It is costed around $400-500 and at the beginning only sold around $2500-3000s which was a bit fair for LV pricing standard, but now it is sold for $7500, it's hard to swallow 😮 i like this one tbh

People who spend big bucks on bags usually don't care about quality. They care about status. If you have $10,000-100,000 to spend on a quality bag, why not get one custom made at *esluxy* ? Choose your materials, thread, stitch pattern, design, and hardware. Imagine you have a $10,000 bag that's made from $7,000 of quality materials and $3,000 of labor. Currently, you're not paying for the materials, you're paying for the marketing.

Hi Tanner great review here thank you! The bag was made 2015 and I am not surprised why the quality is superb. I have some LV bags purchased before and after covid though I am not a leather expert but I can definitely tell the difference in texture and even the way they put the glazing on. I dont know if its just me but I think the quality of the luxury bags declined after covid yet their prices are now ridiculously unreal.

I’m surprised the glazing on this 8 years old Capucines hasn’t crack. There was an issue on the glazing around that time, people experienced melting and cracking. I myself has bought twice brand new and saw cracks on the glazing when I got home. No doubt it’s the best leather selection used, but the price LV charged today is insane. Back in 2014, the bb size was £2480 and now it has gone up to £5K ish….but I didn’t see the quality being double😬 I would say it’s a very beautiful bag but stressful to use, knowing the glazing will start to give way one day at the back of our head👎🏻. The reality is, there is no mass produced bag that can justify $7500. There are some bags that can justify that price, I think they are pretty much all made in Japan, bespoke, require an in-person meeting to discuss the bag, and have a multi-year waitlist.

Indeed, no factory made mag deserve that price for its quality and craftsmanship. It will be the logo you are paying for. But there are artisans even in USA, Europe and many other countries who make bespoke bags of that kind all by hand and they command those prices. LV Capucines don’t hold the same values for the like of Chanel classic flap and Hermès Birkin/Kelly. Sometime we don’t pay for a high quality bag itself, but we pay for images and status that comes with it.

What? The Chanel classic flap doesn’t hold much value either (take it from someone who has one and has also sold it). The LV Capuccines resale at £3,000 easily, so does the Chanel classic flap (actually take a look). The Hermes bags resale much higher because of the stringent code for obtaining it brand new in the first place. All bags are high quality, higher than your street shop AND more than a small boutique for certain AND yes it’s also for the status, this isn’t new information.

Many people say LV quality has plummeted the past few years, this bag could be considered vintage so maybe the new quality isn't as good.

I am not that experienced in the luxury space. In fact I started to look into these brands just a couple years ago as more of my audience requested these reviews for new brands and products. I do like your videos. But occasionally you understate a lot the value of labor in France of Brands like Chanel, Hermes and LV, from personal experience they are really well paid. Also take into account that the work week in France is 35 hours, up to 45 hours with overtime max. Also by law they have 4 weeks of paid vacation and most people at this type of companies get 6 weeks of paid time off. Even the cleaning staff gets well paid in most of them. And for the ones that use cheap labor they go to Portugal or Spain (they get paid more than average local Joe, but still cheaper than in France). You correct in saying they are way overpriced most of the time, I remember the first I entered the LV flagship in Champs Elysée and they were like 3500€ like 13 years ago.

I would say whenever we are talking super brands the answer will depend on your values. Because even that $2400 I paid is purely for logo not an 8 year old leather bag. If you ask me personally absolutely not worth it because I don’t value logos. I would rather buy 4 brand new different leather bags from Strathberry for that money and use them for decades changing between for different bags. Absolutely same quality leather and craftsmanship without the prestige premium.

Thank you for the question. This particular leather is really good. In fact best one I saw from the LV yet. But mostly Coaches glove tanned leather is also a great leather. If you compare glove tanned leather it is superior to many other lower level leathers from LV, like Epi leather.

Although it varies, I am sure Milo's bag's over $4k and Peter's work should also start from that range. Now the saddle stitched bespoke bags are crafted with completely different and artisan approach. Much more time and effort goes into each than factory manufactured bags. So the cost estimates wouldn't be comparable from the assembly standpoint.

Real real is not a good place to buy authentic bag. Last year, my friend bought a Gucci Marmint Mini Shoulder bag for around $1,600 and on the website said it's authentic. Since it was a good price my friend bought a lot of them and plan to resell. He took the bags and asked the bag experts and they all said they were fake. I also looked at some KZbin videos and everything that showed how to spot the fake one were all in that bag. So yeah big learning lessons for my friend.

How much could they realistically still sell at and still make profit like 1000$?

I think their profit on that $7500 would be somewhere of $2-2.5k - The majority of their cost inflating these prices are the premium real estate (stores) marketing, fashion shows and celebrity collabs which are all essential to engineer the luxury on the logo that people are actually paying for. So it is hard for me to guess a price point for them to sell this and make $1k profit. But if you buy this from a company who doesn't have any of those prestige creating expenses than they can sell this to you at $1.6-2k and be sustainable profitable business.

@@tanner.leatherstein I do appreciate this a lot because you have confirmed to me that many of these ‘luxury’ brands are ripping us off as I began to learn more so the hard way after buying this ferragamo wallet and after only 6 months the color started to wear off and I paid nearly 500 for it and was pissed. Since then been researching more and found your channel which has been very helpful to avoid such a pitfall in the future again. Gentlemen’s gazette I also found very helpful who have similar philosophies. Thanks!

I remembered The Devil Wears Prada scene about the cerulean blue :) That bag costs 7500 $ because it creates industries, mental worlds, customs, feelings and culture overall, and YOU, my dear, you are also living off this bag :) This bag pays your bills, this bag made you famous and this bag increases your sub count, so that is why it costs that much.

Yes, the bag also has additional intangible costs including the brand's history. I'm only looking at the bag's leather, craftsmanship, and quality perspective to further help consumers (such as luxury brand enthusiasts) decide which brands to purchase from so they don't waste money on low-quality luxury leather goods. But this particular bag from LV is actually a great bag :) I would recommend it if you're into luxury brands 😁
