I didn’t realize this until it was printed out to me last week, but Pai Mei claiming Kiddo’s arm as his own means that he was the one to snatch out Elle’s remaining eye, he was the one to strike the fatal blow on Bill. Also… “Silly Rabbit, ‘Trix are for kids.”

The tension between Uma Thurman and Daryl Hannah on the set of Kill Bill was THICK. They reportedly didn't get along at all, and even asked hotel staff to keep them apart during the press tour for the first film. Things got so bad that Hannah was the only one to show up to collect their award for Best Fight at the 2005 MTV Movie Awards. It's always a bummer when cast members don't get along, but at least it didn't affect their on-screen chemistry - they were both killer in their roles (no pun intended).

Since you didn’t mention it during this film, the man who played Esteban the pimp (Michael Parks) also played the sheriff in Kill Bill 1.

I'm not even through the reaction yet, but I didn't realize that THE BARTENDER IS SID HAIG! Love, love, love him in the "House of 1000 Corpses" trilogy, "The Devil's Rejects" being my favorite. R.i.p. He was a great character actor.

Another actor who appeared as two characters in the two 'Kill Bill' films was Michael Parks, who played both the lawman/sheriff at the scene of the church massacre in Vol. 1 and Esteban Vihaio in Vol. 2.

Fun fact: Bill's car around 5:30 is a De Tomaso Mangusta. Mangusta is Italian for Mongoose which are known to kill snakes. And then there's the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad with everyone having a snake code name.
@charleslee8313
@charleslee8313 11 ай бұрын
All of the snakes used as code names are venomous snakes, except the California Mountain Snake (Elle's code name), but... she makes up for it by using venom and poison in her attacks.

Yeo, the actor playing the bartender, Sid Haig, was also in Jackie Brown, he's probably best known for his work in Rob Zombies horror films but has a long and storied career in such shows as Gunsmoke, Star Trek, Charlie's Angels, MacGuyver, Dukes of Hazzard and many others, his film and tv career spans over six decades!. He was in a few blacksploitation films with Pam Grier back in the day too, hence his appearance in Jackie Brown.

Beatrix was in a coma for 4 years. Her fight with Vernita Green was 4 years and 6 months after the massacre. In the prior 6 months she went to Okinawa, got a Hanzo sword and got back into shape, then went after O-Ren. Then she spent some time tracking down Vernita. :)

When Bill made the statement, "I overreacted," I recall hearing several women in the theater groan . . .
@kylewestlake982

I honestly don't believe Bill would've bought that story Elle told about Beatrix putting a Black Mamba in Budd's trailer. Beatrix is a warrior, and warriors face their enemies head-on. Putting a snake in his trailer isn't Beatrix's style, and Bill would know that from being in a relationship with her. Also, I don't agree with Bill's stance on Superman. Clark Kent isn't Superman's critique of the human race. He represents Superman's desire to be a part of the human race. He was brought to Earth by the hand of fate, the unavoidable, and his arrival was like a gift from the heavans. Superman is a god for all intents and purposes, but despite his divinity, he still yearns to be one of us.
@rowenatulley852
@rowenatulley852 11 ай бұрын
Exactly. Clark Kent was merely a disguise. However, I agree with the idea that Bill's viewpoint of Kent as a critique of humanity makes sense to him. I keep forgetting Bill is a terribly flawed individual . . .

Via Reddit: Uma Thurman and Daryl Hannah in Kill Bill Volume 2. Apparently they hated each other even after they wrapped on the film, because at Cannes 2004, they had to be put in separate hotels and were kept apart by hotel employees so they didn't cause a scene with their arguments. That dynamic definitely showed in their sword fight in the Budd's trailer. Anyone know thereason for this feud? Daryl and Uma used to share a mentor, and Daryl always held a resentment because Uma was favored over her. Although she never admitted it, she was also plainly jealous of Uma's skills and natural flair. Uma's dislike for Daryl is less nuanced and a lot more straight forward - Years ago, Daryl was part of the team that shot her in the head and left her for dead. Glad I could help.

Not only would the dirt crush her when she punched a hole thru the coffin, even if it didn't, there's still no way for her to get out of the hole. If the dirt is loose enough for her to move in, there would then be no way for her to have any leverage to boost herself upward. She would just continually sink. She might make some progress as her foot will compress some of the dirt, but it would be very little and she would run out of air long before she makes it to the top. Odds are though, the dirt would be packed in enough so that it would make it impossible to move her limbs around....and she would run out of air very quickly. I never knew Myth Busters did a part about this scene. I'll have to check that out.

