Man, the work dedicated fans like yourself do always leaves me in awe of what folks like you are able to accomplish without the financial and material resources that companies have to make things like this Enterprise-D model. PASSION is the key element missing. You always see AMAZING recreations of source material faithful costumes at conventions by cosplayers. They share info on how to build things with each other (as you do in this vid), on what materials will give you the best results on the budget you have to achieve it with and they want to share the fruits of their passion's labor. Bravo, man. Your attention to detail and dedication to being as faithful as you possibly can be is both inspiring and humbling.

You’d think at an overall cost of around $2000, you shouldn’t have to mod ANYTHING. But as you said, there were so many things they didn’t get right. It’s going to look like a million bucks in comparison when you’re done, and you’ll have that much more pride in it, knowing you put your own touch on it! Well done!! 👏

Absolutely for this price it should be screen perfect, and to be honest it is annoying that the mods need to be done, but I am actually enjoying them. and when done, it'll be worth it. But bad form from Eaglemoss to begin with..

I wanted to get one but the deal breaker for me was the transition between the secondary hull and the neck is just not right. I like the smooth transition of the 6 foot model. I had the hard transition you often see on CGI models of the Enterprise.

I already did, kzbin.info/www/bejne/i2Klh2ajh9Oaf9Usi=1e3clkHqh3N3l022 Basically, one or two (no more) light coats of copper does the trick. A good idea but with the skeletal structure of it I'd imagine it'd be very difficult. Even if you used clear windows, instead of what comes with it, would you be able to see in? Now, the shuttle bays could be doable... I was thinking of that myself.

If you've watched my mod videos on this David you'll have noticed the 'Red Alert - all mods at your own risk' notice at the start. I can't take the responsibility of a part accidently breaking/cracking/scratching as you'd have to buy the issue again to replace the part(s). But Good Luck with it and please feel free to reach out for any tips/guidance you need. Remember if you want to redo the nacelles you also have to re-light it. The lights that come with it are not bright enough.

@dansmodeluniverse hi yes saw the red alert but I wouldn't hold you responsible if something went wrong. I would just buy a new part and send it to you. I understand things can go wrong. More likely to go wrong if I do it. 😃

All those corrections is the reason I did not buy the Enterprise (that, and EM went bankrupt halfway the build, Fanhome stopped delivery to my country) If I buy a €2000 model kit, which claims to be licensed, then I expect a 100% accurate representation from the original. If not, I could buy a €25 Revell model myself
@TheSnowwraith
@TheSnowwraith Жыл бұрын
The main reason I didn't choose this model is because of how fragmented the hull sections were. The "real" ship is a smooth, unbroken, hull. I would've had to fill in all the gaps and repaint everything. Seeing how each panel screwed into place had variations in height it would've been an impossible job. At least when I built the Eaglemoss Millennium Falcon there were only a few major panel lines to fill in.

What size drill bit did you need to drill the hole for your custom stand Dan?
@dansmodeluniverse
@dansmodeluniverse 9 ай бұрын
the drill bit size doesn't matter Chris, that's only to give the starting point for the hole saw. Ideally the hole saw size should be 7/8” as that’s the size of the rod, but I had to use 1”. I purposely used rail sockets with screw adjustments, so I could secure the rod, sturdily, in place.

All these changes and you're still end up with a misshaped model that doesn't resemble any of the versions of the D seen in any of the incarnations of the show.
