My experience with LukieGames has honestly been incredible. I'm currently working on building my N64 collection while my brother's building his OG Xbox collection. We both got a lotta games from them and they were all in really good condition, and I'm surely gonna be ordering more from them in the future

I'm an overseas (Australia) customer as well, so I'm pretty picky about prices and I thought they were pretty fair, especially compared to certain other businesses in the same sphere. I recently bought an NES from then. New 72 pin connector. Came with OEM PSU and OEM RF adapter. Immaculate shape. It was reasonably priced. I also bought a PS3 Slim from them and the listing mentioned an OEM DS3 controller. I received a third party. They one-day shipped the OEM DS3. Fantastic customer service! I've spent nearly a grand on them over het past six months.

Lukie Games has always been great for me. I mostly just buy games from them, but in the span of four years or so I've only received one that was defective (dead save battery, no biggie). If I ever need to do a return, they process it no questions asked. Only "console" I ever bought from them was a Gameboy Advance SP and it was pristine. Never had any complaints.

The only nitpicking i would say is that they didn't clean up the leakage of the previous clock capacitor, which could cause corrosion over time, but that is it. LukieGames seem to be very good! I hope they have way more business than an other shop we all love to hate!

Love Lukie Games, actually just picked up a few nes carts from them for less than it would cost me to go to a local pawn shop and pick up the same games there (with the shipping charges even), they're clean and work great.

I've been purchasing from Lukie for over a decade now, they've been great. The only time I ever had an issue was when I ordered the first GI Joe nes game and received the second (which was still a good game and I didn't own it, I contacted them and told them what happened, they sent out the right game and I paid for and kept the other, so it was a win all around lol)

One of the major concerns for retro gaming as a whole is once consoles began using these kinds of boards and components, the chance of a CAP blowing/leaking dramatically increased. NO old or old new stock xbox should be operable at this point. ALL of them need to be refurbished to ensure integrity of the capacitors. ALL of them should be checked before being shipped to customers because they can become hazardous if not properly maintained. It is great Lukie took pride in their shipment here and it is a NICE xbox overall.

Lukie has been my go to for many years now and I have never had a bad thing to say about them. Any issues that have ever come up, they resolve immediately without hesitation. Now I do wish their prices would come down to pre pandemic prices but that's the market right now. It costs them more to acquire inventory so it makes sense. At least they weren't out there lobbying to inflate prices.

yeah i haven't bought from them in about maybe over 2 years the prices are expensive but i know the quality im getting from them is worth it but im from canada so its more expensive but i've mostly had zero issues with them only one was that my dreamcast bundle went missing so they sent out another one which i got weeks later but the original one apperantly crossed the border but got lost by sitting in an entire warehouse for a solid year EXACTLY one year later it showed up while i was a bit upset at canada post i was still happy so i bascially got 2 for the price of one

@@Viper-jr4sp That's what sets them apart. You don't have to worry. If there is any problem, whether it's their mistake or not, you won't suffer. I had a N64 game get stuck on the Sega game genie I ordered. It broke. They replaced it. Got a Wii U game (extremely fickle games) didn't work. Replaced it. PSP game lost in the mail. Replaced. Now this is over the span of a lot of orders and many years. I have nothing but good things to say about them. Now DK on the other hand. Oh boy could I tell some stories.

@@wiz3421 dkoldies prices are even worse imo than lukie games but the only thing i will say that i like about dkoldies website is they show their stuff in CAD where lukie games they don't so i won't really know how much it'll fully be till i buy it then get shipped out my dreamcast for example it was probably around 320 with 2 games with it when it shipped had to check my bank and it came out to over 400 because of exchange rate and import fees

At 17:50 I would say they didn't do a proper job on refurbishing. There is still residue from the original clock capacitor leakage that never got cleaned up. In the case that leakage had spread that bad, I'd have expected them to do preventative maintenance on power traces underneath the board to be jumped with wire, in case they start pitting in the future, otherwise there will be random powering up/down.

It would be interesting to see a bigger sample size from Lukie. This XBox looks good, but they sent Jacob R a PS3 that had clearly never been opened by anyone. It was much cleaner than what DKoldies sent him, but that seems due to the original owner or Lukie doing a decent job of blowing/vacuuming from the outside. The inside still could have used proper dusting, and the thermal paste was in desperate need of replacement.

Yeah I did see his video. I didn't think the dust was that bad until he got to that last layer within. Def needed thermal paste tho. The price was also insane. I would never pay that for that console. I know it's backwards compatible but still $500+ is absolutely ridiculous. You can get a ps5 for not much more these days.

