Passing the time building a fiberglass subwoofer enclosure for my Chevy Volt - it'll be hidden behind the plastic trim panels where the upgraded sound system subwoofer would go. Heavily inspired by your videos that small drivers can make big sound! Using Boxsim 2.0 for enclosure modeling, I'm estimating about 20L and want it to be relatively flat from 50Hz down to 22ish Hz. Keep up the great quality videos!

I am building an entertainment center out of maple for the big screen wall mount TV . It comes in six sections, of which the outside lower two are supposed to be shelves, but instead of which I am building in my own designed speakers. The idea is to get everything off the floor, including stereo, Dish box, DVD, and speakers.

I can say that it works really well, I provide online training for work, and the mic along with with arm does a wonderful job of clearing my voice while also removing all of the keyboard & mouse noises. They also come in a darker-pink colour (if you feel like something just a little different).

I'm passing the time in isolation by learning how to make KZbin lab demos and lectures for my students - I pity them, but the have to watch my baby attempts to pass their classes - hoping that as I record and edit more that they won't be so painful. It's been an absolute eye opener for me as an instructor - 2hrs of lecture can be edited down to only 30min if I'm careful.

Like so many other people, I get to work from home during these trying times! Yay! But seriously, I need a setup so I can create some video tutorials and communicate with people in a slightly more personal but professional manner. Now, just because I'm working from home doesn't mean that my telecommunications method have changed BUT my travel is being restricted greatly. Naturally, I assumed that video conferencing would help fix the travel issue! Right? So anyway, I jumped on KZbin right now to look for a video capture adapter as I want to use one of my Canon cameras for the video part of this mission. For whatever reason, KZbin said I might like this video. So here I am, watching and have to admit, the audio sounds great. Now, I had a Neewer MIC in my Amazon cart that's just $30 before I found this video! It's not a USB MIC, but it's OK, I have the phantom do-hicky from Focusrite, you know, the Scarlet Solo 3rd gen interface one? Obviously, this method will cost more than a USB MIC, but figured I'd try it and compare just for my own S&Gs. Yes, I'm buying both MICs! This FiFine MIC will make life easier in the end and over all, take up less space with no interface to deal with and obviously less cables. Wish me luck! Oh and about the video capture card, it seems that too many people have the same agenda I do that the basic USB-C to HMDI grabber deals are sold out! I mean, Best Buy, Amazon, Newegg and even Google Shop...it's like I'm looking for toilet paper! If you find anything it's a more elaborate model that has way too many bells and horns for my needs. Although I ran across an IOGear UV322 but it's just my luck that the model is not yet available! 2 HDMI inouts, 1 HDMI output, XLR MIC input (not sure if it provides phantom power, but can you imagine if it does!) and a few other geeky features. Lemme crack my knuckles and see what else I can find. If you have a suggestion, I'd appreciate it greatly! Stay Safe folks and remember #socialdistance and make sure you put on your pop filter when you step outside!

