I love that you are more concerned about people's experience at a location than "getting the shot" with a drone. It's helpful to get you two's opinion on travel stuff!

The new Cotopaxi bags have a water bottle holder!
@againstthegraingolf3012 ай бұрын
They do! I bought an Allpa28 from the Wilderness exchange in Denver back in June when I first started looking at bags, it was about 40% off and had a “sample” tag on it, but it had a water bottle pocket. Hubby looked high and low for his perfect bag, he jumped on a newer bag for full price because he loved it…No water bottle pocket. Fast forward 2 months, they released MY BAG that I’d bought for half price months prior, with a bottle pocket.. he was a little heart broken lol

For anyone interested, check out the Patagonia Mini MLC 30. It has all the great things about the Cotopaxi Allpa but is even better designed, and not a pain to zip when it's stuffed full! (And has a water bottle holder :) )

We take a Grayl everywhere. Filter the tap water and cool it down in the fridge. Then put it in the thermos. We filtered tap water in Bali for a month with this thing and we didn't die. If that doesn't prove it works i dont know what does 💪🏼

So agree about the drone. Great, beautiful shots, but I always think "I'll never see that view". And totally get you not wanting to hassle with everything else to do with it.

For water… you should get one of those collapsible water bottles, that look similar to your toiletry tubes. Takes up no space or weight, when empty and some have loops that can be used to attach to a carabiner. I have the Wildreed Soft Flask that’s great! (I use one for hydration and another for a travel bidet - with the Luoov “Finger” Bidet attachment.)

Yes, Cotopaxi should definitely sponsor you! I just bought an Allpa, SOLELY based on seeing you guys pack it up in videos. (Though I did get the 38L on wheels, because my knees are now "vintage." ;-) And yes, drones are the murder hornets of content.creators!

Hey Lila and Josh! Loved the video. It was so helpful! :) My wife, I and our little one is doing full time travel next year and I need a bit of advise. Is the 24-105mm wide enough for most shots? I currently have a 16-35mm and a 70-200mm but I definitely want to get rid of the 70-200mm because of the weight and would have loved something more with a reach. Thinking get rid of the 16-35mm and get the 24-105mm. What do you think?

I found that that the prices were cheaper, faster, and higher data limit with sim over eSIM. It convenient to have eSIM in that you can activate even before leaving your country and life saver when you are using at the airport to get traffic. Just remember to activate the ride apps and food apps before leaving your country because lots of overseas eSIM might have issue when they send a text to verify the account.

See for me, a non negotiable is the massage gun. I have EDS and my joints are wrecked after walking long distances. We brought ours to Japan with us and it kept me sane. Mine is a small one from Costco and it only has one massage head but it’s perfect for what we need.

I love my Cotopaxi too! You can clip a water bottle to one of the Carabiner lash loops. I have a Vapur collapsible water bottle that works fine like that. I also love the tuck-away straps and 4 reinforced grab handles on each side. The newest 28L actually HAS the water bottle holder, but you lose one of the grab handles and the straps don't tuck away, so I will stick with my older model.

If you are a scuba diver and traveling, then you need the wet bags for wet gear you are traveling home with, such as your wet suit. I also have small ones for other trips where I might have something wet that I need to travel with and don’t want it making everything else smell bad.

I carry a small dry bag with my medications inside - I had pills get damp/wet once and they were useless and a larger dry bag is my laundry bag

I can't believe the travel router made the worst list. I have another model and it's the best - I set it up once and all my devices connect to it. No setting up multiple devices to the wifi, all my stuff sits on its own subnet, I can add a Chromecast if I want and I route all traffic through a VPN for extra safety. Never had issues with speed or range.

Shocking but I actually get better (some?) sleep on a long haul flight using that same neck pillow. It attaches to the head rest on the seat so my head doesn't fall forward and wake me up. It's memory foam so I can pack it down to about a third of the size (it came with its own case). I got about six hours of sleep in a 14 flight in a middle seat thanks to that pillow. It also allowed me to get some sleep during a long late layover at the airport. If you take quick or daytime flights a neck pillow is definitely not necessary. Also not necessary if you can get a window seat (so that you can lean against the window) or a lay down seat.

Btw, the 24-105 f4 is great and we have the same camera body. We sold the lens but are considering other options like the Sony 16-35 or even 14-24. Agree with y’all about the gimbals. Takes too long to set up, attracts too much attention, and is useless for ABM users lol The drone we have too but also agree the laws are unclear and there is no true international standards and different countries have different rules they’re loud it’s takes long to set up. Shots are beautiful but you guys are right there is not much value for the average traveler. People want to see what it’s actually like on the ground in a country so drone shots aren’t as relatable.

Hey, Lisa and Josh. Here's a question that maybe you can address in a future podcast or KZbin video? I'm starting to plan a solo trip for one year. (Male, 62, my wife does not want to take this trip with me but will meet me in one or two amazing places along the way.) I hope to be gone for all of 2026. And I have a rough eastward itinerary and also a rough westward itinerary. I'm wondering if you might want to let me know if I'm trying to do too much. I've got nine locations where I'm planning to spend four weeks each and the rest of the time I will be actively traveling and spending 2-5 days in a location and then moving on. Happy to send you the rough list, so reply and I'll zap it to you. Obviously, I'm open to any suggestions and am looking forward to many adventures. Also, a bonus question, where should my wife meet me? --Grant. PS: Your videos are amazing!

God I hate drones 😅 I get why film maker types love them, don't get me wrong. But I just think they're so inconsiderate. They're loud, potentially dangerous and undoubtedly ruin any nice chill atmosphere at every viewpoint on the planet.

I used to be very impressed with drone shots in travel vlogs. Now when I see one I am taken out of the moment and think (1) huh, they brought a drone on their trip; (2) I wonder who operated it (if all the vloggers are in the shot and we can't see them using a controller; and (3) I will never see that POV so not sure what the point is. So yah, its ok to leave it at home.