Beatrix was a Roman christian martyr in ancient times, back in old Europe you and I originate from. In latin, it means "the happy one"...not really the case for poor Beatrix Kiddo before she found her daughter back. I really don't know if I prefer KB I or II. I is a cartoonish action flick, while II is on the psychological side of things. The fight between Beatrix and Elle is my favorite movie girlfight ever. Absolutely stellar performance by Uma Thurman in this movie. I'm so glad you enjoyed this movie. Your reactions are top tier and remind me of the time I was watching movies with my own mom. She disliked Star Wars, loved Lord of the Rings, was a Tarantiono fan and loved gorish horror stories!

It wouldn’t seem understandable if a woman killed a guy for not wanting to be with her. They still tell Laraina Bobbit jokes even though she was getting beaten and didn’t kill anyone. Then there was that time when a 23 year old woman was taking advantage of by arguably the most important man on the planet at that time. She was body shamed, called a slut, a liar, while also being ridiculed for having proof the guy lied about having “sexual relations” with here. Even after he admitted lying the woman was stalked. Her life was ruined. Even now over 25 years later a large amount of her life is dealing with people bringing it up. The people who were supposed to defend AGAINST these things lead the lynch mobs that harassed this woman. However it turned out they had similar scandals of abusing their power to force women into sexual relationships. In fact they were worse. They locked these women in rooms with them and forcibly engaged them into sexual acts. The locked doors and money set aside for lawsuits were apart of their employment contracts. Which means everyone knew and enabled this rapist behavior. Being in a position of power isn’t necessary. Many woman are intimidated by possessive kids who are dangerous because they have the body of a grown man in a society that normalizes treating woman like property without the freedom to choose their own life. The fact that we think this psychotic behavior is understandable, when it’s a man, shows how prevalent this deadly degree of sexism is. On the other hand woman are treated like they are the weirdos. Over emotional. It’s used to shut them up when they complain about this behavior. And I take the risk of being accused of the same for having an anti-tyrant viewpoint. Even though it’s my right. It might be seen as harsh even though I’m arguing against violence used to control people and needing to get pleasure causing others pain. We identify with the abuser. Ignore the fact that someone is being killed for making their own choices. Even the fact that he killed a pregnant woman and 8 strangers is forgotten. We are tricked into rationalizing mass murder by a man who feels he can do what he wants to do to anybody and doesn’t even feel the need to explain. We end up doing all the work of justifying his tyranny for him. But our official stance is AGAINST violence and if a woman did this it would validate everything ever said about woman suffering from “hysteria”. An actual diagnosis given to woman by doctors who treated it with vibrators. (By the way, interesting little side note. That’s said to be the start of adult toys like vibrating dildos.) A lot of real life situations play out the way the abuse plays out in the movie and the perspective of it that leads to seeing vile actions as understandable despite the fact that they are psychotic, inhumane, and unjustifiable. The same rivalry that played out between the blond characters also effected the actors themselves in real life. The power dynamics of the female actors with a male boss who expects them to do dangerous stunts that lead to Uma not talking to Quinton for 19 years, mirrors the pimp like relationships Bill has with his female army. He learned well from his pimp mentor and the sexist abusive martial arts instructor. Being a good fighter does change the fact that you’re a bigot. Quentin is great at blurring the lines. Their are no ALL good or bad people, in the classic sense. Even Kiddo has people she wronged like the daughter of the woman she killed who deserves their revenge based off these principles. I like that. It’s just when it comes to the narrative of this movie I can’t help asking 2 questions. Is it true that every story written including fiction is autobiographical to a certain degree? And Is art imitating life? Or is life imitating art?

The one big thing I do not see working in this movie, is a woman like Uma Thurman letting herself get impregnated by a David Carradine looking guy who's 30 years older than her. I think there was some wishful thinking from Quentin in that casting. At the time Uma was 33 years and David was 67 years old not very believable to me personally.

Tarantino was responsible for the loss of a valuable antique western era guitar lended to him by a museum for the filming of the eight hateful. I think he deliberately didn't told Kurt Russell about the guitar. Sounds exactly like the "it's safe to drive this car" told to Uma. I don't trust Tarantino.
