Gaara's subject matter while talking to himself in the fight will make more sense around Shippuden ep 297....... which is actually around ep 517......Why do they want control of Konoha?? Depends on who "They" is that you're referring to, to be honest.......It's a deep show and a lot of things are revealed later in the story.......It's slow to point out perspective.....These first 100 eps are to teach the shows mechanics and character techniques, backstories, and personalities....... this is why it speeds up after the "Naruto Hundo" when we get a grasp of what's happening.....
