Can I just say how bloody fabulous you are for doing this!! We need more people teaching the younger generation about menopause and what to expect. Unless people who have been through it share there stories, people go through it blind. And that’s not fun.

Amazed at your HRT, a revelation. It looks so simple and obviously works. As a 68yr old fitness instructor Ive seen women in my classes who worked hard to stay fit yet stacked on weight during menopause. I was offered one drug but for that very reason never took it and suffered badly, still have flushes. Of course HRT was in its infancy then. Ladies please don’t suffer, use the meds and live your best life. So many women’s health issues are brushed aside, Endometriosis is another, thank you Davina for addressing this, it’s long overdue.

Hi Davina, thanks for all the work you are doing around menopause. You’re fabulous! Just wanted to bring some awareness of my dopey Dora moment using HRT as I wanted to prevent anyone else making the same mistake. I was prescribed HRT patches (Evorel Sequi) and was advised by the doctor, there are 2 hormones in the patches, change them twice a week and alternate legs. On collection the pharmacist advised the same. Being an eager beaver I started using the patches. Unfortunately, it didn’t start well and I was all over the place emotionally/physically but stuck (no pun intended 🤪) to them as I read HRT takes a while to kick in and settle. And to be fair I did have moments of my old self coming back. Anyway fast forward to this year I started feeling worse then I did before taking HRT. I felt really desperate and overwhelmed again and thought sod this!! However, I thought I’d solider on and stick to them (.. gosh I’m so funny) But then as I was changing my patch one day I read the name on the individually wrapped patches and noticed they were different. I then took out all the patches in an unopened box and found it contained 8 patches in total, 4 Progesterone Patches and 4 oestrogen Patches. So I read the the leaflet PROPERLY and realised I had been applying the patches in no order which was probably why I felt the way I did i.e. too much oestrogen. Having read the advice on the leaflet, I took the patch off and made an appointment with my doctor to discuss next steps. The doctor went through how to use them correctly and I decided to give them another try. Fortunately after a few weeks I’m coming back to life and feel so much better and I’m hopeful it will continue. I was at fault as I didn’t read through the leaflet, though I think the instructions should be explained by doctors and pharmacists emphasising the importance of using HRT correctly, especially if it needs to be applied in a particular order. And of course to read the instructions ourself too. I hope this helps someone. Long may all of us perimenopausal and menopausal women reign… WE’VE GOT THIS !!

Just found you’re channel, so glad I did, just about to start HRT, bit scared about that, meant to have a patch twice a week and progesterone pill every night apparently, you have a “care free, just get on with it” way about you, love it, think you’re great ♥️
@SW-ui5sj2 жыл бұрын
Hi I've just been prescribed the same , will this help with libido and chronic fatigue or would I need a little testosterone gel to
@suzieg90762 жыл бұрын
@@SW-ui5sj I’m still researching information with being new to this but I have learned that most issues caused by the menopause usually improve significantly with the right dose of oestrogen, progesterone to protect the womb, testosterone can be given to post menopausal women to help with libido, I have lots of broken sleep with hormonal imbalance at the moment which leads to fatigue which should improve with HRT, I’m trying to change my patches and pills to just the patch which contains both oestrogen and progesterone (Evorel Conti). I hope this helps.

Hey Davina, your so so funny, easy going and real.....THANK YOU XX I watched your programme on menopause and thanks to you, I pho ned my gp and im now on HRT. Well, ive put my first patch on this morning. Im hoping I wont have an adverse reaction as I usually do to most conventional meds. I hope it works and I feel well again. I started with the perimenopausal 7 years ago, I had no help, support or advise from my gp at that time or throughout the 7 years, until a month ago. My new gp, took two lots of bloods and both came back as having very low oestrogen. After not having a period for over a year I am now full blown menopausal at 49. I had a blood test to check my vitamins as that's super importantant to check. Never take vitamins unless your deficient in them. I've suffered hair loss, weight gain, mood swings, anxiety and hot sweats day and night for 7 years alone with no support....I worked full time, went through a nasty abusive separation and my daughters autism diagnosis and other stuff coping with a hormonal pr o blem that I could have had support with. Ladies, don't suffer alone xx love ya Davina. Xx