about 2 months ago i bought BM-800, sounds fine since i'm using it only to play games with my friends, but i'm probably gonna get a good mic for recording my speakers, i have a Behringer ECM8000 to build my speaker, right now i'm still working on my 2nd DIY speaker using Sb-Acoustics driver, 2 way using SB19STC000-4 and SB15NRXC30-8, calculate the box, and i get f3 of 38hz, not bad for 5" midbass, but i dont think that having a f3 of 38hz is good for such a small 5" midbass, but that's all i have so i'll go for it
@SianaGearz
@SianaGearz 4 жыл бұрын
Look for FFcossag video low noise hacking the BM800. I have a BM700 myself which i have modified in a vaguely similar manner. I thought to re-engineer that bit with a TL431 but decided not to care that much. Far as 16mm electret capsule goes, that's just how it sounds and that's fine. "recording your speakers", what, why? You already have a measurement microphone. Who would want a recording of a speaker, that's weird. What kind of construction is the speaker? If it's sealed, then F3 of 38 is absolutely excellent, if it's vented and you have a steeper rolloff then it's still more than adequate. What do you even mean though first you say "not bad for 5" midbass" and i should agree, and you say " not good for such a small 5" midbass" which is a contradiction. Like if you're worried about excursion, yeah you probably shouldn't push it too loud, or if you have to, you could compromise on the low end response by tuning. I mean are you sure it's 38Hz though and what is the volume because... i mean... not to step on your toes or anything, but bloody how. Thinking closer to 50Hz.
@clee2423
@clee2423 4 жыл бұрын
@@SianaGearz i already seen the video about BM-800 hacking, and since i'm using the audio interface with 48v phantom power, he said that you cant use that hack together with 48v phantom, and yes i like to record my speaker to share with the DIY community LOL, f3 at 38hz vented box, yep i worried that f3 for 5" mid bass such a heavy task and afraid the speaker sounds weird to go that low, and i hasnt measure the speaker yet, i'm waiting for my final box to arrived, and f3 of 38hz just the predicted tho, i'm not sure if its gonna hit 38hz, but right now i have a prototype box that has the same volume as the final box, with the same port length, i measure the impedance and got the Fb is about 39hz. the box volume is around 13,8 L compensating for bracing and crossover,etc so closer to 13.5L
@SianaGearz
@SianaGearz 4 жыл бұрын
@@clee2423 You must have misunderstood ffcossag. The mod absolutely works with 48V phantom. The mod will fail with lower phantom voltages, especially it will not work with 5V bias direct from PC soundcard (which works with these microphones as-is, thus the compromised design to enable that), and it will show weirdness with some cheaper mixers which have balanced phantom but it's only 12V. With true 48V phantom, it's perfectly fine. In fact i'm using an old TASCAM audio interface with 48V and it's working great, and also a 48V phantom supply was used in ffcossag's test if memory serves. Anyway the crux of the mod is that it basically eats up a little bit of supply voltage but enables better lower-noise regulation of the bias voltage to the JFET, and you're aiming for about 9-10V give or take across the JFET, so with added resistance, 5V completely fails to power the JFET, 12V goes wonky, but anything upwards of 20-30V should work just fine. As to the speaker, looks like i was looking at the wrong datasheet. I can see now how you're getting 38Hz thereabouts, within margin of error and tuning differences. Usually i get to assume that 4 and 8 Ohm versions are electrically different but mechanically identical to each other - with this speaker, this doesn't appear to be the case if the datasheet are to be believed. The 8 Ohm version appears to have less moving mass and higher compliance. My apologies. Still, as you notice, the value looks a bit surprising. Wrong TS in datasheet are not particularly out of the ordinary. According to AJ chassis test database, there is an independent test of the driver in Hobby HIFI magazine 3/2009 (and 4 Ohm version in 5/2010), and i looked, but unfortunately i don't seem to have either of the issues on my shelf. :( And i don't think i have been aware of the driver before. I think at the time when this driver was first released, i wanted to build with Mivoc WPP150, but due to a number of circumstances, missed the opportunity.
@clee2423
@clee2423 4 жыл бұрын
@@SianaGearz yep, unfortunately i got the out-of-specs one, but i remeasure the drivers after break-in for 24hz, and get Fs of 45hz, Qts of 0,56(if i'm not mistaken), so usually you can get f3 of 38hz using around 10-11ltrs, i need 13,8ltrs to get the same result, i'm measuring it using DATS v2, so yeah, bad luck, because i ask my friend that had been to the factory, and he told me that the driver always on specs with the factory one, but oddly my drivers are very out of specs

I have a vintage Shure 55. Have you ever tried one? Also, I bought a super cheap Chinese mike with all the accessories for $20. Bucks. What is the mounting diameter of the T669? How am I passing time during social separation? Well, because of my disability I can’t hold a job so I wasn’t doing much before. At the beginning of all this I was busy trying to find toilet paper and Kleenex. The only things that’s really changed is the my boys are taking college courses at home, so I’ve been trying to help my youngest who’s Autistic. He can’t get any help from tutors and the teachers aren’t answering calls, emails or text messages whenever he has questions. So I’m having to teach him again! I did that while he was in High School and he wasn’t being taught shit, now I’m his college professor too. But that’s ok because for a t8me that was my day job.

My life has changed little. I go to work during the week and come home afterwards and recover from the day. Occasionally I do a little work on a project but I rarely get very far. What has changed is going to the grocery store. Waiting in line (with appropriate separation) to get my turn to go in. Pick my few items, and then wait in the line to get my turn to pay for me items. I had hoped that would be shut down so I can work on projects at home but that does not look like it is likely to happen for me. I had done a few tests with my SLR to see what kind of video I can get out of it. It seems acceptable, but I have no ability to capture audio with it. The camera I am using is old and it did not have video capability, and therefore no audio either. The camera is running Magic Lantern, a software hack that adds the video functionality to the camera. But since the is no hardware in the camera for sound input video is all that I get. So I need to externally capture audio and then sync it with the video. If only I had a decent USB microphone to use. ;)

Time is simply passing by as usual..even in times like these i can't stay at home because of the importance of my job. Though i must say, it's really been eye-opening to see what jobs for other people have only been made to ...let's put it this way, spend more of everything on anything... so their company can charge more for the things they have people working on. Within the province i live in (in the Netherlands), it's a real burden on the economy... restaurants / bars / etc. are going bankrupt by the dozen at the moment. Usually there's an exponential growth of tourists towards the spring and summer season, but now the whole place is ''off limits'' to foreigners. It's totally understandable they want to keep hazards away as much as possible, but to me this seems kind of a rushed decision -or at least a decision where not all aspects have been given equal amounts of thought- The social distancing that's being applied here (not totally isolated yet) makes everything feel like a chore, and people can't seem to handle this well. This might be a way of downscaling the society somewhat like going back in time 10 to 20 years (especially making jobs more labor intensive instead of robotic for instance) For the time i've got spare at the moment, i'm learning some proper woodworking and i'm doing a car-install to my kia picanto

For the first bit, I was kind of a slug. Then something clicked and I realized what a great opportunity this is to start all those good habits I kept putting in the "Someday Maybe" box. I have a sourdough starter going, I'm meditating daily, and exercising in the front yard every other day.

