Thank you for the new year’s eve gift of enlightening me to Jelly Cleaver. I had to go to the zon and order a copy of Forever Presence . This is why l watch your videos along with other’s. It may have taken time to discover Jelly Cleaver . Who knows this title may sell out. Then the price on the third hand market might double!

I hope I can help her sales some and I do hope this one stays in print. To me it's every bit as good as the vintage Blue Notes. I just wish there was more Jazz like this released this year. I sampled dozens of titles and I am sure there was something else great released this year Jazz-wise. I just haven't found it yet.

Paul! Thank you SO MUCH for doing this one! That opener cracked me up! I really needed this video because last year I was totally guilty of mostly being in post-punk mode. Those Snail Mail clips sounded excellent. I'm with you on being pretty behind on checking her out even though she's been around a few years. I'm glad you at least mentioned that Amyl & the Sniffers release. I just bought that one and their first on CD a few weeks ago and just love 'em. Oh, definitely gonna look more into Hana Vu Public Storage. Agreed on the horrible cover art though! I didn't even know about this new Morcheeba release! New Candys do sound phenomenal! Lots of styles incorporated on that Moderator release. A few I'd recommend that you may or may not already know about: Ist Ist - The Art of Lying King Woman - Celestial Blues Yasmin Williams - Urban Driftwood Squid - Bright Green Field The Shame - Drunk Tank Pink The KVB - Unity Low - Hey What Wednesday - Twin Plagues You put so much effort into this and love how your taste is always so varied! Can't wait to hear all the new music 2022 will bring! Was so wonderful to finally catch up on this one!

Dear long term viewer, Thank you so much for taking the time to sit through this long rambling video. I think you would dig the Snail Mail album. She's totally worth all the hype she's been given and I didn't know about her until this year. The Amyl and the Sniffers versus Chubby and the Gang was a tough call. Honestly, if I did the video today, I would sway towards Amyl. I think it's the group's best album honestly and I am glad I caught them before they really started to catch on a few years ago. I think you would enjoy the Hana Vu and at the time I picked this up, I also picked up her previous release 'Nicole Kidman/Anne Hathaway' which I think is just as good. The New Candys is one that I know you would love. It's one the best albums I have heard all this past year. Thanks for the tips on the bands. I know Low, Squid, and Yasmin Williams but the others are completely new to me. Since you mentioned it, I honestly don't know why I didn't pick up the Low record. I have their previous one and I sampled this one and really did dig it. Out of all of the ones you suggested, which was your favorite? Again, eye thank ewe for watching! Sincerely, P Dub

@@BarakaPDub Yeah, I remember you featuring Amyl & the Sniffers a few years ago in your year-end wrap-up vid. I just procrastinated on checking them out further. So much music out there that I can never keep up! I really love that Yasmin Williams release. Gonna pull the trigger and get it on vinyl. Helped me realize how much I love acoustic instrumental music like that. And the King Woman - it's the same vocalist from "Miserable." I believe I sent you the Loverboy/Dog Days CD before. I just love Kristina's unique voice, even though King Woman is more metal-ish. With Christmas and our last road trip, my buying has slowed down quite a bit. And the price of vinyl has just gotten out of control, too, along with everything else. Hope you have a great Friday! We're getting some snow later today.

Some interesting choices Paul, I’m particularly interested in the Italian label, I’ll definitely check that out. My favourites of last year were mainly none UK or USA based. Ormens Vag by Monikultur, Drommon by Smote, Refugio by Sei Still, as well as records from Djinn, Goat, Urdog etc, might be worth checking them out. Thanks Rockchica! I am glad you're telling me I find good stuff as my wife would disagree with 90% of it. As for finding new artists, every week I am doing a lot of sampling. A couple of keys to it all are signing up for label notifications on Bandcamp and ordering through juno.co.uk. You can set it up so Juno sends you weekly or daily e-mails on new releases they are putting out for sale. For shipping from the UK, they really are not too bad. In the United States, getting on the Forced Exposure mailing list also helps since they sell a lot of imports. You put all of this together and you end up with hundreds of new albums you can sample each week. Honestly, I end up with more from Bandcamp emails than I really have time to listen too but there are a few labels that consistently put out great music every month.

The latest from The Indications didn’t grab me. Love their first two, though. The album that piqued my interest the most in your list was Iris by Reb Fountain. Going to sample that in its entirety. I didn’t give Snail Mail enough attention this year. Going to rectify that. I really dug her last album. Cool to see Strand of Oaks. I first heard him in 2014. He was touring with some artists I love. His sound didn’t blow me away because it was so similar to so many other artists I enjoyed. Which was probably an unfair assessment at the time. However, somebody suggested that I give him another chance with Eraserland. I did think that was a pretty strong rock album. I completely missed that he released an album this year, and I’ll check it out. You always show tons of stuff I’m unfamiliar with Paul. Another well done video. Happy New Year to you and yours! ✌🏻

Likewise Jon on the unfamiliar stuff. I didn't know 70% of what you showed in your year end list at all and I like the VC'ers that take me into unknown territory. As for Durand Jones, it's true, I don't think everyone is going to like this third album. Just like I didn't care for the second album that much. What I do like about the band though, is that they're continuing to evolve their sound and they haven't become a one trick, soul making, pony. Strand of Oaks, yes, he does have a common sound but what he does on this record is extraordinary. I didn't feel there was a clunker on the record. I do recommend giving it a more thorough listen on Bandcamp to see if it's to your liking. I'll definitely be checking out Eraserland. Happy New Year to the family Jon and thanks for sitting through this one.

