I love the hardware build of Lenovo laptops, and the OS and driver update utility is great (especially for novice users who I used to recommend Lenovo to). However, I will never use another one because these laptops have a history of coming with spyware preinstalled that transmits data to China.

Hey there, I'm in England and just came across your channel. You post regularly so, I have sub'd. Your content fits my interests to a tee. I have the 13" MacBook Pro i7 intel model. At he time (6 years ago) I wanted the small screen. I've noticed a real slowdown for Lightroom and PS lately. So, I bought the 16" MacBook Pro M3-Pro. If you want to look at replacing your M1, my advise is to look at the "Apple Certified" refurbished models. I picked up what is truly a brand new laptop (7 power cycles) for £600 off the Apple Brand New price. The laptop came without a blemish of any kind. I hope you check it out and put the $1000 towards a new MacBook Pro. Get your rendering down to 5 minutes. Thanks for the content Brother.

I ordered the new Surface Pro tablet with the stupidly expensive keyboard. I really needed a laptop that I could draw on. And I was really tired of having TWO devices to do it from Apple, the Macbook and an iPad. I really just want one device. Makes life a lot easier. Here's to hoping the new system works out better. I'm also happy to go back to windows (for my laptop), because my main PC is Windows. The MacBook never wanted to play well with my office rig. I don't think I would ever render video on my laptop though unless I had no choice. I got a 4090 for my office PC, and I think that'll keep things pretty quick. I've heard a lot of mixed opinions about Microsoft's ARM chip, but with all the other companies on board, hopefully it's not as big of a gamble. Time will tell. --- I've never done an extended warranty on any of my purchases, and I've never had issues. The one time I had hardware die was a EVGA graphics card, and they replaced it free of charge.

Microsoft builds a laptop around the Qualcomm Snapdragon CPU. MS implements the AI and OS. I'm thinking about waiting for the second gen. I'm "a bit" paranoid. Thanks for the info.

@@JMMGarza Waiting for a second gen is a smart idea. Unrelated to Microsoft, but I have my ears open on how Apple's Vision Pro turns out. I absolutely will NOT buy a first gen of the headset, but I'll be curious to see how it develops.

You could get a Mac Mini....once they upgrade to M4. Why do we all have Macbooks? I mean if you're really traveling so much you need the power on the road then it makes sense. But when we are mostly at home, is the cost justifiable to be able to move around the house easily?
@JMMGarza5 ай бұрын
I'm going to use my MacBook Pro as a desktop with a separate (working) monitor. I need a easy travel ready laptop that can edit 4k videos. Doesn't have to be the fastest. Just be able to implement DaVinci Resolve free version. Slow computers have issues with that software. Like my Dell XPS desktop. There, I use PowerDirector.

I travel in the old RV. I have several modest KZbin channels. RVTA is all about the RVing lifestyle. This channel is about photography, video and audio. I'd love to edit video on the road. That was the plan.

I've been reading a lot about many products being fashion accessories. Like certain cars and computers. Many folks buy Macs for the aesthetic. Do they need the power? My wife is on her 6th MacBook. That's even though the last two fell apart. This year, she plans to buy another. She ❤❤❤ (the professor) primarily uses Word and PowerPoint. I guess Macs look cool on the podium?

Seems like more professors use their phone or tablet for lectures. iPad air with the magic keyboard maybe an option. Look out for price drops and back to school promos.

Sounds like the flex cables connecting the screen to the macbook have failed. This is a known design defect on all newer macbook pros (all the ones with USB C ports). Unfortunately, you have to replace the screen because the flex cables are tightly integrated into the new screen design. The chipset is still good (arguably the best part of a M series macbook), if you are willing to use it like a desktop, you should be able to continue getting good use out of your investment by connecting it to an external monitor. Should you get a new screen replacement: frequent opening and closing of the lid (aka: leaning on the screen) will cause the flex cables to fail sooner. This problem never goes away completely despite the expensive repair bill.

At the Apple Store they took my laptop to the back. According to the service/sales dude. Everything looked great, except the monitor. They noted that my MacBook Pro was in mint condition, but two months out of warranty. Such is life.

There are only two reasons for my continued use of Windows: 1. I develop and sell software for Windows because the customer base primarily uses it; and 2. There are some business software applications that only run on Windows and some contracts require data be supplied in native format.
@martinspedding42105 ай бұрын
I would disagree, there is virtually no reason in 2024 to still be using Apple devices. If Snapdragon beats the M3 then Apple is dead in the laptop market
@gaiustacitus42425 ай бұрын
@@martinspedding4210 Benchmarks are already out that show the best Snapdragon CPUs are only faster than the low end configuration of Apple's M3 CPUs. The M3 MAX is still in first place, and the M4 lineup is due to ship over the next several months (starting with the iPad, which is already shipping). While CPU performance is a factor in choosing a computer, application software availability and a user's comfort level with Windows or MacOS are far more important when deciding which computer to purchase. Also, if you care about security of personally identifiable information, then Apple's products have a definite advantage. It is also possible to run Windows on an M-series Apple computer by using Parallels to setup a virtual machine. I've been running Windows in a VM on MacBook Pro laptops since 2012 (after switching over from Fusion) and have found Windows to operate with fewer issues than when running in native mode on PC hardware. This is because Apple controls all of the hardware and it is easier to produce stable drivers for a smaller range of devices.

@@martinspedding4210 Snapdragon is only faster than the entry level M3 on the MacBook Air or other low end models. The higher end M3 Pro and M3 MAX are faster than the fastest Snapdragon X Elite. Apple has already started rolling out its M4 line of processors, with the first device powered by an M4 being the latest iPad Pro. I am anxiously awaiting the release of the Mac Studio M4 Ultra. This computer will be a beast.

I bought a Mac Studio for $4,000 and it kept beach-balling on me just opening PDFs. Only explanation I could think of is that it was connected to 3 montiors, since I read that Macs have terrible multi-monitor support. I sold it on eBay for half the cost six months later and bought an Alienware desktop. No problems since. Macs are expensive half-baked computers. Apple has always been better at making hardware, not software.
