The J-Bass kills it. Awesome playing aswell!

Depends if you want the bass to be upfront in the mix or not. The Spector sounds more 'metal' but also takes more of a back seat in terms forwardness in the mix. Both sound great

Enjoyed the format. Very hands-on. Great content like always.

The Spector bass tone sounds so much cleaner with deeper lows and crisper highs, but the J bass had more mid-range and had more of a gritty tone. For the mix, either one works for me since of course you can adjust how it sits in the mix with the right eq, but I prefer the sound of the Spector overall in general. And that's coming from a Jazz bass guy. My Ken Smith Jazz bass has been my favorite bass since I purchased it back in 1999.

I'm a spector guy and own a real nice US built Forte 6, but the jazz bass really cuts in a metal mix.

cool vid! ive been testing some basses today in my local store with my QC ... and honestly one of my thought was that the J bass doesent sound amazing solo ... but pretty damn close to what any bass would sound like in my mixes post proccessed ... hmmm ... tough descisions ^^

Looks like a Spector NS2000-5 that had the brass nut swapped out. Was never a fan of the stock passive EMG-HZ pickups on those basses. I'm a huge Spector enthusiast but I prefer the jazz bass on this track.

I prefer the Spector. Good vid.

I think that your guitar tone needs to compliment your bass tone, so if you go with the mid heavy Jazz bass then you could scoop a little mids out of the guitars. Vice versa with the mid scooped tone of the Spector, add some mids to the guitars to compensate. That's usually how I go about things.

They both sound great imo but agree, the jazz bass is better in this riff. Btw thanks for the autoalign tip, Ive been aligning manually and it a big pita.

Spector sounds awesome, but I agree, the Jazz seems to fit your mix.

Jazz bass is usually superior to everything else.

Both sound great and different. It's prob a bad idea for bass stuff, as it might involve additional unnecessary editing, but would be cool to hear a blend of these 2. Otherwise, Isolated I prefer the Spector. Jbass in this particular mix fits better.
