@@youtubeconnollyfamilyInteresting how a lot of these strongmen have that same mindset like Eddie Hall and Brian Shaw. I see a lot of that in Larry Wheels also, from trying different avenues and pushing yourself to the limit. I think it shows the connection between working out and pushing your brain to the limit and how that can impact going towards any goal.

Uhm, technically true if he can break before lock out since most holds take full 1-2 sec before it's locked but not all of em. Probably best to use his own weight against him and off his balance, doable but yeah just don't get punched or held got it's YOUZ vs a BEAR pretty much and sure the bear doesn't have much technique but the power and violence alone is enough so if Shaw is going in MMA he should go in hard with full intent to hurt people but then again exhibition match so no need to go that serious.

It good to see that Brian is taking this seriously. his training morale is impressive. It reminds me of how Hafthor took on boxing, only maybe even more so. He is definitely hitting faster than Hafthor did in the start. But he is suffering from one weakness that he shares with Hafthor. Both seems utterly afraid of going all in. Afraid to seriously hurt their opponent. But then again, that may be a good thing, considering the absolutely frightening strength those two have.

We all know Brian can take a punch. remember Eddie throwing that medicine ball, which prob weighs 30 pds off of Brian’s head. Did not even phase him. Coaches perspective. Think how cool it would be too literally have the strongest man on the Earth to coach for a MMA match within a couple months. You just need to teach him a few things to help him.

@@Kain_R_Heinlein omg I should have said that I forgot about that. That was insane. I remember watching that live. It was like a feather hitting him.😂 I wonder if Brian knows like he could literally kill someone if he wanted to and that’s why he is so nice because he knows how dangerous he is. Now he has the chance to legally hurt someone as bad as he can until the referee stops him. It’s not like he’s going against some weak guy. Martin Ford is probably crazier than anyone. I just think if Brian gets him down drops one elbow. It’s over.

Brian, I believe the one thing that you will struggle with the most will be to not hold any of your strength back when in the actual fight. Your whole life, you made sure not to use your full strength when touching someone else. When you are grappling with someone and try to manipulate their arms or legs, if you use all your strength, you will likely break their bones, and in MMA, that is a good thing. You are a truly nice guy and will be fighting people you are at least friendly with if not are genuinely your friends. Once the match starts you need to consider them your mortal enemy. Don't worry about how injuring them will effect them after the fight. Pretend they are trying to kill your family, and if you don't stop him immediately, he will do the worst things to possibly make them, then finally kill them. That is the mentality you need to be the best fighter possible within the time you have to train.

I feel that Brian is too much of a gentle giant, and that is the reason I love following his career. I think he is going to hold back most of his power since he is afraid he might do some real damage. That is detrimental in a sport where you need to hit the other guys block off. He needs to flip a switch somewhere to enter that killer mode before the fight or it is not going to go well.

Love to see it Brian. If I could offer some advice, focus on wrist control when in a clinch, use body pressure to your advantage (push on your opponent then switch suddenly and pull them onto the mat ) use elbows (most effective when in close range and on breaks) tap the body (doler plexus, liver, ribs) this keep the opponent hurt and open to a headshot.

Wow, either he is very hard to coach or he could use some different instruction on how to strike. Big guys gotta stop thinking punch “hard” and has to learn smooth and fast. The “hard” will come with his mass and crisp technique. It’s almost like his body is stuck in a certain mode of being from all the strongman training!
