Highly illegal. Minimum 24 hour notice for any access by a landlord or anyone acting on their behalf. Probably even more illegal with the current pandemic with everyone advised to stay at home.
@juliebrooke60993 жыл бұрын
@Clumby , I agree the landlord can have instant access in an emergency but I’m sure this wouldn’t count. It’s been an ongoing problem for a while. I’m sure the landlord just forgot to let them know that the pest control people had been booked, and just remembered at the last moment. At the very least they are owed an apology and probably some compensation for the inconvenience. I also think they should have been left some information from the company about what has been used etc.

It's illegal for a landlord/letting agent to enter or to organise for someone else to enter without giving tenants at least 24 hours notice. I lived in a house with 4 others during my final year of uni, and we constantly had less than 24 hours between the email saying "there's a house viewing at 12pm tomorrow" and it actually being the stated time. We complained loads, but it kept happening. Plus they never let us know when trades people were coming to repair various things, which included the blinds in my room which took around 2 months for someone to come and fix.

Go to Shelter as well as citizens advice, they're a charity which specialises of housing issues and can help you more. You definitely should have had 24 hours minimum notice before the landlord (or someone acting on behalf of) required access to the property, so you could have straight up refused to let the fumigator in (not that you wanted to if you were waiting for ages to get it done). Make sure you complain to the landlord, ask for an explanation of why it took so long to organise and for the lack of notice. Letting him in doesn't mean you've accepted the situation and can't complain to them and while I'm not sure on this, the lack of notice could mean that anything damaged or that needs replacing, you could get the landlord to pay for (cos you should have had time to prepare, move bedding etc).

Hey Evan! It's awesome you've got a pilot Metro, it's a great starter pen (one of my firsts!). Just wanted to describe how to fill it properly; first you need to put most/all of the nib into the ink, and then (with the Pilot bladder you have) you actually squeeze the metal part - one side moves - and it will completely compress the bladder. While I'm sure doing it on the sides worked, you will get a lot more ink in the bladder (and thus have to fill the pen less often) if you do it this way. I hope you enjoy the pen! Fountain pens can be a slippery slope of a hobby, but I'm not complaining ☺️

I have a light shade made of organza in my room: every summer flies have orgies around and particularly below it several times a day - nothing to do with the light being switched on! I have a fly spray in the most prominent place so I can grab it quickly and spray copious amount of pesticide. But first I have to remove any hopeful spider from the ceiling. I mean, I would love it if they made a net, but I seem to have only spiders that run or jump on their prey. I find all shorts ride up (except the ones that are made of same material as sweatshirts). The only solution is to get longer ones. Personally I prefer the type that stops just above the knee. They are also more comfortable when riding a bike.

You are entitled to 24 hours notice of a visit, viewing, or tradesperson coming round. When relocating to Scotland from Kent, we booked to view a house in Portlethen. But the sitting tenant was not informed of the viewing. It's a 12 hour drive from Kent, but the tenant refused to let us into the property. Obviously we were not happy, but she was perfectly within her rights, and the fault lay with the letting agent.

You can cash cheques on Monzo. Are you saying they only accept UK produced cheques??

Where I went to school, my year was the last year they taught cursive. I don't remember all the capital letters but I can still write in lowercase.

I am left handled and can see everything I write with both hands, which I can in fact use. Some people hold their pen from above for some reason, more common with lefties, but I don't know why, I don't do that.

American here. Taught Cursive right from the start in Kindergarten. I loathed it because my hand didn't move as fast as my brain and so my cursive was completely unreadable. Which lead to a lot of bad grades in school because if the answers are unreadable then they just mark it wrong and they thought I was "Special" but when evaluated they realized I was very smart, just had crap penmanship. So I was enrolled in a special class to help with handwriting. Which was a complete waste of everyone's time since in middle school they stopped cursive because computers were the future and penmanship was no longer really necessary. Which was great news for me because that meant that I could print, which was much faster for me to do AND it still be readable. Yeah I can scribble cursive far faster but no one can read it, so what's the point? People love to argue that a cursive signature is needed to get by in life and I just throw that back in their faces. I'm almost 40...I've graduated school, gone to college, applied for aid, got a job, opened a bank account, found a doctor, bought a car, a house, gave birth, dealt with layers, insurance claims adjusters, and never once have I ever signed any paperwork with a cursive signature and never once did anyone ever say. "I'm sorry, we can't accept this unless your name is in cursive" Not even once.

I know it as joined up writing, I think cursive might be something different/specific type of joined up writing. I know I picked up some ways of writing particular letters from my gran. She had beautiful handwriting. As for ink/pen license? Nope never had one, once we hit high school we were encouraged to use pens unless for maths. (Scotland)

We had a moth problem in a rental house. Are they in the carpets? If they are the only way they will go completely is if the carpets are removed. They eat the carpet and lay eggs in it (they like good quality carpet so new ones are better to be as synthetic as possible). Our problem was horrible, I never knew moths could be an issue!! Sorry if you already knew all of this! I hope you get the problem solved!