Paul the King of Killer Intro's! Nothing's really stood out to me from 2021 (yet), as I'm still not even completely caught up with 2019 and 2020. But I'll get to it eventually. Happy New Year! - Red

Thanks. Believe, there is good stuff out there but again you got dig for it any more. Sorry none of these struck your fancy but then again, a lot of the stuff I like is pretty far underground. Happy New Year Red!

I would struggle to name 5+ bands from post 2000 that I listen to. At least there's plenty to listen to from the 70s/80s/90s. But one or two of these caught my attention. So thanks for this list.

Thanks so much Ron for watching this video and being open to checking out a few of these artists. So if you asked me about any mainstream artist post 2000, I would be the same way. I don't listen to the radio anymore because I am not a fan of the modern day pop music scene. There is still great music being made but again, you got to dig for it since the bands I listen do don't get the same level of mainstream promotion bands once did. The sad thing is, since the music scene is so spread out with the advent of the internet and streaming services, the newer artists don't have the same production budgets of those in the classic rock days. That can be either good or bad depending on how you look at it but I do miss those 70s/80s/90s production values.

My pleasure Dimebagdave77! The Mutt's Nuts is really a fun album and it is a kick in the arse. Honestly, check out Small Stone and Heavy Psych Sounds on Bandcamp. There is so much good stuff coming out of these two labels.

thanks a lot for this video! what i love about your content is that your taste is very diverse, which makes your channel to one of my favourites in youtube-vc-land! i definitely will check out Reb Fountain, Public Service Broadcasting (although the album you showed was not.really my thing, but the concept made me curious about their other output), Stöner (i think this will be a great present for my dad ..hehe), Jelly Cleaver and Moderator (man.. i need to check out ALL of his work.. the two samples sounded SO dope!) totally agree with you on the Nightmares on Wax album.. i was a fan at the beginning, but after his fourth album i really lost interest, as his output then was just straight boring. well.. this new album is finally a very enjoyable piece again.. it caught my attention because of guests like shabaka and wolfgang haffner.. by the way.. shabaka.. the new Sons of Kemet album was one of my favourites this year.. another recommendation - if you like british burial'ish sounds with hints of boards of canada - would be Ross From Friends - Tread.. what a beautiful album for those who think burial is too spooky, should check this out.. oh and my reiusse of last year definitely is the classic album Satta by Boozoo Bajou!! i know you love kruder & dorfmeister.. so if you dont know boozoo bajou, go check it out NOW 😜 so.. happy new year! and i really looking forward to watching (hopefully) lots of baracka videos this year! cheers froms germany 😊

Thank you so much ToenS. My musical tastes are all over the map but there are a couple of places I rarely go. Like free jazz, I just can't get my head wrapped around it. Please let me know if you end up picking up any of these. Honestly, I don't think you will go wrong with either the Jelly Cleaver or Moderator. With the later, I will have another sample being uploaded in my Vinyl Tag response tonight.

The Wind was better than I expected for sure. I keep seeing the Pay Loud record but never delve in. Gotta get that. SNAIL MAIL IS SICK!!! SOOOOOOOOO GOOD. I think the way that Durand Jones and the Indications is progressing is a total 100% conscious graduation through time, that for them, started with a mid-late 60's Northern Soul feel on the first album, with the sophomore offering going towards late 60's early 70's politically and socially charged pure Soul music, and then this one graduates a few years circa towards the earlier sounds of 70's Soul-Disco. I think it's pretty brilliant how the band is progressing in that musical manner. Have not heard the Pink Cigs yet.... Fantastic. You need to check DeathChant and Blackwater Holylight(all females)... both Doom Metal Acid Rock Stoner Rock... both on Riding Easy Records. I know Sally Fields, The Flying Nun lol. That Morcheeba is DOPE (no pun intended). Great Video Paul - TONE

Thanks TONE. I am really curious to see where Durand Jones goes after this particular album. Are they going to get more into the 70's or get into the 80's big production sound. The bands I really dig the most are the ones that avoid becoming a 'One Trick' pony and churn out the same album again and again. That said, there are some 'One Trick' ponies I do like but many of them don't have any long term staying power if they don't diversify a bit. I generally dig anything that Riding Easy puts out so I need to go back and give those records a sample. I vaguely recall trying to sample the Blackwater Holylight record but maybe I didn't give it attention. If it's all female fronted, then I have to play it again!
