The Craig era bond definitely thrusts the franchise in to a grittier feel and honestly I was in love with it. The dry one liners were just funny enough to feel like bond and didn't feel too "cheesy" as some of the other bond eras. The Action was phenomenal, villains felt real and the banter between the actors felt natural. With that being said, Brosnan will forever be my bond

One of the darkest Bond movies ever made, as well as License To Kill, which was darker and more violent.

I’d say it’s darker that LTC, only because LTC still had its silly, Roger Moore style comedy with Q as full blown comic relief and Wayne Newton. This has some quips, but they’re appropriate to the story and aren’t completely out of control. The tone here stays pretty consistent, and it doesn’t really in LTC. It’s either guys being eaten by sharks or a really goofy bar fight where a shotgun can make a perfect circle hole in a wall. If anything, Living Daylights had a more consistent tone throughout, with funny moments that don’t seem out of another movie.

Watching this I agree with the opinion that Daniel Craig is the most believable Bond. As the description goes he does look like a person who would strangle his grandmother for her pearls and stop for a sandwich in the kitchen as he escapes. He just looks like a man who is ok with violence as a solution. He’s not my favorite Bond but he’s possibly the most believable Bond.

For me, it's the perfect modern Bond film. Beat for beat, this is a modern version of the novel, right down to the dialogue. A lot of the credit goes to the director, Martin Campbell, who also directed Goldeneye, after 6 years between films. Both times, he was brought in to revive the series after what was seen as less than stellar movies, one that actually didn't do very well by Bond standards (License To Kill) and one that did (Die Another Day), but with that one, the producers looked back and wisely recognized that the series was headed in the wrong direction. The same thing happened after Moonraker. Everyone realized the series was going off the rails with the silliness, so they went back to the novellas in that came and made For Your Eyes Only, the best of the Roger Moore era. But Martin Campbell is really the only modern Bond director who understands pacing. He's able to make a modern action film without it becoming a bad Jason Bourne knock off. This is the 007 of the novel Casino Royale. Daniel Craig's hair colour never bothered me. He more or less came off like an actual spy rather than a rich ladies man with the one liners of a 13 year old boy cosplaying as a spy. Dalton will forever be my favourite, followed by Sean Connery, but I enjoy Craig - even if his tenure faced script issues. For me, Eva Green is easily the best Bond girl since Diana Rigg. Looks aren't everything. He only says I love you to 2 women. That's good enough for me to put them at the top of the list.

What an introduction for Daniel Craig. Please don't pay too much attention to critics about Quantum of Solace (I do believe everyone's entitled to their opinion), it's true it feels like a parallel universe's Bond, but I feel it's still a pretty good Bond. Following with Skyfall, my favorite of the DC Bonds, you won't be disapointed. Love the mother-son relationship.

I love the ending. Since most of us have watched a number of Bond films before this one, we don't realize that he hasn't said his iconic catchphrase until that last line . I think some people miss the fact that he's not even a double 00 agent at the beginning, and he's not truly "James Bond" until the very end. This movie did a fantastic job of showing us how 007 came to be what we've seen him as all these years.

The Police Chief we see getting arrested when Mathis is introduced is played by Producer Michael G. Wilson. The airport player that the bomber killed via snapping his neck is Director Martin Campbell.

18:03 That's Michael G Wilson, son in law of the great Cubby Broccolli who's been Writer, co-producer and now producer on many Bond films since he joined Eon Productions in 1972. He - or his voice - have had many cameos. Look out for him.

I saw the Pierce Brosnan James Bond movies and I loved them. But when Daniel Craig took over, to me, he’s the best Bond. I know that’s controversial, but that’s how I feel. The confidence, the vulnerability, the hubris, Daniel had it all and more.

The writer of Bond books Ian Fleming was head of Naval intelligence too and it's thought Bond was an amalgamation of real agents he knew and worked with closely. Also Christopher Lee was related to Ian Fleming and was also part of British intelligence during the war as he had once served in the long range desert reconnaissance group prior to working in intelligence. (a group that was heavily recruited from in the very early days of the formation of the SAS) he famously once had an argument while making Lord of The Rings and asked Peter Jackson when arguing over the sound Saruman should make when stabbed in the back and said "Do you know the sound a man makes when stabbed in the back?... Well I do." To which he won and they allowed him to do the reaction his way. 😂

I assume you didn't know about the movie of the same name made in 1967 which was a Bond spoof starring David Niven, Peter Sellers, Woody Allen, and Orson Welles who played Le Chiffre. Yes there was a Bond spoof before Austin Powers. Niven plays the elder Sir James Bond, and Peter Sellers plays his son James. The movie does take place in a Casino and is taken loosely from the book. Ursula Andress also stars but in a different character than her Bond girl in Dr No. I guess you won't be reacting to the last hurrah for Sean Connery as Bond in 1983's "Never Say Never Again" which is basically a remake of Thunderball. It is basically neglected and there was I guess some film rights and the Broccoli family drama involved, plus Connery needing the money and relenting doing Bond again was involved for it to be made in between Roger Moore movies.

Also there were other late 60s movies that were spoofs of Bond movies with other stars playing different variations of James Bond. James Coburn played spy Derek Flint in several movies that had outrageous gadgets and stunts. Also Dean Martin played Matt Helm in several movies playing the character of a famous fashion photographer and womanizer, but being a spy on the side also with over the top gadgets and special effects.

This is, in a way, a reboot the first time was the TV show "Climax" where Barry Sullivan played American spy Jimmy Bond (1954) then Woody Allen played Jimmy Bond in the movie rendition ( also Peter Sellers ) 1964.

I wasn't a fan of the other Craig films but for me, this is probably the best Bond film ever made. It's gritty, cheeky and introduces an emotional layer while staying true to the brand. No other franchise could pull off the last 10 seconds like that.

The rights for Casino Royale had been sold to someone else before Eon started making the Bond movies so they started with Dr. No which was a more recent Bond novel (the 6th). The film version of Dr. No is actually fairly accurate to the novel (although I'd say Dr. No's death in the film is better than in the book). This resulted in some slight changes to the Roger Moore film Live and Let Die because Dr. No was filmed first. Live and Let Die is the 2nd Bond novel and is where Bond first meets Quarrel but Quarrel died in the film version of Dr. No as he does in the Dr No novel. To get around this they simply introduced Quarrel's son in Live and Let Die.

This one was mind boggling fun. I loved it. Nick, I loved the signed autograph by Mads, that is SICK! Jen, the reaction you gave when he almost ran over Vesper, SO GOOD. This channel continues to outdo itself with such amazing content, and I’m always looking forward to the next crazy movie you both watch. If I may offer a suggestion for a movie? We all know how pro-female character y’all are. What about 1995’s Showgirls? The Unrated cut of course. I just saw this version a few weeks ago and it’s different. It’s a movie few react to. See what you think!

Die Another Day made him look ridiculous. Martin Campbell knew how to to rough him up a bit and make him somewhat believable as a spy. He had some of the worst dialogue of any Bond actor. I'll take all the tart's handkerchiefs in the world over "I like to keep my tip up" and all the cringy dialogue with Halle Berry and Rosamund Pike. It was like they temporarily fired Purvis and Wade and hired some random 13 year old boy to write the script. Invisible cars in a James Bond film?

The movie should have ended with the line, 'The bitch is dead. ' She's killed along with Le Chiffre. And Bond is recovering alone in the Swiss spa.