Can I ask you for an update? How have you got on with HRT? I just began mine last night - nervous as I usually react to things too but I feel hopeful after doing lots of research...
@ladybancroft2488 Жыл бұрын
Hi Emily, I'm so so sorry you too react to most meds and fear taking them as a result. Since taking HRT I have felt incredibly better in everyway, however, I have had a few unwelcomed periods and bleeding at random times. I have had a polyp removed and ill be having another one removed in the next few weeks as a result of taking HRT. Prior to taking the HRT I hadn't had a period for 15 months so it was a bit of a concern that I had a period after 6 months of taking it. Thankfully my gp had me seen by the gynecologist within a couple of weeks for a check up. I don't suffer hot sweats, or dreadful mood swings, weight gain or as much hair loss. I'm always careful with my diet as im allergic and intolerant to most foods and so on, that being said, im super careful and I exercise 4 times a week. I really hope the HRT works for you and helps you feel better. I use evorel conti patches, I change them every monday and Thursday. Let me know if I can help you with any other questions. Take care lovely 👋😃🌞
@emmierow1980 Жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for getting back to me!! I’m really glad you’ve been feeling so much better. The polyps aren’t great and I hope that’s the end of them for you 🙏🏻🙏🏻 Today is day one and if it’s possible, I’d say I’ve noticed a couple of tiny improvements (vaginal dryness and energy) but also a threatening hormonal headache in the background. I can handle them if it means I feel better though. Thanks again for letting me know how you got on! And I too have developed a bunch of food sensitivities due to hormones (I think high histamine foods but also dairy is starting to become an issue). I definitely don’t have the luxury of eating whatever I want any more… xx
@ladybancroft2488 Жыл бұрын
@@emmierow1980 Same, so nice to hear back from you too again...🌼😀 im so sorry as I forgot to mention the migrainey headaches, vaginal dryness,the feeling bloated, insomnia as well as the other numerous delightful issues that come with being perimenopausal/menopausal. I've always suffered with dairy, gluten, yeast and so on but only after years of doing a process of elimination diet and many visits to a&e so I'm pretty good now at only eating what's not going to hurt me, however, side effects to most meds means I am more likely than most to get them all than just a couple, so like you I do become anxious before taking anything. There are so many ladies like us out there but we don't say anything. Your message was much appreciated. I wish you all the very best on the hrt and hope you continue to feel more like yourself within the month as I did. Keep me posted please ....👋😃🌼
@ladybancroft2488 Жыл бұрын
@@emmierow1980 Hi Emily, I hope your feeling so much better on the HRT. I felt it was important to give you another update on hoe hrt has been for me since we last messaged. I had a Hysteroscopy on the 16th of April and found I didn't have a polyp as it was seemingly showing on the scan I'd had, which was great news. So I had a biopsy and was sent home. I bled after the procedure which is normal, however, I continued bleeding and then began getting lower back ache, so after the second fone call to the gynecologist I went to the hospital to get checked out. After waiting for 4 hours I was seen by a Dr who told i me it wasn't anything other than back ache and to go home. I looked it all up online and actually hrt can cause back ache for some women. So I made an appointment to see my gp and went in with everything written down and dates. Periods on an off for 4 weeks, lower back ache and generally feeling unwell. I have to come off the patches and have a blood test booked for the 7 th of june and see my gp on the 21st - once I know what my estrogen levels are, I'll either use the estrogen pump or not from here on. It seems the hrt in patch form for me is not suitable. For anyone who is on patches or about to go on them, please bare all this in mind, that not all hrt suits everyone and that side effects of periods, low moods, lower back ache and extreme fatigue could suggest your not on the right type of hrt and so a visit to your gp would be advised. Also, I suggest a diary i s kept as gps only have you r information to go by as not many of them are actually well informed, well not the 5 I spoke to 😖 I hope this information helps xx 🌼😃

Thank you for what you're doing. Davina, why no mention of progesterone though, do you have Mirena coil? It's great that you're bringing awareness but no mention of progesterone - that can give women the most problems. As you know, if you have a womb and take oestrogen then you have to take some form of progesterone to oppose endometrial build-up.

Androfeme - the majority of NHS GPs won’t prescribe it so you will more than likely have to go privately.

Hi Karen . If you look at Dr Louise Newson’s website I think there is information how to buy it in the U.K. It is possible to get regular testosterone in the U.K. through the NHS but not generally prescribed. I like the idea that the one Davina was using is actually designed for women. I am pretty sure it is Australian if that helps your search 🌞

great you sharing and showing HRT, I use oestrogel but not sure how to incorporate my fake tan routine as i do both in the evening. Do you leave a gap between the hrt gel and the fake tan? it says at least an hour on the leaflet. just wondered if you have any advice please, thanks Davina x

hi Davina, thank you for your video. I've just started my patches today, and was looking for some ideas as to where to put them(do and don'ts) and came across your video, you have made me feel normal and if you ca do it then why cant I. One question, and if anyone in the comments can answer I would love it. How long was it before you notice an changes, I know its different for everyone but a rough idea would be helpful. Thank you again you cheered me up no end (and I thought your morning eye makeup looked sensational)

@@hasinapatel1233 hi, I’ve actually come off them I’m in the process of being evaluated for ADHD and then we’re going to see where I am once that’s done. I can say they sort of worked but the plastic they’re made of drove me mad so uncomfortable but that’s just me. If I start them again I’ll let you know how I get on.

Wait when you do the patch is it synthetic hormones? Also does it balance hot flash and moods?
