My handicap is 4.4 and I have never broken a par. When I play, there’s always one aspect of the game that I struggle with, but in my experience, my worst scores tend to be when I struggle with the putting. I can score decent with driver or irons not feeling quite right, but when I cannot make a put, I can forget about any birdies. When I struggle with the driver or irons, it’s usually the tempo issue, if I don’t warm up before the round. It usually translates to my irons being a full club shorter in carry distance and with the driver struggle to find the right launch angle causing significant drop in distances. Struggle with the putter is on another level, it could easily translate to 5+ dropped shots per round

Yea, I totally get your sentiment. You just drove it pretty darn well, had a lot of LW's on par 4's, nothing more than 5i into par 5's. No par 4's over 400, no par 5's over 500, short par 3's. Pretty easy for a pro if the penalties for missing are minimal, which they seem to be on this course. NOW, that's not to take away from the fact that you scored REALLY well and deserve a CONGRATULATIONS! But yea, I shot 69 yesterday at a course much easier than my home course (though the rating is .9 higher, WTF?) and it felt like total garbage off the tee. That's just golf for ya. Now go win some cash, brotha.

Another great post sir. I think you are being too hard on yourself! That was a couple of burned edges and one better bounce from being a 59! I had one of those days on the course about a week ago when you just can't get comfortable in your own skin and I took a lot of solace in the fact that I still posted a decent score,(for me... my game isn't half what yours is.) If a 61 is an uncomfortable round, your quest for 59 could be very near on the horizon and you'd be moving back tee boxes to continue the series.

Oh totally. Just for purposes of KZbin, vocalizing my thinking may sound “negative” but it’s just the catch 22 of having to speak it. I was pumped to shoot 61, but not happy with the process... and that’s what is under my control. Results just happen naturally, good or bad
@lokidecat4 жыл бұрын
I'd almost love to play a 18 hole course that is all par 4's... Par 3's kick my ass so bad. You have to be so pinpoint accurate or it can blow up your game. Getting a 5 on a 5 is "okay", but I get more 5's on 3s than anything. ugh..

All KZbin golfers constantly brag about distance and constantly score sub par on their channels, but for some reason can’t come close to scoring par in a competition? Something is suspicious about that.
@andrewjensengolf4 жыл бұрын
I think there’s a lot to be said about nerves/pressure vs comfort and routine. Filming twice a week has become second nature and therefore my game is very comfortable in that flow and routine. Playing a tournament every couple weeks/months is far from routine or comfortable anymore. When I played full time, I was prepared for everything that came my way. Now that I’m a full time “youtuber” and part time tournament player, it’s feast or famine when I compete. Then add into the mix that I’m choosing to document both, it can easily skew in a direction that is “suspicious” when looking at the results. How I hit it in this video wasn’t far from how I hit over the weekend in Knoxville... but this was my home course with zero pressure. Knoxville was tournament conditions with all the implications that come with that. I can’t speak for other KZbinrs, but as a former full time player trying to compete periodically, it’s very hard. So the fact that youtubers with no playing background try to compete, I can only imagine how hard it can be to then share those results.

Apples and oranges to compare a recreational round to a tournament round. I’m super comfortable out there filming and clearly no longer very comfortable in tournament golf. TBH, it doesn’t really matter... I played full time for almost 10 years and had plenty of low scores, and plenty of high ones. KZbin is my full time gig now and the tournament golf is a rarity for me, so it’s not shocking to see that it’s feast or famine with results in competition. I have nothing to gain, and lots to lose by messing around and being dishonest with these uploads. So ask yourself that, why would I possibly do that when it would only hurt me, my channel, and at this point my livelihood/income Beyond that, if you still don’t believe me... I do open invites to play with viewers, and I would love to see you out there one day 👊🏼