Before I get into my comments regarding the video itself, I just want to say that I'd love to see you do more of these comparing other competitors. These are very interesting videos, and they provide very valuable information for gamers. Some others you could try are JJGames, playerschoicegames, and estarland just to name a few. Wow, night and day difference compared to DKOldies! The inside of the console looked pretty damn close to brand new. The outside could have maybe been a little bit better, but it's such a tiny nitpick. It still looked pretty dang good overall, and the inside is far more important. I was wondering about the thermal paste the whole video, but I think we can safely assume that they most likely did apply new thermal paste. Suddenly I'm a big fan and supporter of Lukie Games. They may not be perfect, but they're damn close to it, and good luck finding any business that *IS* perfect. The biggest criticism for me is only that they could perhaps be a little cheaper, but at least they do a great job and you get everything they say you do.

Hm, I wonder if I should contact Lukie games about my 2 OG xbox consoles and seeing about a possible trade-in I could get for them. My removed the clock capacitor on one and I replaced the disc drive on one of them which I'm still in possession of. Both the disc trays are stuck and have been cleaned up but I'm too paranoid to actually get anymore hands and refurbish them any further.

I guarantee they didn’t repaste it. You never checked so this is incomplete and honestly felt a bit biased. If this had been from DKoldies I feel like the dust inside would have been scrutinized and the burnt looking spot on the bottom left (maybe the more dusty spot you spoke of) of the board would have been addressed.

I don't feel it's biased at all. It's a major difference from what I got from DKO. I will go back in to check on if it was repasted. I wasn't confident in accessing that and dismantling properly but have been watching some videos to reacquaint myself with the process. If you watch my dko video when I receive my console from them I talked about the outside being a little rough but said that doesn't bother me. Also found some dust when dismantling and also said not a huge deal there. I think my unboxing was very much the same process and outlook until getting inside of the consoles.

I just think if we’re gonna compare apples to apples, should check everything including the repaste, which could be the most important part of being refurbished outside of the disc tray belt. Don’t get me wrong I enjoy your videos and agree DKoldies is a scam 100%. I just felt a little bit of bias here. And not even saying it was purposeful. Maybe I’m wrong, I’ve been wrong a lot. I just felt like maybe it was such a different experience (in that it was mostly clean) that the small stuff was no big deal, and it would have been a bigger deal with DKoldies because everything else was bad too so it’s easy to scrutinize. Either way good job on the videos and hope to see more soon.

I've bought 3 consoles from lukiegames total in years. Mainly because I received quality for price point. Only one time I had an issue with a game I purchased and left moderate review and bought the game again because I support what lukie does. Lukie reached out to me and saw I bought the game again and wanted to correct it with either refund or store credit. Unlike dkoldies I believe lukie has that true model of selling you a good working refurbished model with the price marked up so it takes the guess work out of it and worry from buying from the third market.

Wonder if they reinforced the power plug on this Xbox. This original Xbox is an earlier one as it has the Foxlink power supply which had a bad design. All the force with plugging and unplugging the power plug goes straight to the two solder joints which can crack, leading to arching and possible fires, there's no physical strain relief of any kind. That's why Microsoft had that power cord recall, they put a band-aid on a bad design. Later Xboxes reinforced the plug better. My original Xbox is basically a launch one, and when I plug it in, it makes the buzzing noise, meaning I need to resolder those joints for the power plug as it's now a fire hazard.

While the console looks fine overall, that clock cap doesn't seem to have been touched at all actually. Those just leak at the bottom, so it won't be immediately obvious in a lot of cases. What is obvious is that there is all the yellowed dust in that corner of the board as the cap HAS started to leak like all of them do and the acid with all that dust stuck to it is still there, untouched. Pretty well 80% of OG Xbox units I get look exactly like that and that crap must be cleaned asap no matter what as it can cause further corrosion in that part of the board. As a refurbisher who does a lot of OG Xbox units I give this one a 5/10. While they did an OK cleanup and replaced the DVD belt, they left an obvious cap leak on the board and didn't pluck out the clock cap, so that automatically loses them a lot of points. Still better than the 0/10 I'd give DKO lol.

my mom found lukie games when i started getting into the retro gaming hobby back in the mid 2010s and since then i've been very happy with them have gotten 2 dreamcasts tons of ps1 snes games from mega man x2 to RE3 etc only downside is that its a bit pricey especially since im from canada but the quality your getting speaks for itself and the rewards program is awesome managed to get pokemon sapphire with my points overall lukie games is much better than dkoldies

Apparently dk oldies' policy is that you CANNOT participate in any class action lawsuit and that the problems will be resolved individually, at least that's how I interpreted it. Also they said that the sticker is a "proof of purchase" but keep in mind the legal stuff or whatever was updated yesterday, im pretty sure they caught wind that those warranty stickers are illegal. They keep doing damage control Looking on the way back machine from February 12 2023 it was last updated on 4/27/21. Regarding the warranty it is said "This site and the materials and products on this site are provided "as is" and without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied" while they have a 1 year warranty banner over the top right of the site. The site still hold the Arbitration and Class Action Waiver.

