Hey man, just wanted to drop a note - nice job! First of all, you're much easier to watch than some others so Just Do It! Secondly, your gear choice is actually much more dynamic and realistic than many, many others. I'm actually getting tired of watching the same ol' brands (ahem Unbound Merino) and EDC/Minimalist packers so this was refreshing to say the least. Anyway, subscribed and will support you moving forward - keep pumping out videos!

This is great, I’m female and would switch out the deo for Mitchum rollon that takes us from shower. To shower I use it around bust and groin in hot areas, as well as underarms non sticky, and non sweat/ stink, and unisex, au velvet soap, for body, and laundry does everything, with bar shampoo/ conditioner, sunscreen , minerals foundation powder and brush, comb. ✅ done for the females watching, jeans and shirt with tshirt underneath and puffer jacket are dependable, I personally love RMWilliams pullon boots , they are so comfy, I like the look of those sandles they are unisex, I’d add a pair platform black sneakers( thick soles) for switch outs, if heading out. A nice light dressy top and wrap skirt, in case going out, but could also wear as sarong if going to beach, some areas frown upon not dressing for dinner, etc ✅ done thanks you for the ideas, good for shore leave where you need plain clothes, but don’t want to pack suitcases etc, esp for those who wear uniforms. I’d say your pack is unisex well done! Looking forward to more videos from you, I’m so frustrated with those females who pack so much unusable extra stuff then call it minimalist, as I also have cpap machine that takes space and weight, so that’s any spare space or second bag for overhead locker if flying,

Consider using a faraday bag for your camera, computer and electronics. Small boo-boo kit, antibiotic ointment, bandaids, chapstick, needle for possible splinters, small magnifying glass for splinters and electronic device inspection. Extra shoe laces. Great idea for the belt! A belt bag would add to that versatility. Good video 👍
@thepackablelifeАй бұрын
Looking into faraday bags as we speak. Do you recommend them for their EMF shielding characteristics? Or because they're solid bags? Or both? And, yes, a small first-aid kit would add virtually no weight to the bag, but would add utility to my setup. Thanks for recommending that! I might just add one to my next packing list. Thanks for stopping by!

Excellent video - I have looked at many ultra lite / minimalist travel videos and really enjoyed yours - both style and content. Two items that I have found useful are the inclusion of a small nylon bag that packs to nothing 1" x 1"x 1"but is useful if out and about and need a shopping bag to put a couple of temporary items, in particularly food on the go that you would rather not have in your main bag. Also I travel with a 'memo bottle' as I prefer the form factor over a round water bottle - worth every penny - and helps keep overall pack size small for our inter european personal bag only flights.

I'd probably pack a warmer down jacket, a thermal top and leggings, gloves, and an insulated hat. I'd probably wear the jacket and thermals onto the plane, so they don''t take up space in my bag. If I need the extra space, I'd use a 30-liter bag instead of a 25-liter bag.

my airline only allows 15 lbs - what would you take out if you had to meet those weight guidelines?
@thepackablelifeАй бұрын
Great question! What country are you traveling from and what airline are you flying with? Does your airline actually weigh personal item bags before letting you board? The reason I ask is that I've never had an airline weigh my personal item bag before letting me board, and I've only been asked to measure my bag on a few occasions. That said, if I had to leave a few items behind to trim down to 15 pounds, I'd leave my boots behind and wear my shoes that I normally stash in the bag. I'd also leave my camera and all of its accessories behind, as well as my second pair of pants. I think that would put me down to about 15 pounds!

@@thepackablelife Well, let me qualify my observation. It looks like you do a lot of traveling professionally, so I get it; if you're a "professional traveler" you need professional everything: gear, clothing, etc. As a working musician, I play a high end, top of the line brass instrument. If I were just a beginner or "intermediate" player spending money on a high end instrument wouldn't be worth it. But, my guess is that most of the people watching this vid or not going to be "professional travelers". So yes, a budget gear vid would be helpful; thanks for considering it. That said, I'm impressed with the gear you describe in this video.

@@MrRezillo Thanks for the great feedback, I really appreciate it. Recommending high end gear that isn't super approachable to much of my audience has always been a concern of mine, but I also don't want to be disingenuous and recommend products that I have little to no experience with just because they're more affordable. I've been brainstorming ways to approach my next video, so I appreciate your feedback; it'll help guide the process. Cheers!

@@thepackablelife Part of my post got deleted some how. I just wanted to mention: I'm a semi-professional musician. I play a professional level instrument (trumpet) that costs a lot more than a beginner or intermediate model, because I "outgrew" those models. So, I understand that if you're a professional who travels a lot, you need to have the best gear, not just your equipment but everything you pack. People who don't travel much won't need that level of gear. And yes, I appreciate your integrity in not recommending cheaper items you haven't used personally. Okay, I've belabored the point enough! Looking forward to watching your other videos.

Cool stuff. But minimalist? Nope.

For what I do (full-time blogger with a professional camera setup), I'd say this packing list is fairly minimalist. If I weren't a blogger/KZbinr, I'd probably leave the camera gear at home and would consider taking an iPad instead of a laptop. I've also gone back and forth between only wearing one pair of shoes instead of the boots/shoes combo, so if I can ever find a pair of do-it-all shoes that I love, I could significantly lighten up my back by wearing the shoes and leaving the boots behind.

@@thepackablelife Thanks for responding. I'm sure you have better to do, I appreciate. Now, why did I say it's not minimalist? You carry things that you don't need if you are to go minimalist. For example, you don't need a laptop case, especially when you have a proper travel bag. With a laptop like a Macbook, you don't need a stand, nor a separate keyboard, let alone a mouse in addition to the built-in trackback (even for work. I'm on my computer 12 hour a day, and can't travel without it, I write papers, prepare lectures and conferences, and I've never need a separate keyboard and mouse. At the office or home, I like using those stuff for comfort, but not on the road, especially for a minimalist experience). You don't need a razor+clippers (a more minimalist option is to bring a device like Philipps' One Blade to shave and groom your hair and hairs). Also too many pouches/bags in your toiletries bag .. it seems you really like Zpack's little stuff ;) Why a JBL speaker? Why a leather case for your passport that is heavy (heavier than other options) and really carries nothing but your passport. Once again, some cool stuff in your video, but it's not a minimalist packing list. Now I'm looking forward to your next minimalist list ;)
