He doesn't really mistreay anyone and is actually a really nice dude; he was willing to sacrifice himself in the license exam for Tenya simply because he bothered to help him, and he even befriended Deku because he was worried for him. Also he's just straight up funny

Honestly, I get it because he looks like what you would imagine a "Bad Guy pretending to be Good" would be. Like if you described Omni-man and All Might to me, as well as their actions, before I seen the characters. Then shown me the two in their suits, side by side. It would be easier for me to think that All Might's design was that of the "guy who sees everyone else like creatures beneath him." vs Omni-mans design where he looks like an older hero dad type with the greying hair and all. I get that it was a subversion of expecation sort of look, but All Might does have that kind of look going on so it would makes sense non-anime veterans would think that.

I actually think Deku's personality shows through extremely well: his anxious innocent eyes, his skinny frame, freckles, and curly, demure hair compared to ostentatious styles like Todoroki, Yaoyorozu, Fumikage, etc. It makes him endearing and easy to empathize with.

I find it fascinating how she picks up on visual designs perfectly for some series (like, she nailed the personality of almost everyone in Ace Attorney) but also really struggles with some others (like here, getting a lot of heroes and villains mixed up). It goes to show how much more universal the design sense of some shows is. I think anyone who's into anime would know who the good and bad guys are in HeroAca from just a look (aside from maybe Smallmight, he looks evil for sure), but I guess that's because the series uses some visual language that's more specific to anime than stuff like Pokemon or Ace Attorney.