I think Luki deserve a shoutout for how good this console looks on the inside. This is EXACTLY how a refurbished console should look, both in and out. I haven't even heard of them before this video but I bet they are cheaper than DKOldies as well. I just hope once they grow up more they wont end up like DKOldies and be blinded by the money.

I cant speak upon now Lukie Games refurbishes consoles since I've never purchased a console from them but I have orders probably 100+ PS2 games, amazing prices, great rewards program and fast shipping. Only ever had a few hiccups, there customer services is outstanding. Haven't order with them I nearly a year as I've slowed down my game collecting but I bought from them for years so I cant imagine anything has turned for the worst.

Much better condition than the DKOldies consoles we've seen in videos. One of the key things with regards to "refurbishing" a console like this is the thermal paste being reapplied, amongst one or two other things. Being clean on the inside is great but it's a bare minimum.

The whole dk oldies situation is pathetic because they are a very big name in the retro gaming community and probably atleast a million dollar company if not more and they can't even do what i consider to be the bare minimum and they have multiple employees. I run a retro game store out of my local Fleamarket and tear down and clean, repaste and replace any needed parts to insure that my customers come back to buy more stuff not get refunds and I'm only a one man show. I understand the time it takes to actually refurbish a console but to me it's worth the time because it has gained me many regular customers who know they are buying dependable consoles, controllers and accessories. I don't understand what the deal is with not including 1st party controllers. I have about 10 original Xbox controllers...some dukes some the slim model. The thing is they are easier to cleanup/fix than the consoles themselves. Brand new joystick rubbers (you can buy brand new xbox 360 joysitck rubbers/caps that pop right over the metal analog stick after you pull the old ones off) and cleaning the buttons/triggers with alcohol...super easy fixes. I imagine its supply and demand. They're harder to come by and therefore end up being used as a add on for an additional cost. Not saying I agree with doing that but we do see that pretty much everywhere now. The only positive though is that we save money getting the generic. If they included an original the price would likely just be higher to account for it. Either way we'd be digging deeper for an original controller no matter who we buy from.

Professional review from this guy LukieGames actually refurbishes the console. See how easy that is DKOldies? I mean they're still over priced on a lot of stuff in my opinion but it's good too know that Lukie takes proper care of the orders they ship out and I bet if they did make a mistake, they wouldn't try to defend the problem they'd actually address it. You know what? The stuff that's overpriced are the stuff that's highly valued in the first place like Nintendo stuff.

Yeah totally agree. Prices are steep but at least you get what is advertised. Dko prices aren't the real issue it's prices when considering the condition they advertise and don't deliver on. We can all save money going elsewhere for games but this may be the safer choice. I was looking for the Xbox Indiana Jones game. It was 10 and change on eBay loose. No details on condition. Lukie has it 10.97. They're definitely in the ballpark on your average games. The high value stuff is definitely going to run you more. I find myself into the lesser known games though as I've played all the popular stuff many times over. Ended up just getting this from the Xbox store online tho 9.99 and on the Xbox x it downloaded pretty much instantly.

another good way to know that someone was in the console is if the screws are still torqued and if you needed to "crack" the screw loose. console seems in good shape though. do they ship to Canada 🤣

but you’re actually getting a refurbished console, and some are cheap. i got an N64 for 100 bucks. granted it came with a replica controller, but i don’t mind. i actually got a good product, at a reasonable price. unlike DK which “advertises” refurbishing. which is against the law btw 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️ false advertising

It also must be noted that this is a 1.0 revision xbox with a Samsung dvd drive. This means the garbage Thomson drive was removed and replaced. Go see RTU’s video to see why the Thomson is garbage.

I’m not surprised. I’ve purchased from both eStarland & Lukie games in the past and the experience was never any less than professional. The games would be vacuumed sealed, dust free & in great working condition. DKOldies should be ashamed of themselves. DKOldies gets 2 thumbs down.👎👎

I'm not well versed in diving that far into it. It's been quite a while. I said that in the video. If I get daring I'll do a follow up video but look at everything else. It's clearly been well refurbished.

No plans as of right now. I went with original xbox because it's one of the more challenging consoles to refurbish and they still did a nice job. I would say a gamecube is likely to be pretty safe.

I’ve been using lukies for 2 years now. There way better Dkoldies IN EVERY WAY. Never once have I got something dirty or messed up from them and there prices are reasonable and actually refurbishes there consoles