Being of high risk in this outbreak, I have to stay home and just ponder life as it goes by. Looking at youtube, watching things I enjoy and hopefully learning some great information out there. Regrets of not pursuing things when I was younger and trying to reconnect with past passions such as Audio and Car Hi-Fi. I would love to do a youtube channel but unsure of what is interesting for others, but I guess if I learnt it properly, it would help.

What a great video! I’m an essential employee, so, business as usual! Been at home more outside of work watching KZbin videos like yours and absorbing all the good knowledge that content creators like yourself have to offer. #likeafreeeducation thanks for everything! -Ian

I do love your videos I think iv been subscribed from the beginning :-) any way I'm passing the time well I'd call it more using my time to make KZbin videos on engine building for fiat 500 and 126 so other people can learn a skill that's fast dying out I call it more education. I love learning from KZbin and ylur videos certainly do that. Keep it up.

I'm passing the time by having already made 38 test voice samples with the very same kit you reviewed here, The FiFine T669 that I won a few weeks ago! This, in anticipation of FiFine's brand-spanking-new K678 that I ordered a couple days ago, of which I will make personal comparisons!

Lots of car sim-racing. I've been looking for a microphone and arm to reach over my steering wheel while wearing a VR Headset & headphones so this video is timely. It looks like you can get this kit straight from FIFINE on AliExpress too, in case the Amazon sellers won't post to your country currently (They wont post to NZ seemingly).

I turned my barn into a woodworking shop. So far I've made a desk, a keyboard base, a monitor stand, and a 2.1 speaker setup using Dayton 3" full range drivers and a 6.5" ported sub that hits down to 32hz. All of this with only recycled wood.

Currently cleaning up my garage, fixing motorcycles, cars and mopeds. I feel guilty when I've got nothing to do and I don't have much to do right now so it is quite painful. Also just finished school which leaves me with more time to think about how i'm going to use my time. Quite a paradoxical positive feedback loop that one. Also been following along your videos trying to understand TS parameters, so that's been a noggin-scratcher. I like your videos, they really force me to think. Thank you.

Even through laptop speakers the quality difference is very noticeable. This $50 mic sounds like garbage compared with your usual equipment.

He Hexi, nice review. Parts Express did a review recently of a microphone that came in a kit for about the same price. It's nice to see some affordable options for people who need decent quality mics. For me, I'm doing a lot of 3D printing to pass the time. First I printed a bunch of masks and face shields. Sent those out last week. I'm also printing the parts for an MPCNC. Getting the hang of 3D printing so I thought I'd try my hand at CNC.

Actually I've been watching a lot of movies, playing GTA SA and playing around with Davinci resolve 16.2 which is a great and very powerful piece of free editing video software, other than that not a lot, I still have to get myself together and do some exercise.

First off I would like to say that I love your videos. I've learned more from your videos on speakers and sound in general than all other "tutorials" from other KZbinr's combined. I've been spending my time in this at home doing my online college work, working on my car audio project and binge watching TV shows.

Passing time by figuring out how to make a budget home studio. Always wanted to tinker with music, now I have some time. Really dig your content, btw. The 3-D printer stuff is awesome. A lot of the technical stuff is way over my head, but I enjoy it anyway.

Honestly I've been spending my time getting familiar with custom box design software...such as bass box pro...I see there is little to no vids ( in English) that I can learn from here on KZbin...and those that are out there only shows so much...I would like to gain some knowledge on 6th order bandpass enclosures

I am still working at this time as automotive dealerships pats and service have been considered an essential service, although with not too many bookings we've cut back our hours. This has given me more time to work on my project vehicle; a 1967 VW Bus. I am at this time working on the interior door panels, which house a 9 channel audio system. I am also working on the Bamboo amp rack that is housing two Nakamichi amps (american Zed Audio collaboration ). This has been a 9 year build and I was planning on completing it this year until the shut downs began...one more year I guess. I enjoy all of you content and appreciate both your wisdom and sense of humour. Keep it coming.

I've been passing the time by essentially sneaking out into the bush by myself to go fishing, no human contact whatsoever, and it's walking distance from my house. Other than those couple hours, it's been playing video games and fiddling with old audio equipment to see if I could coax some extra life out of some components, was able to resurrect one car audio amp, hopeful to be able to save the few other old ones I had put away for various reasons. Oh and LOTS of cleaning and reorganizing, it's been a while since we've all been home, so we're all taking the time to fix up around the house, I've even restarted my garden, but it is dry season here so it is some work to prepare the area, but I'm getting there.

Right now I'm at work supervising 6KV motor and circuit breakers in a paper recycling factory. In the meanwhile a make repairs to my house and can't wait to finally finish it and after that the listening room. I enjoy meeting with my friends on zoom on my crappy built-in laptop mic. I also play around with electronics and experimenting speaker enclosures.

Very informative and to the point video, it's always appreciated. I've been spending this quarantine catching up on a backlog of shows and gaming with some buddies of mine, but their always getting on me about my mic picking up everything in my room. Odds are I'll end up just buying one of these after saving up a bit anyway, but it'd be pretty cool to win one.
