Some great mods mate. I've added three pouches to the front of mine and took the original pouch from the front and had it sewn onto the lid, but nothing as in depth as you have. I've always wondered why nobody has come up with a Bergen that offers the military compartmentalisation and the civilian hiking comfort, it would be I think a simple fix but I lack the expertise to pull it off. Looking forward to the load out videos, especially the Alice pack. Thanks for sharing. Atb Shaun

Cheers Shaun..I remember that vid with the dpm bergan..the mods just make living out of a rucksack a little bit easier saves you having to got into the main for those bits you use a lot of the time..

A really interesting subject is modifying your own kit and you have done a great job. Thing is, I want to see how to sewed those pouches on, by machine or hand and will go looking at your video content to see if you done such.

By hand I'll bet, you ain't maneuvering a pack round a sewing machine lol.

Your mods are great mate! .... As a old fart the only thing I would say is that, I like the main weight to be higher up ! Away from my lower back. So these days I still use my old long back plce 120 ltr , but I load lighter at the bottom ( kit allowing 🙄) and heavier at the top, thus allowing me to carry a little more heavy weights on the side pockets! However.... the rear pocket as you know, its pretty useless at best! ... other than a water canteen and roll off tape, so I would definitely consider removing it and replacing it with a larger one,..... but again.. further up! Great job and video again my friend! Really enjoy your stuff! Much respect and very best wishes 👍🏽👍🏽😎🙏🏼🇬🇧🇬🇧👌🏽

Great video sir. Thank you for your effort. I have one just like yours and I love it. Can bring anything and what not when I bring my children outdoors like today. And we all know that kids mean a lot of equipment. 11, 6 and 2 years of age. I love bushcraft, hiking and fishing etc. And to be able to go outdoors nowadays meaning I bring my kids with me and have a fantastic time with each other. Makes fantastic memories also

I've a project coming up, thread should be here today, Macpac Torlesse 50+10 I'm adding four rockets to, two will be stitched at the side very similarly to your setup, but the other two will zip on around the front, clips tabbed to the pack to support and then I still have the daypack and yoke option.

puts my fugly frankenstein custom plce bergen to shame. Something i did do, i took the frame out and now the pack molds to my back (it feels more like a patrol pack). I might have to borrow an idea or two off you, i like the retainer strap under the lid. (glad those arktis pouches came in handy)
@vikingmitch40495 жыл бұрын
Cheers Neil. I remembered seeing the frankingbergan 😂😂😂😂.thought you got an airborne support bergan??
@neilcastell69515 жыл бұрын
Viking mitch ... i did get a air support Bergen afterwards (my winter Bergen) ... the fugly one is my knock around Bergen, one thing I do like about it is that it’s narrow, but still has a lot of carry capacity (7 utility pouches, rocket pouch on the base, detachable resi pouch on the lid). The air support Bergen I get snagged up when trying to go threw doorways, lol .... I bought an olive green Italian Lowe alpine cfpo90 rucksack, just trying to configure some extra pouches,

I am not familiar with the pack so I don't know what it used to look like but the mods you have done look 1st class, as if they were always meant to be there. I love modifying my kit too. It isn't truly your until you have changed it up mate! I will probably have a lot of questions for you in the future in terms of where to buyy certain bits as I am slowly uprading the LK35 rucksack. I moved from a sabre 75 to a sabre 45 and then to the LK35 but am still not 100% happy. I need more pockets! Where did get this pack and how much are they mate? Subbed you, I like the tone of this video so am sure Ill like more. Time for a binge watch lol

Hi mate gleaming bit of kit that. Have you ever thought about doing your own tailoring for other lads? I know places like Jay Jays & Dixie Corners is quite pricey, and with what you’re doing seems a lot more functional in terms of recycling already issued kit and I think that’s class. Would you maybe start a little service to mod issued kit? Or sell kit you’ve already tailored? You can find some gucci bergens on eBay but again really pricey and with the reviews you have on your own kit, if you were to go in the field with it you’d be pretty swept up & squared away. Keep cracking on bud. ATB Wriggers.

What was the other tool on the right hand side that wasn’t the machete, don’t think you said. Also how did you sew these as it’s quite thick material?
