two rows use separate memories, if I remember correctly. So if you use half of your effects on the top two rows and the other half on your bottom row you might get some slight improvements. And then another tip, instead of using the loop block of the QC, you might want to give routing one of the outputs to 'send 1' for example to your amp. And using outputs 3&4 or the XLR outputs to the PA. So you can use the block space for something else. I do like the idea of putting a compressor and EQ at the very end of your digital chain! Have to try it myself next time I boot up the cortex. 😁
@IvanBassist2 жыл бұрын
Hey Nathan, thanks for the tip!s I’m aware of the DSP distribution, but I was at around 30% capacity there and don’t need any more blocks for this particular gig, so I just kept everything as simple as possible. This also helps when you have to adjust things on the fly and don’t have to worry about changing a lot of blocks😵💫

Ja!

Hola Mike! Si, claro. He tenido conciertos con Krapula donde solo he ido directo a la consola, sin ampli rn el escenario. Ahi he usado o monitores in-ear o monitores wedge en el piso. El QC es increible!

Hi! I saw the other video of about your pedalboard, and i have decided to just follow that set. Noble. Dark glass. Cali76 compressor. Samsamp. Octave.. I have already ordered the compressor and Noble. But. If i have quad cortex. I would be just needing noble? Should I cancel my compressor if im going to get This instead?
@IvanBassist Жыл бұрын
I prefer the Cali76 to the compressors of the QC. I just dont use mine due to space reasons on my board.

One question and apologies if I missed it in the vid. You are running the Send post-SVT block on the QC. Are you running the Send in to the FX Loop Return of your stage amp bypassing the amp's preamp? Or are you running the SVT block in to the preamp of the stage amp?
@IvanBassist2 жыл бұрын
Hey there! I’m running the svt block in front of the preamp on stage. This allows me to EQ for the room. However, i just made a new preset that doesn’t have any amp block in a row that goes into the amp. I’m gonna test it in the next gigs

@@IvanBassist I like that one. I used a laptop stand for my cortex to see and then I used the fcb1010 controller as the floor unit. Midi takes some time to setup? But it's so worthit!

Personally i think the Shift Line Olympic III sounded closer to a real valve amp...personall opinion, the Cortex is handy and a very neat single package solution but i really luvved the Shift Line Olympic lll with it's 2 cab tones and that pre-amp valve/tube actually sounded great intergrated with the tone controls...a more simple design than the Cortex..if you prefer the Cortex then that's the one for you ,i'll have to try one of these Quad Cortex things though i'm pulled towards the Shift Line Olympic lll...it would be boring if we all liked & used the same equipment ....luv the Dingwall
@IvanBassist2 жыл бұрын
The Shiftline is also pretty good, but we’re comparing apples to oranges in this case 😄 The QC can do much more than just amp emulations. I was completely sold on going 100% analog, specially since I also have a Noble and it sounds heavenly, but the QC has changed my mind in terms of digital equipment.
@christopherstorrier55602 жыл бұрын
@@IvanBassist ....i will test the Cortex as digital bass equipment has come on leaps and bounds in the last 5 yrs, you use a few effects so i understand why the Cortex would be more suitable,especially after fine tuning your sounds but i only used a compressor/limiter with a valve head for years live,it was a bit noisy and PA'S were a joke back 25+yrs ago but when playing live i luvved the overdriven valve tone & slight compression, it's all different now,silent stages etc,no backline sometimes just monitors so bass players need this stuff now...for an old warrior like me it's quite exciting as never built a board with pedals before...pretty simple, Boss LMB3 limiter/compressor, Bonafide Buffer into MXR Thump analogue pre-amp without cab sim & no XLR into a Shift Line A+ Cab Zone Bass/Amp with Y splitter with buffered XLR & amp return,if allowed to use one....& a Polytune3, into amp head if possible,if not stick on board....i will have to try some more new digital stuff but sadly because of global climate prices are not very good...especially Shift Line, though still selling to the West but a bit more expensive..👍

Is it good to do split crossover at lets say 250 Hz just with a compressor in the low end and amp/distortion for the frequency above 250Hz?

Depends entirely on the genre and what type of sound you are trying to achieve.

@IvanBassist2 жыл бұрын
You could also use different presets. This is useful if you have very different tones or complicated signal paths. That way you have a clean canvas for each preset. You could have a preset for each song or for different sections of a set. Just gotta be careful about balancing volumes across presets
@andrewdaileychufable2 жыл бұрын
I gotcha the only problem is switching from preset to preset there is always a sudden dip in sound. Which can be an issue if you have a sudden preset change in the song
@IvanBassist2 жыл бұрын
@@andrewdaileychufable in that case you can use either stomp or scene mode with A to H footswitches and swap presets with the other 2 ones on the right :)
