My 2018 carry was CS Talwar...looking for new carry in 2019. Can't bear the thought of losing it now that CS isn"t making it any more.

Lots of good picks here. The Bugout was a standout design this year and makes a big leap from the 940 in terms of carry and design. I would love to see a G10 production version down the line somewhere.

You are 100% right about Benchmade s30v Bryan. It sharpens and deburrs fast, decent edge retention. Its a perfect knife user/EDC steel.

I'm looking at those ZT's and they remind me of the Prince of Persia knife. I like the old, rugged, badass design of 0350, 0566, 0630 so much better.

I agree on the smooth G10 PM2. I liked it enough that I did get the Para 3 to match it, and no, I'm not selling it, lol. Although I AM thinking of selling my Rex45 Para3..I am just not a fan of the orange scales, no matter how great the steel is. Great line up. Happy New Year to one and all.

Love my 940's and carry one almost every day! SMKW red cf 940 was the winner this year for me! Need to get some We knives in my collection. But the Bugouts are the runner ups! p.s. Bugouts going to be popping this year again with more changes!

Solid list, I like that you are considering a Para 3 again even though you ripped it for being hideous, haha! Not sure if you are on the Skaha 2 wait-list, but they just released a wait time e-mail feature, needless to say I don't need to worry about funds for one in the near future. I'm considering either buying a Gent, Native 5 LC200N, or custom Bugout scales, which would you choose?
@SliceyDicey
@SliceyDicey 5 жыл бұрын
The Para 3 IS hideous. Still feel like I should have one, though lol. And my Skaha estimate is "2 Months" according to the email thing. Out of the three you asked about... Do you have a three-sided coin? Not sure which I'd choose.

Hey Slicey. Thanks for another great vid but I just wanted to mention that not all of ZT's sprint runs have a downgrade in the steel. About 2yrs ago I picked up the 0801in a gorgeous bronze ano( with almost plum undertones) with an upgrade of M390. So beautiful I cant bring myself to use it other than to pull it out of it's padded case, admire it , flip it a few times and then put it back. Don't know why that is as I have knives that have cost 2 or 3 times what the 0801 cost me yet I have them in constant edc rotation, just one of those things I guess.

I liked it well enough to go back for the carbon fiber version as a 'keeper' rather than my blue 'carry'. One of the best tuned detents I've seen. Warning: they did have some that went out with the blade not centered or that shifted off center after a dozen flips. A little locktight and problem solved. FYI
@mforrest1508
@mforrest1508 5 жыл бұрын
You need to dedicate some time to sharpening. Not just touch ups. Like full stock removal and progression through the grits. You cant really have a favorite steel without doing it. Actually I’d go as far to say you can’t really have a valid opinion if you dont sharpen. You don’t have to be great. Just get rid of the factory edges. See how difficult it was, see how fast you can move through the stones, see how the bur forms. I’m not sure what you consider a touch up, but spyderco ultra fine and e en fine stones it not enough if the knife has been used. Not because it’s not sharp, because the steel is fatigued and looses many desirable qualities. Ket a kme or wicked edge or something. Thanks for the vids man. I enjoy the data points. I’d just like to see you asses the heat treatment, hardness and other characteristics of the blades.
@SliceyDicey
@SliceyDicey 5 жыл бұрын
I can do it. I do do it. Just not something I want to do on camera because others do it infinitely better. I stick to my skillset. And I've learned that there are people who are better at sharpening than me. I'll get there someday. This channel is only a little over a year old.

Slicey Dicey might be cool to see how your edges turn out. It takes lots and lots of practice to get good at it. But I imagine your skill set is about average. Might be cool to hear how pissed off zdp made you or how you love m4 now cause you can get it to shave.

I used to like them but if they aren't going to stand behind the outdoor community 100% then they don't deserve our patronage. They don't really offer anything special from my experience.
