Thanks - looks like a nicely balanced bike with the lowered seat and adjusted suspension. Thinking about a Rally Pro also, but was concerned about the seat height. I currently have a lowered T7, but the Rally Pro even with the seat at the lower level felt more stable and less top heavy than the T7. Thanks for the tips.

You did the right thing to lower it. All the playing teeter-tooter advise, thanks but no thanks. My bike is lowered 1&3/8" in back and 1" in front, I'm very happy with how it rides, and very happy with maneuvering. You don't really need both feet down flat, you need enough foot on the ground to be comfortable and not have so much weight of the bike on 1 leg when stopped.

Hi Fiona, thanks for the video. Very informative. This is probably a dumb question, but, your lowered Rally Pro’s seat height is roughly the same as the GT low model. Why not start with that bike instead of going through all the trouble of lowering it? I have a 2020 GT low. I’m 5’6” but with 30” inseam (almost same as yours). Do you find the lowered bike makes it hard on your knees for longer rides? (Since they have to bend more than on a taller bike)

Interesting video and mods by Touratech however many of these mods inevitably will compromise the bikes performance. eg off road bike with reduced suspension or side stand being raised meaning more susceptible to falling over etc. On top it would be interesting to know how much shorter people are going to have to pay extra on an already expensive bike for these mods. When are manufacturers going to start building proper adventure bikes with similar performance that fit the very many riders who aren't tall. eg 100hp / 185kgs / 810cm seat height etc adventure bike ?

The seat lowered your ride height 30 mm and the forks and shock lowered the bike another 20 mm, correct? Lowering the forks 20 mm and the shock 20 mm makes the front and rear of the bike equally lowered by 20 mm, so the whole bike was 20 mm lower, not a total of 40 mm, right? 20 mm bike lowering plus 30 mm seat gave you 50 mm lower ride height.

Also, since you were a new rider why did you decide on a bike that size to start with? Also, what other bikes did you consider like KTM etc? And why that bike? And the outfit that you are wearing what is the brand it looks very good. Thanks
@advtravelbug6100 Жыл бұрын
We are wearing the Touratech Compañero Suits, consisting of a super vented summer suit and an additional waterproof and windproof layer (though I'm just wearing the summer suit here). I know I chose a very big first bike and I certainly wouldn't have done this without the Touratech customisations that gave me extra confidence as a short rider. My partner Sandra was riding the Tiger 900 Rally Pro and ideally we wanted to ride similar bikes, rather than have me on a super light dirt bike and not being able to keep up on the road trip. I love the bike but I also have fun on smaller bikes! I also considered the GS as I had the chance to ride it for some off-road training and also got on great with it. We actually started our world trip on a GS. I don't like test riding bikes as they are rarely lowered enough for me to feel confident, so it was a matter of sticking with the Tiger which we had been riding two up for about a year already. Sandra noticed a massive difference in the suspension on her first ride. She couldn't go back to a stock suspension now. As for me, I have to admit that I've been spoiled a little as I never rode the stock suspension (bike was too high) so I can't tell you how it compares, but I can tell you that I'm very happy with it :)
