I've been hooked to this song for the last 2 weeks. I absolutely love how it slows down after the "again" part and then it goes into the mid tempo part "an idea calls...". That part and the vocal harmonies are sooo catchy. Great sing along section

I don't know much about My Morning Jacket (I had heard of them but they are not that well known in Britain), but being a fan of Rhiannon Giddens led me to 'The New Basement Tapes' project and Jim James, so I thought that I would have a listen. Interesting- sounds remarkably like early Blue Oyster Cult (a good thing). His voice and the slightly 'detached' vocals as well as the guitar and keyboard sound. I will have to listen to a few more songs to see if this song is typical.
@justinklefstad17929 жыл бұрын
+Portcullis There isn't much typical about MMJ. They are very hard to put in any category. They are considered alt rock, a jam band, alt country, psychedelic, southern rock, etc. The passion from the band and especially Jim James is part of what makes them great. Their live performances show this and that's the main thing that separates them from most bands. Check out some live action to see what I'm talking about

nice tag with Blue Oyster Cult, def some 70s proto black metal here. and as other commenter said, they have a lot of different styles, which make them pretty amazing. their early indie rock/ alt country is something to check out before anything else. you get a sense what the soul of Yames is and the band.

I believe the water fall represents negative feelings like depression or anger or whatnot, and he's saying that the feelings were always there and grew more rooted over many years, but the "water fall" was stopped because he simply thought himself out of the feelings and believed that it was all in his head, which I believe is the case with depression almost 98% of the time.
