Kid Creole is still performing I believe?, different Coconuts however, that clip came out in 1983, the original Coconuts would be pushing 70 now, don't know about you but I'm not keen to see 70yo ladies with hairy armpits on stage 😳

There's LOTS of great music out there right now. But future generations of music fans will never get to witness people like Kid Creole ever again. There's simply no platform for this kind of dynamic performer today...maybe never again.

I think there is, but it takes promoters with the right attitude and skills. In the venue I have worked in the past three decades a major obstacle has emerged as the management companies. They have been to narrow minded about exposure and development, overly focused short term on nailing venues on price point and poor thought about audience development. Frequently the contracts allow the management company to override performer choices on venue and target audience.

Brings me great memories of my younger years at “The Beat Club” a Miami 80s Teen club on Bird Rd. 😅 When The Mask with Jim Carrie cabaret scene came out, it reminded me of this video lol- I think he did a few of Kid Creole moves. This Video is still Amazing and a true 80s Masterpiece 🎉

Yes, I was also 20 at the time but didn't know who the Kid and the Coconuts were at the time. The local bars were not hip to this in smalltown ,MN.

I think you don't get the point of the underarm hair. The whole point of the song is centred around the lack of body hygiene and presentation. That is why Kid is leaving the girl because she is not trying any more, so he is looking for a nice shaved and presentable babe. Look at Kid, he is immaculate. Oh, by the why, let's not get serious, it's only a bit of fun !!!!!!!
