Whoa ! 😮 Peachy your entire freight & coal cars was super long almost chasing itself. I did that for years on my Ho scale sets I had a 4 by 8 with extensions on all 4 sides. A footnote : I like the couplers on O gauge Lionel, K like & Mikes Train House as they are realistic the Kadee couplers really look weird not even compatible with the talgo type for O scale trucks, the manufacturers truck couplers are stronger they even look like a drawbar couplers similar to a commuter rail road or a subway trains I live in New York City. The trains are called Married paired units. I do have a joke about this & the 2 lead locomotives almost chasing its own train on the same layout. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Nice video & setup 🍑 Peachy 😃

I think you discovered the trick to success. The third large engine is down the consist to split up the load. Very good. Derailing might be an issue if all three engines were up front.

Very well done Peachy!! The speed of the train was perfect. Prototypical for sure, but being able see everything clear and concise while rolling along is a great thing to see rather than videos showing a locomotive and its consist moving faster than a speeding bullet! LOL Having the DPU in the center of the consist was also a treat to see. Makes it even more prototypical. Tastefully done Peachy!! Tom

Perfect Peachy! You've got the guys in the lead diesel unit waving at the guys in the caboose! It doesn't get any better than that! Hey, if you can get wacky with these things every once in a while what's the point in having 'em? My longest consist? Mind you I've only got a 4 x 8 so the longest I've managed with semi-scale cars is about 17. BUT I had the guys in the engine waving at the guys in the caboose!

: Nice layout and elegant. There's a lot of newbies out there that think that you have to go all out. You don't have to spend half of your life building a layout. Your set is simple, easy to build and write to the point. There's something similar to this and not spend a kazillion dollars building it. ALL ABOARD may the rails be with us. 🐢 🚂 🐢 😲 🐢 👀

Hi Peachy. Kind of a fun, unique feat, thank you for sharing. One time we set up a 100 car train to operate from end to end on our club's nine scale mile long, scale '0', Central Ontario Railway here in Toronto. I have forgotten what the power was but I'm going to suggest it was an All Nation F unit with a Max Gray SD-9. We had no mid train nor pusher power. Grades on the line were up to 2% and some as long and sustained as the length of the train with 50 inch minimum radius. If all of the cars were 40 footers, the train would have been almost 85 feet long or nearly 4/5ths of a scale mile. One thing that I recall as being quite interesting was that when the locomotives left the yard, the train had been bunched, and while pulling out the slack, they had moved 18 real inches before the van (Canadian for caboose) got underway. Each car weighed a minimum of 14 ounces as per NMRA recommendations and the train made the full run without incident. This was just to see if we could. It was repeated on an evening I wasn't there. Normal operation, with car cards influencing train size, could see through freights as long as 40 to 50 cars but a usual length would be 25 to 35 with locals going out with 24 or less. Passenger trains would have up to ten, 80 scale foot long, cars weighing about 2 pounds each. The north half of the railway was single track, the south half double with a nearly mile long single track branch. Those were some great operating sessions with 8 scheduled and timetabled passenger trains per session and about 6 to eight freights, some of them numbered but none timetabled. We used a fast clock and 24 hours on it were in reality 2 hours 10 minutes, thus making the railway appear to be about 9 times longer. That fully sceniced layout no longer exists, but a slightly smaller version with many of the original attributes is presently running in a new location. Seeing your mountain line reminded me that before I was a member, an early version of the layout had had a trolley line on it too with its own freight and passenger connections to the CORy.. Thanks for refreshing my memories Peachy. I always did enjoy running trains although I typically would be in the dispatcher's office directing the routes and signals. It's a great hobby isn't it?
@peachystrains877211 ай бұрын
That would be super cool to see, thanks for sharing! Glad I could spark some great memories for you!

@@peachystrains8772 Morning Peachy. If you're ever up here , a visit to the Model Railroad Club of Toronto would be well worth your time. I wouldn't be surprised if the members put a throttle in your hands and let you run the streamlined #1 or set you to work in the yard making up a freight. Google their website and check it out. Too there are two hobby shops just outside Toronto's borders that are 3 rail havens. Oh the Southern Mike is a beautiful model. Nice addition.

Question. Do you suffer from lack of space to accommodate your growing fleet of trains? I most certainly do! Everytime one of my buddies comes over to operate, he's always putting trains away back in their boxes and on the shelf when my back is turned and he along with my parents are always telling me no more buying trains. So everytime I buy new trains now, I have to sneak them into the house when nobody's looking. 😂
