I used to go to Milwaukee once a year for the old Gencon D&D convention, this was many years ago, maybe late 1980s, early 19990s. Gencon was held in the MECCA Convention Center. I have such good memories of those times, the great little chinese restaurant across the street from Mecca, and the beer festival in Old Milwaukee. Taking the tour of the Pabst Mansion, The food garden at the Plsnkington Arcade. The military memorial on the shore of Lake Michigan. The little tiny medieval chapel on the Marquette Campus. But best of all were the people, warm, down to earth people. One year I got up early on Sunday and went to the very early church service at St James Episcopal. Every one there stopped and talked to me, telling me about their trips to Boston and even the Priest had gone to Seminary at EDS in Boston. Oh, I almost forgot, the wonderfully named Blatz Beer! Great little city you have there.

Thanks for the trip down memory lane Brian. I grew up in Bay View, well actually Town of Lake near the airport. I attended the A.E. Burdick grade school and then the Bay View high school, I graduated in 1967. I know this area like the back of my hand. I was drafted into the army on 1-3- 1969 and after serving in Vietnam until 8-1970 I returned home to Milwaukee. In 1976 I moved away from Milwaukee but I return often to visit my sister. The old neighborhoods have changed somewhat. In this video you showed one of the "Polish Flats" I lived in for a few years before leaving the area. Nice video.

Remember going past Norberg when it was in business. Can remember when I went to Fritschie junior high school before going to Bay View HS. The Chrysler plant on Clement avenue used to be home to AMC parts division.

Very nice. Thanks for posting. When I think of Milwaukee I think of the sitcom “Happy Days”. Lol. I use to watch it every single night as a kid with my parents. Loved that show. 👍Ahhhhh👍

i enjoyed your video and when you took me on a tour of Bayview and Milwaukee a couple years ago. It's very beautiful there. So many of the old buildings around here are long gone. We only have pictures of what it used to look like

Norberg used to have a tunnel that ran under Oklahoma Av. from their parking lot, Now a grocery store. The Avalon has ALWAYS had the twinkle star ceiling. Could tell ya a lot more about the area.

Nice video. I have never been to Milwaukee so I found it interesting. It seems to be a city with a lot of parks and green space. Do you have many disc golf courses in your parks?

I found this video quite interesting. Beautiful area where you live. I like the historical significance of the architecture. Your neighborhood has substance and charm. I would be honored to call this place my home. Unfortunately for me, I cannot handle snow & freezing temperatures anymore. I do not get to enjoy the serenity of a place like your home. Without going into details, I've had terrible hardship with the cold. No fun and no patience. Someday, I will visit your area with my family, in the summer. Simply for the beauty of it all. Thank you for this video!

Yes, liked the video, found in interesting, Brian, keep it going! i spotted the info of starting another channel. not sure that is necessary. Admin 2 channels and starting one from scratch is very difficult. If you look at some of the top echelons of youtubers even they struggle to have 2 successful channels. DJ folks can say with you they don't have to watch what they don't find interesting. But you have a lot of friends, and fans that will watch because its you! If success was quick and large perhaps then a second channel but I'm not a fan, as the second channel oftens ends up the poor cousin. As for content I really liked it, well edited and narrated. Its something i would like to do but time is hard to free up now. perhaps in 2 years when we change our life style. But keep it going Brian lots of stories to tell and you do a great job of telling them!

Thank you. I don't think I want to become Mr Milwaukee or anything. Just thought it would be something different & fun to do once in a while. Nobody else seems to be doing anything much. When I KZbin my area, I just see old news broadcasts about something bad that happened several years ago, and I think the neighborhood deserves better than that. Maybe once I have a handful, I'll create a playlist. We'll see how this one goes

Great video Brian, I used to live in Milwaukee during the mid 80s. Went to Pulaski High on 27th and Oklahoma. Haven't been back in years would like to see if the neighborhood has changed any.
@briansredd6 жыл бұрын
It's changed, especially 27th street. St Lukes is a lot bigger. Southgate is gone. There's a big super walmart there that the locals call "ghetto wal mart" and it's not because the neighborhood is bad, it's just because it's the closest walmart to the hood & they bag check on exit :P It's actually pretty nice up in that area. Leons is still there, of course

Interesting take on Bay View. I’ve liver here my entire life. Went to Clement Ave grade school, Fritsche middle school and Bay View high. Things are not like they used to be around here is an understatement. Sure, plenty of new bars and restaurants, but along with that has come significant crime rates. Neighbor was robbed at gunpoint inside his home, garages constantly being broke into and severe drug issues including heroin, crack cocaine and fentanyl overdoses daily! Part of this is due to the Democratic run government here, defunding the police and letting these criminals out the same day or next. Be careful folks it’s not as nice and comfortable as it used to be. Never had the need to get a concealed carry license until 1 1/2 ago. Protect yourself and watch your back when filling gas, unloading groceries and walking alone.
