Carbons don’t require maintenance. I often don’t oil mine and it’s absolutely fine after even a few days. If you’re very on the ball, you can wash, dry and wd40 on it, takes 10 seconds more that a stainless to clean, which is simply oiling it.

Loved my refina bloody lovely towel. But the glue didn't hold. One day maybe a year in at its best nicely honed in . The blade just fell off the handle . Gutted . Use nela black now but I do miss that refina . Have to say I am going back to Mt these days . But it is nice to finish that set a few minutes early with a little less strain on the trowel arm with a flex 👍

Good video mate. All MT trowels are 0.4mm and refina are 0.3 mm but still feel,s rigid for a flex.

I’ve always rated the Refina trowels the only gripe would be the handles aren’t as comfortable in comparison to Nela or Mt.

Hi Stu, thanks for this helpful video. How much set do you mix up at a time on those domestics with the tricky architrave margins, doorframes etc? I find myself losing it if I’m not careful as a lot of time is spent on endless wiping down coving edges skirting edges etc or do you always mask everything up.
@troweltalk27192 жыл бұрын
Hi Malcolm, For detail work like you've mentioned, small margins, beading & curves etc I will shrink my set sizes right down sometimes I might even knock up only half a bag depending on how fiddly the job is & suction etc.. These days I do mask most of my trim as like you I got fed up wiping down especially pva. The tape is great when cutting in the pva as you do not have to worry & can slap it on heavy then the tape peels away at the end of the job to reveal a crisp edge. Someone said to me once 'taping up takes too long' my response was how long does it take you to clean off all your door trim & skirting? Another thing with the tape is that it stops moisture penetrating trim like when you cut in with the wet brush so the arcs & skirts & door linings are not taking in any moisture which reduces risk of cracking caused by movement in the timbers for example door linings. You can also use the tape to wrap power points etc. I wouldn't be without the taoe these days to be honest. Thanks for watching the channel 👍

Thanks for your detailed reply Stu. Do you manage to mask up even coving edges ? I find these are one of the most trickiest edges to keep clean. The masking tape I use won’t stay bent round the corner as the profile of the coving is so thin which in turn makes it twice as hard to clean up. 😩

Good evening. Can I use the PVA on plasterboard plastering?I know you don't have to, but whether you can or not, it wont ruin the plaster will it ?
@troweltalk27192 жыл бұрын
Hi , yes you can apply PVA to plasterboard sometimes we do this if the boards are old all it will do is slow suction down it won't ruin anything
