I bought the album, my second after Deserter's Songs, and it's a good album! If you like Donahue and his vibe - i do.

A problem with Mercury Rev is that when they go full-on saccharine, they get so sugary sweet that it's tough to stomach. This song is one such example. The album is peppered with this, which is sad. "Across Yer Ocean" and "Black Forest (Lorelei)" are two stellar tracks in the entirety of the band's discography. The problem comes when Johnathan lets his inner 12-year-old girl come out and write songs for him. I want to love this band so much within this period of their existence, but when they give us duds, they're truly bad.
